Asher pov
It was about getting to four years now, since Aurora ran away, and I hadn't heard anything from her. This past few years was like a battle between my heart and brain. My heart still wondered if she was okay, and my brain just wanted to concentrate and focus on my life in front of me.
I stood in front of the bedroom mirror, preparing for my meeting, with my expensive suit matching up to my muscular body, forcing a smile on my face. My brown eyes blurred. I took a deep breath, turning to Sophia, who was still lying on the bed, after coming late from her countless parties she had been having over the years.
I walked up to her, tapping her to wake her up. "Good morning, my angel," I said, still making an effort, despite her stubborn behavior on waking up.
"Oh...I hate you," she said, her eyes still closed, but her voice murmuring in anger. "How many times have I warned you not to wake me up?"
"I just want to tell you that I am about to leave for work, that's all," I said, feeling frustrated.
"And so? Is this the first time you're telling me?" she said, murmuring loudly.
I kissed her on the forehead, rubbing her hair. "Good, you just woke the hungry lioness from her sleep. Be ready, antelope, kissing f*e," she said, opening her eyes with a smile.
"I don't understand 'kissing f*e'?" I asked, looking confused.
"After all these years, I don't know why you find it difficult to understand me," she said, arranging her hair. "I'm looking beautiful for you every day, and you have to appreciate this beauty, sweetheart."
"What do you take me for? A bank?" I asked, my voice increasing with anger.
"I'm your luna, and you must take care of me. Are you sending the money now or not?" she said.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Sophia, my luna, was asking me for money again. It seemed like no matter how much I gave her, it was never enough.
"Seriously, Sophia?" I asked, trying to keep my temper in check. "You're asking me for money again?"
She pouted, looking up at me with a sulky expression. "What's wrong with that? You're the alpha, it's your duty to take care of me."
I sighed, feeling a familiar bit of frustration. This was exactly why I had been distant from Sophia lately. Her constant demands for money and attention were exhausting.
"I'll send you the money," I said finally, trying to calm her. "But Sophia, we need to talk about this. You can't just keep asking me for money without any consideration for the pack's finances."
Sophia rolled her eyes, looking uninterested. "Whatever, alpha. Just send me the money." She said.
I shook my head, feeling a pang of disappointment. This wasn't the Sophia I had fallen in love with. The Sophia I knew was kind, caring, and thoughtful. This Sophia was selfish and entitled.
I turned to leave, but Sophia's voice stopped me, as she said. "Alpha?"
I turned back, looking at her. "Yes?" I replied angrily
"Don't forget to send me the money," she said, smiling sweetly.
I nodded, feeling a bit of resignation. I would send her the money, but I knew that this conversation was far from over.
I left the bedroom, feeling a mix of emotions. I was frustrated with Sophia's behavior, but at the same time, I felt a pang of guilt. Was I not providing enough for her? Was that why she was acting this way?
I pushed the thoughts aside and made my way to the office. I had a meeting with the pack's finance team to discuss the upcoming budget. As I sat down at the conference table, I couldn't help but think about Aurora, as the thought just came into my head.
It had been four years since she left, and I still couldn't shake the feeling that I had lost something precious. I wondered what she was doing now, if she was happy.
The meeting began, and I forced myself to focus on the discussion. But my mind kept wandering back to Aurora, and the what-ifs that still haunted me.
Just as the meeting was wrapping up, my assistant walked in with a curious expression. "Alpha, I have some news," she said.
I raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"
"It's about your mother," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
My heart skipped a beat. "What about her?" I asked, my voice tight with anticipation.
"Your mother wants to see you; she is waiting for you in your office," my assistant said, and took a bow. I finished the meeting in a rush and went to see her.
I walked to the door of my office, holding the handle with my shaking hands, taking a deep breath, and closing my eyes to open the door. As I entered, she was already sitting in my chair.
"Good morning, Mother," I said, bowing my head to show respect.
She nodded, but her expression remained serious.
"What brings you here? You know this is office hours; you should have called to tell me to come home," I said, moving to the fridge to bring a juice with two glass cups.
"I'm fed up with you, telling me every day that you would. But you wouldn't come anytime I invite you," she said, her face fading in anger.
"It's not that I wouldn't come. It's just that I am always busy," I said, rolling my eyes in frustration.
"I'm not here to argue with you; I am here for something far greater than that," she said.
"So, what is it?" I asked, offering her a glass of juice.
"Son, I am beginning to get tired of you, and it is getting me frustrated. You know why? It's about that lady you kept as your luna, Sophia, or whatever she calls her name. Isn't she ready to get pregnant and get me a grandchild?" she asked, rejecting the glass of juice from me.
"Mother, what if the woman I truly want to bear my child is someone else entirely?"
