Chapter 1

"Myles, you useless fool! Get to the hospital right now! Your father-in-law was in a car accident!"

Myles Storey, who was mopping the floor, suddenly received a call from his mother-in-law. Upon learning that his father-in-law had been in an accident, he quickly rode his electric scooter to the hospital.

"Mom, how's Dad doing?" Myles asked anxiously when he arrived at the hospital and saw his mother-in-law.

"You dimwit, why took you so long? Your father-in-law urgently needs a blood transfusion, but the hospital's stock is low. I remember your blood type is A, right? Hurry up and get in there to donate!"

Ingrid Rudolph knew Myles had type A blood, which was why she called him. Without waiting for his consent, she dragged him toward the blood donation room.

"How much blood would you like to donate?" the nurse asked.

"The more, the better! Hurry up. Don't waste time," Ingrid quickly answered.

The nurse was speechless. This was a blood donation, not something that could be done excessively.

"Just do as she says. The more the better," Myles agreed.

"Sir, donating blood isn't a joke. I'll just take 20 ounces for now," the nurse said.

Ingrid was displeased when she heard this. "My husband has lost so much blood. Twenty ounces is nowhere near enough. Take at least 70 ounces from him.

"He eats and drinks off our family anyway. Without us, he would've starved long ago. What's a little blood from him?"

The nurse rolled her eyes and started drawing blood. She stopped after 20 ounces.

Ingrid immediately exploded, "That's not nearly enough! Don't stop. Take as much as you can. Drain him dry if you have to."

Myles nodded in agreement.

With Myles' approval, the nurse drew another seven ounces. However, Ingrid was still dissatisfied and forced the nurse to keep going.

As a result, Myles fainted from excessive blood loss.

The nurse panicked and was about to return some of the blood when Ingrid pushed her aside.

"Gosh, he can't even handle this little amount. What a useless fool," Ingrid sneered.

In the VIP ward of the hospital, Wendell Wright had received timely treatment and was now out of danger. He would regain consciousness as soon as the anesthesia wore off.

In the ward were two men and one woman. One of the men, who seemed to be around 30 years old, was dressed in luxury brands.

Ingrid personally poured a glass of water for the man, smiling warmly. "Mr. Quill, have some water."

"Mrs. Wright, you don't have to be so polite," Parker Quill replied with a smile.

"Alright then, Mr. Quill. When Luna arrives, just insist that you were the one who donated blood to her dad. That way, she'll see you as a savior. It's possible that she might even offer herself to you," Ingrid said with a sly smile.

"Thank you, Mrs. Wright. Once I marry Luna, I'll make sure to repay you properly."

Parker hurriedly expressed his gratitude. Just the thought of Luna Wright's curvaceous figure made his mind wander.

Although Luna was a married woman, that was exactly his type. Compared to younger women, he found mature women far more appealing. They offered a thrill that younger women simply could not provide.

"Mom, how's Dad doing?" Luna asked while rushing in. She had been on a business trip when she received the news and immediately hurried back.

Ingrid replied, "Your dad is out of danger now, but we really have to thank Mr. Quill for it. Your dad lost a lot of blood and urgently needed a transfusion, but the hospital had none available.

"Mr. Quill stepped in and donated nearly 30 ounces of his blood on the spot. He even fainted afterward and didn't wake up until the next day.

"If it weren't for his strong constitution, anyone else would've been bedridden for at least ten days to two weeks."

Aren Wright, Luna's little brother, added, "Lune, Mr. Quill practically saved Dad's life. We can't ignore this debt of gratitude."

"Mr. Quill, thank you so much," Luna said gratefully.

"Luna, there's no need for such formalities between us. It was the least I could do," Parker responded.

"By the way, where's Myles? Didn't anyone notify him?" Luna asked.

Ingrid snapped angrily, "Don't even mention him! I called him to donate blood to save your dad, and he completely ignored me."

"That doesn't sound like him," Luna said while frowning. She knew Myles fairly well. Despite his lack of ambition, he was always good to her.

