Veronica’s POVI started to wake up, my mind foggy as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. The cold, damp air clung to my skin, making me shiver. The sight of a bulb flickering above my head made the room feel more like a prison. I tried to move but the chains binding my wrists and ankles echoed through the small room. Panic started to take hold of my body. My breaths became unsteady and restless, but I forced myself to remain calm, focused on the voices that were in the distance. Shia’s voice was unmistakable, sharp. I could hear the cold and venom in her tone of voice. The other voice was a man, it sounded very familiar but I was too disorientated to make out who it was.Everything happened too fast. The abduction was almost a blur. This was starting to feel like a horrible nightmare that I just couldn’t seem to wake up from. I knew there was no use in hoping for a miracle. I wanted, needed to get out of here.Closing my eyes, I focused on steadying my breaths. Now wasn't the time to let my fears take over. I had to think clearly, to find a way out. The war room was once a place where we planned and strategized when setting out to war, but now it seemed like a prison of uncertainty. The thought of Veronica in danger because of me was unbearable. The thought of her getting hurt or worse killed weighed heavily on my shoulders. Pacing back and forth, my mind raced. Shia had always been unpredictable, but I never thought that she would stoop to this level. Never thought she would go as far as kidnapping someone. What was her endgame?
