Chapter 4

Not long after Remi left, a Bugatti Veyron pulled up in front of Myles. A middle-aged man dressed head to toe in luxury brands stepped out of the car.

"Mr. Storey, please!" the man beckoned as he got out and invited Myles into the car, his demeanor extremely respectful.

If anyone had witnessed this scene, they would have been utterly stunned. The man was none other than Maddox Schmidt, the wealthiest individual in Jonesburg with a net worth in the billions.

A figure of his stature commanded respect even from the city's top officials, yet here he was, showing such deference to Myles.

"Mr. Storey, why are you carrying a duffel bag? Did something happen?" Maddox asked curiously once Myles was in the car.

"I got divorced," Myles replied with a sigh.

"What?"

Maddox's jaw dropped in shock, his eyes full of disbelief.

"Mr. Storey, forgive me for asking, but what exactly happened?"

"She and her family think I'm useless and a burden to them," Myles replied with a self-mocking smile.

Maddox immediately grew indignant. "Mr. Storey, the Wright family managed to enter Jonesburg's high society in just three years all thanks to your secret support. Without you, the Wright family would never have had the privilege. How could they be so ungrateful and treat you like this?"

"It's fine. It's all in the past now," Myles said calmly.

"Mr. Storey, if the Wright family can't see your worth, it's their loss—they're blind to true greatness. If they knew who you really are, they'd kick themselves with regret!" Maddox exclaimed.

'Luna, oh Luna, if you knew that the man you saw as a burden is actually the Divine King you dream of impressing, what would your reaction be?' Myles thought to himself.

"Mr. Storey, perhaps it's for the best that you got divorced. Luna was never good enough for you. How about this? If you feel lonely during this period, I can have my daughter take care of you," Maddox suddenly suggested.

"Your daughter?" Myles asked in surprise. Maddox was truly going all out, even offering his daughter to please him.

Still, Myles understood. Many people were eager to curry favor with him. One word from him and plenty would willingly send their daughters to his doorstep.

Seeing Myles' hesitation, Maddox quickly added, "Mr. Storey, I'm not just boasting here. My daughter is exceptional. She's nearly five feet five, she's beautiful with long legs, and she definitely rivals Luna in both looks and temperament—perhaps even surpassing her.

"She's also incredibly smart. She graduated from a prestigious university at the age of 20 and is currently the CEO of the Divine King Group's Jonesburg branch."

"Catalina Schmidt is your daughter?" Myles asked, his face full of surprise.

For the past three years, Myles had kept his identity hidden and had not visited Divine King Group, nor had he met Catalina in person.

However, they occasionally spoke over the phone, and he greatly respected her capabilities.

"Yes, Catalina is my daughter. She's never even had a boyfriend before. How about I have her accompany you tonight?" Maddox suggested.

"Do I look like I'm obsessed with women?" Myles asked.

"No, no. That's not what I meant. Please don't be angry, Mr. Storey," Maddox stammered, startled by Myles' reaction.

"Just focus on your own responsibilities and don't meddle in things that aren't of your concern," Myles advised.

"Understood," Maddox replied. He was visibly anxious and breaking into a cold sweat.

"Where are you headed now, Mr. Storey?" Maddox asked.

"Divine King Group," Myles responded.

Maddox nodded and instructed the driver to proceed.

A short while later, they arrived at Divine King Group.

The towering 99-story building was an imposing sight, visible from any corner of Jonesburg.

"Mr. Storey, let me accompany you upstairs," Maddox offered.

"No need. You go about your business. I can go up on my own," Myles said.

"Hey! Isn't that Myles, that useless fool? What's he doing here? And the person next to him looks familiar," Ingrid exclaimed in surprise.

Their family was here for two reasons. First, Luna had prepared a gift she wanted to personally present to the Divine King. Second, they had heard that Divine King was hiring a driver, and Aren was hoping to apply for the position.

Normally, Aren held himself in high regard and would hesitate to take a job as a driver, even if it was for Jonesburg's wealthiest individual. Yet now, he was nervous and apprehensive.

He was worried that he might not get the job because this position was to serve the Divine King.

The Divine King was the most esteemed figure in all of Kiridan, commanding respect and fear across the land. People would clamor and fight just for the chance to work for him, even if it was just to shine his shoes.

"That's Maddox Schmidt, the chairman of Schmidt Corp and the wealthiest man in Jonesburg," Luna said, equally surprised.

"Oh, so that's Maddox Schmidt! No wonder he looks familiar—I've seen him in magazines before. But why would he be with Myles? Could it be that Myles has some hidden identity?" Ingrid speculated.

"Lune, do you think he might be the heir of some prominent family? Otherwise, how could he know Mr. Schmidt?" Aren guessed.

Luna shook her head. She had been married to Myles for three years and had never known about him knowing someone as influential as Maddox.

Myles also noticed Luna and her family in the distance, but he paid them no mind and walked straight into Divine King Group.

"Hello, who are you here to see?" the receptionist asked politely.

"I'm looking for Ms. Catalina Schmidt," Myles replied.

"Oh, you're here for the driver position, right? The CEO's office is on the top floor. You can head up yourself," the receptionist said.

Driver?

Myles did not bother revealing his true identity. As long as he could get upstairs, that was all that mattered.

He then walked into the elevator and soon reached the top floor. Although this was his company, it was his first time visiting the building.

He quickly found the CEO's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" a pleasant and melodic voice called from inside.

Myles pushed the door open and saw a young, beautiful woman sitting on the couch. She looked just over 20, with fair, smooth skin.

Her features were delicate, with bright eyes and a sharp gaze. Her hair was neatly tied up, giving her a poised and professional appearance.

She wore a cream-colored blazer paired with a fitted skirt that highlighted her perfect curves. Her legs were long and slender, and she wore white crystal-heeled sandals. Even her toes looked impeccably well-groomed.

Myles could not help but take a few extra glances. As Maddox had mentioned, Catalina was indeed a beauty, even more striking than Luna.

"Hello, I'm Myles Storey," he greeted.

Catalina was engrossed in her documents and only looked up when Myles spoke. She immediately frowned and said, "You can leave now."

"Leave?" Myles was taken aback. He was the owner of the company, yet Catalina did not even ask who he was before trying to send him away. What was going on?