Ingrid continued, "Luna, you have no idea. That useless fool has been putting on a show for you all along. When you're not around, he doesn't respect us at all."

Aren quickly nodded in agreement. "Mom's right! That guy's no good. He wouldn't even donate a little blood. Mr. Quill is a hundred, no, a thousand times better!

"You should divorce Myles right away."

Ingrid chimed in, "That's right. Just go and file for a divorce today. Mr. Quill has been waiting for you all this while, and this time, he even risked his life to save your dad. We can't repay him enough. You should marry Mr. Quill and repay him slowly."

Seeing the opportunity, Parker stepped forward and grabbed Luna's hand. "Luna, please give me a chance to take care of you. I'll treat you well for the rest of my life."

"Mr. Quill, please don't do this. I truly appreciate what you've done, but—"

Before she could finish, Parker interrupted, "Luna, I have some good news for you. Divine King Group is planning to invest in a project worth billions in Jonesburg, and they're hosting an investment conference. The Divine King himself might even make an appearance."

"Really?"

Luna had initially wanted to reject Parker, but when she heard the mention of the Divine King, she was instantly filled with excitement.

The Divine King was a figure of immense power. He was unrivaled across the lands and was her ultimate idol. Her greatest dream was to one day meet the Divine King in person.

Smiling, Parker replied, "Of course, it's true. The Quill family has already received the invitation to the investment conference."

"Mr. Quill, can you take me with you?" Luna's eyes sparkled with hope.

"Of course. I'll surely bring you along," Parker replied.

"Mr. Quill, thank you so much!" Luna grabbed his hand, overwhelmed with excitement.

"Alright, but you should go and divorce that useless fool first," Parker suggested.

Luna hesitated. Although Myles was unambitious, he had always treated her well.

A flash of annoyance crossed Parker's eyes upon seeing her hesitation. "Luna, I'm not trying to force you; I'm just saying this for your own good. If you want your company to continue growing, you need to cut loose the dead weight."

Ingrid said, "Luna, Mr. Quill is right. That useless fool will only drag you down. We've always been tolerating him, but this time, he wouldn't even save your dad when his life was on the line. Why would you still want to be with someone like that?"

Luna then pulled out her phone and dialed Myles' number. "Jonesburg Hospital, VIP Ward 3. Come here immediately. I need to talk to you."

After hanging up, Luna called her secretary, Janet. She instructed her to print a divorce agreement and bring it over.

Myles had fainted earlier due to blood loss, and he received Luna's call right after waking up. Despite his weakened state, he dragged himself to the hospital ward.

"Is Dad alright?" Myles asked.

"Myles, why did you refuse to donate blood for my dad?" Luna questioned sharply.

"What?"

"What do you mean, 'what'? Luna called you here to divorce you. Hurry up and sign the divorce papers!" Ingrid snapped angrily.

"Divorce? Is this for real?" Myles asked as he looked at Luna.

"It's real," Luna confirmed.

"Why?" Myles struggled to comprehend.

Luna replied angrily, "You still have the nerve to ask why? You spend your days aimlessly and lack ambition. I could tolerate those things.

"But when my dad got into an accident and needed your blood, you refused. I'm completely disappointed in you."

"But I did donate blood—27 ounces, in fact," Myles said.

"Myles, you shameless fool! That blood came from Mr. Quill, not you. It has nothing to do with you," Ingrid scoffed.

"How could you lie so blatantly? I'm the one who donated the blood!" Myles protested in frustration.

"Myles, enough!"

Luna stopped him from speaking further. "I've tolerated your aimlessness, lack of ambition, and even refusal to donate blood. But now, you're trying to steal someone else's credit. I'm beyond disappointed. Let's just divorce and go our separate ways."

Myles chuckled, but it was a bitter, self-deprecating laugh. "After three years of being together, you still don't believe me?"

"It's clear you're not going to change, even now. Forget it. I'm done arguing with you. Just sign the papers."

Luna took out a card and handed it to Myles. "This card has a million in it, and the house in Saltwater Lake will be yours. From now on, we'll go our separate ways and find our own happiness."
