Chapter 29

Veronica’s POV

I started to wake up, my mind foggy as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. The cold, damp air clung to my skin, making me shiver. The sight of a bulb flickering above my head made the room feel more like a prison. I tried to move but the chains binding my wrists and ankles echoed through the small room.

Panic started to take hold of my body. My breaths became unsteady and restless, but I forced myself to remain calm, focused on the voices that were in the distance. Shia’s voice was unmistakable, sharp. I could hear the cold and venom in her tone of voice. The other voice was a man, it sounded very familiar but I was too disorientated to make out who it was.

Everything happened too fast. The abduction was almost a blur. I noticed that they were talking about something important, but they were too far to clearly make out what they were saying. All that I knew was they were serious, by the way of their tones.
