Chapter 2

"Luna, he's just a useless fool who lounges around all day. He never did anything while living off us. It's already generous of us not to charge him for wasting your time. How could you give him money and a house?" Ingrid quickly protested.

"Yeah, Lune. A loser like him should leave with nothing," Aren agreed.

"These past few years, he took care of my daily needs. Even if he didn't achieve much, he still put in the effort. Consider this his compensation; I don't want to owe him anything," Luna explained.

"A million plus a house—what a deal for you, you worthless fool! Stop dragging your feet and just sign the papers already!" Ingrid said impatiently.

"Alright, fine. I'll do as you wish."

Myles did not try to salvage the situation any further; his heart was already deeply hurt. He promptly signed his name.

However, he refused to take the card. "I don't want the house or the money. Keep it, but you need to return the pendant. It's something my mother intended for my wife."

"It's just a cheap trinket from a random thrift store, and you want it back? It's nothing valuable," Ingrid sneered.

"It's not some thrift store junk; it's a family heirloom," Myles explained.

"Take it back, along with the card. I don't want people saying I'm heartless," Luna said as she handed the pendant from her neck along with the card to Myles.

"If it makes your conscience feel better, then I'll take it," Myles said, taking the card before turning to leave.

"Luna, I'm taking your brother out for a bit. You stay here with Mr. Quill and look after your dad," Ingrid said while giving Parker a knowing look.

Parker understood immediately—Ingrid was giving him an opportunity to be alone with Luna.

Now that Luna and Myles were divorced, and considering he had 'saved' Luna's father, Parker felt certain he was on the brink of winning her over.

At the hospital entrance, Myles' gaze turned wistful. For three years, he had hidden his true identity. He wanted nothing more than to stay by Luna's side, protect her, care for her, and secretly help grow her company one step at a time.

Yet, this was the outcome he received in return.

He glanced at the pendant in his hand and could not help but let out a bitter chuckle.

Luna was a fiercely ambitious woman who dreamed of becoming the top figure in business and amassing countless riches. Little did she know that the pendant she had just dismissed was actually a priceless treasure.

"Hand it over!"

While Myles was lost in thought, Aren suddenly snatched the pendant from his hand. Myles could have easily prevented it but was curious to see what the mother and son were up to now.

"No take-backs, haven't you heard of it? This pendant belongs to us since it was already given to my sister," Aren sneered.

Myles had mentioned it was a family heirloom, which made it seem valuable, so Aren seized it.

"Hand them over!" Ingrid said, extending her hand toward Myles.

"What?" Myles asked.

"Stop playing dumb. The money and house belong to my daughter, so you must hand them over," Ingrid said coldly.

"Take them, but the pendant stays with me." Myles did not care about the money or house, just the pendant. It was not only extremely valuable but also held great personal significance.

"You wish. Once something is in my hands, it's mine," Aren retorted. He noticed how much Myles cared about the pendant and became even more reluctant to return it.

"Hand it over!" Myles reached out, his gaze turning noticeably colder.

"I won't give it to you. What, you think you can hit me?" Aren sneered defiantly.

"Hand it over right now!" Myles grabbed Aren's wrist and twisted it slightly, causing Aren to scream in pain.

"Argh… It hurts! Let go of me!"

"You useless fool, let go of my son!" Ingrid shouted angrily while hitting Myles repeatedly.

"This is the last time I'm saying it—hand it over!" Myles' voice carried a chilling threat.

"It's just a worthless stone! Take it!" Aren shouted while throwing the pendant forcefully onto the ground.

"You're asking for it!" Myles fumed, raising his hand and slapping Aren across the face.

Aren clutched his swollen cheek, looking stunned. "You son of a bitch! How dare you hit me?!"

Before he could finish his sentence, Myles slapped him again, his gaze now sharp as a blade. "Watch your mouth!"

Both Ingrid and Aren were stunned—was this really the same spineless fool they thought they knew?

Ingrid quickly recovered and shouted, "How dare you hit my son?! I'll tear you apart!" She quickly lunged at Myles, clawing at his face.

The next moment, Myles raised his hand and delivered a loud slap across her face as well.

"How dare you lay a hand on me as well?!" Ingrid said, holding her cheek in disbelief.

Myles responded coldly, "You were once my mother-in-law, so I showed you respect. But that's no longer the case. Don't you dare provoke me again."

He then picked up the pendant and walked away.

"You bastard! I won't let this slide!" Ingrid fumed. Unable to swallow her anger, she rushed back to embellish the story to Luna and Parker.

"Luna, that wretched fool was unbelievable. Look at what he did to your brother and me!" Ingrid wailed with tears streaming down her face as she recounted the incident.

"Mom, did Myles really do this?" Luna asked. She truly found it hard to believe.

Myles had always behaved well in their family; he never even raised his voice, let alone hit anyone.

"Why would I lie to you? That worthless fool hit us! You have to avenge me," Ingrid sobbed.

"Yeah, Lune! Just look at my and Mom's face. Do you think we'd hurt ourselves just to frame him?" Aren added, sounding aggrieved.

"Why would he hit you?" Luna asked.

"We ran into him at the entrance and told him to stay away from you and stop pestering you. He got angry and started beating us up without saying a word," Ingrid explained.

"Mom, don't worry. If he really did that, I won't let him off," Luna promised.

Though she suspected her mom and brother might not be telling the full truth, hitting someone was still wrong.

Not to mention, Myles had indeed gone too far by hitting her mom and brother.

After leaving the hospital, Myles took a cab back to pack his things. However, just as he was about to open the door, several luxury cars pulled up in front of him.

A tall woman with a long pair of legs, who looked to be in her early 20s, stepped out of the Lamborghini in the middle. She was strikingly beautiful with an exceptional presence.

Following her was a group of bodyguards dressed in black, marching in a neat formation behind her.

Moreover, it did not stop there—another convoy of luxury cars arrived, accompanied by the roar of engines.

Then, another woman wearing a dress stepped out of a Ferrari in the middle of the convoy. She was around the same age as the first woman, but she was not as tall. Even so, she had a curvaceous figure that seemed barely contained by her dress.

Behind her was another group of black-clad bodyguards.

While the cab driver was looking bewildered, both women walked straight up to Myles.

"You must be Myles, right?" the first woman asked.

"Yes, I am. What do you want with me?" Myles responded.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Marley Lawson, the heiress of the Lawson family from Divinopolis. I'm your fiancée," said Marley.

The second woman quickly followed with her introduction, "I'm Cassidy Clarke, the heiress of the Clarke family from Divinopolis. I'm also your fiancée."
