I had dinner with Travis that evening, stuffing my mouth like I had never eaten before in my entire life. I was really famished, like in a miserable way.
Right after we were done eating, the lady he had called earlier, Karima, arrived to take me.
She bowed at ninety degrees to Travis Coles. "I am sorry for being late sir, I could not get past the traffic." She apologized so politely and he just nodded.
"It's fine. This is Mira Silver." He introduced me to her. "She will be joining your team, as a lobby agent. She is an amateur, so you are to guide her through the three-day training."I could not help but frown when he called me an amateur, was that really necessary?
I exchanged polite greetings with Karima without smiling. Working with humans was something I perceived to be as tough, being a werewolf even though as an omega who had not received her wolf.
Sure, there were many werewolves who tended to cover their true identities and just live like humans. I had not tried staying amongst humans so I did not know if I would cope so well.
Travis handed me over to Karima and I left with her, while she assisted me with my suitcase. I did not even ask her for help but she rendered it anyway. We got our of the clubhouse and she told me to get into her car, a black Jeep.
This was her personal car? Maybe they made so much money? I was not even worried about that, being able to cope with her was the issue.Given the current state I was in, I was not sure if I could last long, dealing with humans.
After she drove out of the clubhouse, she started engaging me. "How did you get to meet my boss,Travis?"I was just meeting her so I guessed it would be super rude to not reply her even though I did not feel like it. But how was I going to explain that I met this man during a thief chase?
"It was just...in a weird situation, I am sorry but I can't find the right words. We met just today." I replied to her and she smiled slightly.
"He must take so much interest in you then. He barely does this." I meditated on what she had said and wondered why he gave me the job so quickly. I found it weird too, that I got such a huge job within thirty minutes of discussion, no qualifications or anything but here I was.Karima no longer said anything to me till we got to an apartment complex, a very tall one. She went ahead to park in the basement parking lot, then she led me up to the twenty-eighth floor.
The floor was so quiet and peaceful, with many doors probably leading to other apartments. She took a short stroll down left and stopped at a door with the indication, '2065'.
She removed a card from nowhere and unlocked the smart door with it, and there was a beep. We got in and really, I did not expect what I was seeing. The interior was mad! Right from the door down into the living room, doors leading to bedrooms of course, an open kitchen and dining, shelves and all. This was nothing compared to the life I used to live but then for just me, it was more than enough. I fell in love with the theme already but it was not mine after all.
When we got to the living room, Karima turned to me. "This is your apartment. You will stay here from now on, it's the only available apartment on this floor but we could change it if you don't like it."
"This place is mine?" I widened my eyes, not believing my ears.
"Yes." She affirmed. "Other apartments on this floor are occupied by some people from other teams." She continued. "Okay...but where do you stay?" I asked, raising my brows. "Right above here." She replied, pointing a finger upwards. That was cool then."I will leave you to rest tonight. I will be here as early as 6 AM tomorrow so get prepared. Training starts tomorrow too, and I will bring you your uniforms. Also, if there's anything you need that is not here, you can just reach out to me." She stated and then dropped her card on the couch.
She gave me one slight smile before walking out of the apartment. Why was she this nice? I remained on a spot for a good while, just staring around. Just the day before, I was lying on the cold floors in a dirty motel, suffering from bugs, mosquitoes and bad smells.
What a big turnaround. I dropped the black bag I was carrying and walked in further, to check out the rooms. The room was moderately big, with an inner room as a closet, a study at a side, dressing mirror and table and the like.
The other room was smaller and I guessed it was meant to be a guest room. I returned back to the open kitchen and realized the cabinets were stocked with food stuff, cereals, provisions and the refrigerator with fruits, bottled waters, drinks and frozen food. When did they even have all the time to prepare these?
"Who cares by the way?" I muttered under my breath, picking out a bottle of water, uncapping it and gulping it down halfway.
I sank in the couch and stared in the blank space for a few seconds. Was life fair or unfair? I picked my phone and tapped on the screen wake to check what time it was.It was almost 2 AM. I sighed as I closed my eyes, trying to push things out of my mind. Despite the fact that I was safe for now, I still felt it within my spirit that there was more to this and I mustn't loose my guard. The journey was still far!!! And this was just the starting point.
My goal was to attain a level even without my parents' influence where I could destroy Adrien from. I still maintained that energy, while planning to also focus on my new job. I wanted to be good even if it was for a while.
