Chapter 32

Veronica’s POV

Marcus’s lips curled into a wicked grin as he saw me readying myself for a fight. He stepped forward, his eyes narrowed, I could see he clearly enjoyed the fear I was projecting. I stood my ground, knowing I needed to get him down to be able to escape. I lunged myself at him with the nail, the hope of catching him off guard.

He stuck out his hand and grabbed me by my wrist. He was faster than I was. He sidestepped my attack with ease, then he tilted his head slightly. Then he shook it slightly with an evil grin. His grip was like iron, he then twisted my arm painfully. It forced me to release my grip on the nail. The sound of the nail hitting the ground echoed through the hall.

“Going to give you an A for effort. But, remember I am stronger, faster. For a mutt I like your determination.” He sneered, yanking me closer. His breath was hot against my ear as he whispered, “You’re not going anywhere.”