Asher povThe tension was high, as my mother looked at me in a weird look."Mother, I have told you countless times that she isn't ready. What did you expect me to do, force her?" I said."She said she is still young and beautiful, and she doesn't want to spoil her shape for me," I added, rushing my glass of juice in frustration."Just hear yourself; what is the meaning of what you are saying? Has she gone mad? And why would you accept that kind of rubbish?" she asked, hitting the table with anger.I sighed, feeling a headache coming on. This was not the first time my mother had brought up the topic of Sophia getting pregnant, and I knew it wouldn't be the last."Mother, please understand. Sophia is not ready to have children yet. And even if she was, it's not like I can force her to get pregnant," I said, trying to reason with her.My mother's expression turned red with anger. "You're the alpha! You should be able to control your luna! And what's with this nonsense about not wanting
Asher povI looked at Johnson, his words striking a chord within me. Was I settling for Sophia? Was she truly the right luna for me?"Johnson, you're right," I said, feeling a bit of clarity. "I need to take control of this situation. I need to be the alpha."Johnson nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "That's the spirit, bro! Now, go out there and show Sophia who's boss."I laughed, feeling a load of determination. I was going to take control of my life, and I was going to start with Sophia.Just then, my assistant knocked on the door. "Alpha, Sophia is here to see you."I raised an eyebrow, a sense of irony. Speak of the devil."Send her in," I said, standing up and smoothing out my clothes.Johnson stood up, clapping me on the back. "Good luck, bro. You're going to need it."I smiled, feeling gratitude towards my friend. With a deep breath, I prepared myself for the confrontation that was about to ensue...Sophia walked in, showing me her phone screen with anger, and said, "
Asher povWe both stare at each stoll shock at the massive figures."You see what I'm facing, bro?" I said to Johnson, with a pitiful face."This is getting out of hand," Johnson said, looking angry. "What type of expensive lifestyle is she living like this?""Don't worry, we'll find a way to balance the scales," I said, as we watched my assistant leave us.We shook our heads and entered the car, driving off. We went to a nearby bar, and as we arrived, we called Loid to come and meet us. An hour later, Loid came."Welcome, my beta," Johnson said, bowing down as he saw Loid."Good day, my alpha," Loid said, bowing to me.Loid and Johnson looked at each other and immediately smiled, giving each other a hug."Welcome back, my bro," Loid said, with a happy tone. "You are looking good.""And you too, my man," Johnson said, as they both looked at me, letting out a big laugh. "It looks like you're even living better than the alpha himself!"I smiled, shaking my head. "You two are something e
Asher povI and my mother both stare at the assistant in curiosity. Did the person tell you his name? My mother asked. No, ma, the assistant replied, bowing her head. Just bring the person in, I said. The assistant bowed and left us, leaving us to murmur in curiosity about who it was. Some minutes later, the assistant came in with someone. He was black-skinned, tall, and had dark hair. Greetings, Alpha and former Luna, the stranger said, bowing to show his respect. Greetings to you too, I said, as I and my mother both looked at each other strangely. What brings you here? Stranger, my mother asked. Am sorry to come without an invite of any kind, he said. Just state your business, I said in a frustrating tone. Some things happened in a nightclub about two weeks ago, which someone from your pack is involved in, the stranger said. From our pack? My mother asked, looking surprised. Yes, and it is about your Luna, the stranger said, turning to look at me. Sophia again? At what point would h
Asher pov I finally saw Sophia dancing in the middle of the group, a drink in her hand and a smile on her face. She was laughing and having a great time, completely carefree.I felt a load of anger and frustration at the sight of her. How could she be so reckless and irresponsible, especially after what had just happened?I pushed my way through the crowd and grabbed Sophia's arm, pulling her away from the dance floor. "We need to talk," I said, my voice low and angry.Sophia looked up at me, a look of surprise and confusion on her face. "What's wrong, Asher?" she asked, her voice slurred from drinking.I pulled her outside, away from the noise and chaos of the club. "You're coming with me," I said, my voice firm and commanding.Sophia looked up at me, a look of fear in her eyes. "I'm not going anywhere," she said, her voice stubborn.I felt angry at her disobedience. "You're going to do what I say, Sophia," I said, my voice low and menacing. "You're going to come with me, and we're
Asher povThe weird look said it all which was that she wasn't ready to change. It was as if her mood was always changing every minute."Hey, you! If you needed money, you should have just said it. What's the meaning of me paying a fine?" Sophia said angrily, turning to the stranger."Sophia, you need to calm down. You need to take responsibility for your actions," I said, trying to hold her hand."Don't you dare tell me to calm down!" she said, waving off my hands."Sophia! Have you gone insane?" my mother yelled, her eyes glowing."Why is everyone blaming me? I wasn't the one who started the fight that night," Sophia said."Sophia, you're trying to create a war, which I'm trying to prevent here. You're a Luna, you need to know that - not causing it," I said angrily, pointing my finger at her face."Blah, blah, I know their type - the gold diggers," Sophia said, rolling her eyes.My mother's face turned red with anger, and she took a step forward. "How dare you!" she exclaimed. "You'