The moening soon came and I had to rush my bathing process because it was almost 6 AM and Karima would definitely be here at any time. I had not gone into the bathroom the previous night but entering it that morning to take my bath, I realized everything needed for a bath was available. There was a new toothbrush, sponge, face wash, mouth wash, body wash, towel and some other stuff. I stepped into the hot shower and washed away all my sufferings. I remembered bathing with freezing cold water the day before and I smirked, while under the hot shower.I don't know but it felt like a new beginning for me. I had anger stocked up in me but I would wait for the right time to unleash. I was not just angry at the Seventh heritage pack, but then I was furious at myself. The thought of wasting three good years of my life with someone that never adored or cherished me, going against my father's words and turning against his pack because I wanted to chase love.I thought Adrien had loved me for wh
"You are welcome to the team." Leo said to me as we stepped into the elegant elevator. "Thank you." I replied gently. "We are heading to the fortieth floor now, the training will be held there. But our main office is on the forty-two floor." He explained and I nodded, trying to be as polite as I could. We got to the fortieth floor and stepped out of the ride, then I saw some other people littering around. The ladies were in the same uniform as me and the guys too wore uniforms in the same colour shade. They all were in twos and it seemed like they were waiting for the training to start."Attention everyone!" I was surprised when Leo stepped forward to do that. We got their attention and then placed his hands against the other to his back, maintaining a stoic and professional stance. He acted quite differently from the person I had met earlier in the elevator."Good morning, ladies and gents. I am Leo, one of your instructors for today's training. The training starts in seven minutes,
Leo led me to Karima's office and left after he had a short talk with her. Her office was not something I had imagined; It was quite moderate but properly furnished and fit for her profession and rank. She had me sit and then started engaging me. "How was the training today?""It went quite well, Ms. Karima." I replied to her and she smiled. "Call me, Karima, everyone does. By the way, most people complained so much about the lengthy lecture hours so I expected that from you too."I clasped my hands together behind my back and sucked in my lips, not sure of how to reply to her. Then she smiled, as if she understood my plight. "It's alright by the way. I told Leo to bring you so you could have lunch here before you return to your apartment. I was wondering if you would not mind a brief tour in the resort too." A tour? A high ranking lobby agent like her was offering me a tour? I could not help but question her niceness within me, she definitely had other things to do, but she wanted
Training day two was soon here and like they said, it was not easy. It was more of a field training than a sit-listen lecture. We were firstly instructed to change into a fit gym wear instead of our uniforms, then we all hand weight scale. Most people were over the average and it took this new set of instructors nothing to make them lose proper weight within a few hours. Leo was one of them too and he had me specifically weighed by him. It turned out to be that I was about 3kg close to average. He raised his hand with his arms folded against his chest, looking confused."You don't eat beef? Chicken?" He raised his brows. For someone who spent over four months in prison, eating just vegetables, beans and water, how else could I have grown past the average weight?I only smiled gently at his question, I did not think I was meant to answer that. While others exercised under the hot sun, I remained sitting, drinking water from a Stanley cup. At some point, I was instructed to join th
For a while there, I thought I was dreaming, but I was not. How possible could it be? I clearly saw the man in the pool filled with bloody earlier so why was it looking like nothing had happened there?I had never been so confused in my entire life. Really?Karima turned around swiftly to face me and immediately, I started panicking. "I swear Karima, I am sure of what I saw." "Where is it now..Mira?" She asked but I had no reply to give her, no reasonable response."I am just as surprised. There was a man...here... literally...floating at the centre of this pool right here." I tried explaining even though I sounded crazy to myself, how would I convince her when I was also too confusion myself? She sighed and then brought out her phone. "Leo, don't bother. There's nothing." I heard her say then she dropped the call. I felt so bad that she probably felt I had alarmed them falsely."I am not lying, please. I am sure of what I saw." I persisted and then she released a soft, slight smile
Karima engaged me throughout the walk quite so well and by the time we returned to the huge apartment complex, we stopped at the point where we were going to part ways."I will be making something delicious for dinner, you want some?" She offered, smiling broadly. "Ugh... it's fine, you don't need to--""Mira, it's okay. I'll bring the food box to you later." She insisted and then I stepped out of the elevator, while she went up to her own floor. As I approached my door, I started feeling sore pains all over. "What's happening to me?" I muttered to myself as I tried dragging my feet into the apartment. The moment I got in, the pain became unbearable and I lost my balance. I had never felt like this in my entire life. I groaned loudly as I crawled into the living room in pains. "Ughh!!!" It was so loud and I was no longer sounding like myself. "What the fuck is going on?" I groaned loudly again and this time I felt my bones enlarging and poking out of my skin. My nails grew into
The leather coat Karima got for me turned out to be so nice on me. I stepped out of the room and had breakfast with her, then we started heading to the resort in her car.I felt the strong urge to ask her who she really was, I believed that would answer every other question that I had for her. After raising what turned out to be a false alarm about a dying person, she did not flinch or scold me at all, as if she knew and understood what i was talking about. My head was filled with these thoughts that I did not realize she was talking to me."What did you say?" I asked her, after getting to realize that she was speaking to me."You look lost, Mira. What's the problem?" She inquired, looking at me and also tried to focus on the wheel at the same time."Oh, it's just...a few things bothering my mind." I let out, hoping to lead something but I decided to back down."Care to share them?" She asked nicely and alluringly. "No, I would not want to bother you. I will get it sorted out." I re
I was officially a lobby agent at Greenvile, and a part of me felt excited. Leo brought me a tray that had a chest badge with my name engraved on it, a journal that had my name also engraved on it and a pen, meant to be tucked in my chest pocket.I fixed it all on and I was good to go. I followed him down to where-heavens-know because he had instructed me to follow, claiming that the whole of team 2 were waiting for me. We finally got there, and it turned out to be Karima's office. The meeting started as soon as we got there, with Leo going to where Karima was."Good morning everyone." Karima started. "For our new team members, I am Karima and here is my co-team lead, Leo." She paused and gave Leo room to make any further statements of introduction. He made some corporate gestures. I guess some people eventually made it past that training, and I felt bad that I did not get to experience the last phase of the training."So, you new members will get a manual from me, on how things h