Asher povIt sounded like footsteps, light and stealthy. I turned to my mother, my eyes narrowing."Do you hear that?" I whispered. My mother's eyes widened, and she nodded. "Yes, I do," she whispered back. "It sounds like someone is sneaking around outside."I immediately went on high alert, my senses heightened as I tried to pinpoint the location of the noise. My mother's eyes locked onto mine, and I could see the concern and fear reflected in them."Stay here," I whispered to her, my voice barely audible. "I'll go check it out."My mother nodded, her eyes never leaving mine. I could sense her fear, but I also knew that she trusted me to handle the situation.I slowly made my way to the door, my ears perked up and my heart racing with anticipation. As I reached the door, I paused, listening intently for any sign of movement. And then, I heard it again which was the faint sound of footsteps, this time closer and more deliberate. I took a deep breath, preparing myself for whatever was
Asher povAs we ventured deeper into the warehouse, Sophia's scent grew stronger with every step. We approached a corner of the warehouse, and suddenly, a loud, multiple laughter echoed through the air. The three of us stared at each other in shock."Are you hearing that too?" Loid whispered, his voice trembling."Put your voice down," I whispered back, my tone low and angry. "I am hearing it too."Loid started to protest, "Don't tell me to put my voice down, we are all entering into a very dangerous place which we don't have a plan and—"But I quickly interrupted him, holding my hand over his mouth as we heard approaching footsteps. We slipped into a dark shadow, watching as two men, whom we sensed were werewolves, walked by. One of them turned in our direction, standing still as he tried to sense us."What's wrong?" his companion asked, tapping him on the arm."Oh, nothing," he replied. "I thought I sensed something."As they turned to leave, we emerged from the shadows, breathing a
Asher pov As the tension was beginning to get intense I waited patiently for Sophia's response, in order to know the next step of what to do. I watched the clock as minutes turned into hours, with every tick of the clock giving me a heartbeat, my curiosity increasing. Finally, the maid came back, and as my curiosity couldn't allow me to stand and watch her come to me, I walked up to her."Any news?" I asked, my eyes widened in curiosity."Yes, my alpha," the maid said, bowing her head. "She accepted without hesitation.""Without hesitation?" I asked, standing there in shock. "That means she didn't even argue?"The maid just nodded, still with her head down."Wow, this is new," I said. "Thank you, you can go."I nodded for her to take her leave. I watched her take leave, with my mind occupied with worries. Could Sophia be telling the truth? Could she be truly pregnant?I didn't go and meet her all through the night, as I slept in another quarters. It was the break of dawn, and I was a
Asher pov Just when I was deep in thought, my phone rang. Upon looking at my phone screen, it was my mother. "What does she want?" I murmured in frustration."Hello," her voice was heavy on the other side of the phone, as I picked up the call."Yes, Mother. I am with you," I said, followed by a deep breath."What is this I'm hearing, Sophia again?" she asked, sounding worried and curious. "One of the elders just called, and with what he was telling me, he said Sophia is pregnant. How is it possible?""I understand you, Mother," I said, shaking my head in disappointment. "Even I am also confused about it.""What is it you are confused about?" she asked, sounding angry. "Isn't she your luna? You suppose to know all about this.""Mother, Sophia is very difficult to understand," I said, scratching my head in confusion. "And more so if she needs something, she will do whatever it takes to get it.""Son, we spoke when I came to your office," she said, her voice low this time. "Where you to
Asher povThe elders looked at each other and nodded. "All right, Alpha. We shall take you to her."I followed the elders, my heart beating, ready for anything yet knowing full well that I had to face Sophia and bring the truth to the fore.Tension wells up inside of me as I approach Sophia's quarters, the anger boiling over, the confusion, but above all, the hurt which was how could Sophia do this to me? How can she lie to me and manipulate the elders?By this time, we were at Sophia's quarters. I pushed the door open and stepped in. She lay on the bed; white, almost weakened. But then I knew how great an actor she was; one way or another, anyone would yield for her. "Sophia," I rasped, sounding low and forbidding. "We gotta talk."She looked up at me, a weak smile on her face. "Asher," she whispered. "I'm so glad you're here. I have been feeling so unwell."I snarled; all my anger boiled then. "Don't play games with me, Sophia," I spat. "I know about your little scheme, the way you
Asher povOn the way to my mansion, my assistant was informing me about what had taken place. Explaining it in detail, she said Sophia had been brooding in quietness, just to solidify her support among the ranks in members to bring me down.I growled with building growing anger: How could Sophia do this to our pack? Where does she place the interest of our people? The air grew thick with tension as I approached headquarters. Pack members were huddled together, speaking among themselves.I steeled myself for the coming fight and took a deep breath. I wasn't going to let Sophia's actions tear our pack apart.I got out of the car and began to walk towards headquarters with my assistant. The curious and hostile gazes turned to me as we entered the building.I tuned them out-mentally set my focus on what lay ahead of me. I needed to get in, speak with the pack, reassure them as to my position, reassure them that I remained pack leader and the commitment within remained strong. But before r
Asher povI stood there, dumbfounded, my eyes scanning in every direction for the minutest trace of the mysterious figure; he had vanished into nowhere.I shook my head, trying to put together what was happening. First were the revelations of what Sophia had been into-the stuff sent my head reeling-and then, all of a sudden, here is this figure who just materialized and then in almost a single instant, poof.I looked down at the folder still clutched in my hand, the documents inside showing some real shockers about Sophia's actions. I knew I needed to confront her, but some part of me just wouldn't take action.Maybe it was just some kind of setup. Maybe Sophia was totally innocent, and this phantom figure wanted me to think otherwise?Shrugging off my doubts, I went up to my hotel room with my mind swimming in questions and doubts. The minute I stepped into that room, there sat Sophia upon the bed, more innocent than one human mind can fathom. But I knew a thing or two about her inno
Asher povMorning light crept inside the room, the passion of the previous night still fresh. I woke with a pounding headache-the remnants of the hangover still there. Lying beside me was Sophia, and a sly smile grew on her lips."Good morning, my alpha," she whispered, very low and seductive.I rubbed my temples, trying to ease the pain. "What was last night all about?" I asked, my voice filled with confusion and curiosity.Sophia took a deep breath before responding. "I'm the luna, and I know what my alpha needs at any given time."I raised an eyebrow, incredulous. "Sophia, I know that, but your behavior last night was unlike you. You didn't use protection or your pregnancy prevention pills. What's your game in all of this?"Sophia's smile never wavered. "Don't start this morning, asher. I know you enjoyed the passion, and I did too. Let's not spoil the moment. And if you're not satisfied, we have plenty of time this morning."I caught her hand, which was reaching to touch my chest.
Asher povMy eyes widened in astonishment as I beheld Sophia standing in front of me."Have you been drinking?" she asked when she noticed the broken bottles on the floor."What do you want?" I snarled.Sophia's words were not true. "I'm not going to sit around and let everything we've ever struggled for slip away," she warned, pushing me into the room. She strode over to me, eyes burning with purpose; I retreated from her, backward in the direction of the bed.I could feel the intensity in her eyes as she walked up to me. She was out to have it with me over something, and from the look in her eyes, it was not going to be pretty. "Sophia, what is wrong?" I tried to stall. But she would have none of that. "Don't play dumb with me, asher," she said in a low, even tone. "I know all about your little infatuation with Aurora."Saying that, my guiltiness surged into my feelings, but I did the best to hold myself poised. "I have no idea what you are talking about," I lied, trying to sound a
Asher pov I stood there with a pen, waiting for her to write. She could not talk, since she was mute, but her notepad served as her way to communicate. But it stayed shut, and her pen was tight in her grip."Come on, write something," I said, looking at the notepad. "Tell me if you agree."Yet she just stood still, not moving, as the wind softly rustled the leaves."Alright, I'll wait," I said, reaching for her hands, which she pulled away.Taking a deep breath, she turned and walked off, her head lowered. I was left with many thoughts racing in my mind. After she had walked some way, she glanced back at me, her face showing irritation. The event started, and a speaker went up to the front. "Good evening, everyone. Now, for the final but most important presentation tonight, let's welcome this young woman, who, even though she does not speak, has amazed everyone with her incredible success. She grew her company from nothing to one of the best in the field. Ladies and gentlemen, please
Asher povShe sitting all alone on a lounge chair in an eye-catching terrace, with her beauty still glowing even more than when I met her earlier. As I looked from a distance and kept on admiring her beauty with so many thoughts, I was absent-minded with one of my hands lying on a pole. I stood there for some minutes, then gained some courage to go talk to her."At least, what is the worst that might happen? And again, I just want to apologize about what happened earlier with Sophia. Even if the two of them are feeling so proud to apologize to each other, it's the best I could do after all, because of me, they both quarreled earlier," as I said to myself. As I walked towards her, I could still sense some kind of fear in me."Good day, Aurora," I greeted with a deep breath. she nooded as she looked so confused and kind of angry."No! Please, I didn't come here for that. I am not here for that same drama again," I said to her.She brought out her notepad from her bag. With a deep breat
