2 Am In An Apartment

I had dinner with Travis that evening, stuffing my mouth like I had never eaten before in my entire life. I was really famished, like in a miserable way.

Right after we were done eating, the lady he had called earlier, Karima, arrived to take me.

She bowed at ninety degrees to Travis Coles. "I am sorry for being late sir, I could not get past the traffic." She apologized so politely and he just nodded.

"It's fine. This is Mira Silver." He introduced me to her. "She will be joining your team, as a lobby agent. She is an amateur, so you are to guide her through the three-day training."

I could not help but frown when he called me an amateur, was that really necessary?

I exchanged polite greetings with Karima without smiling. Working with humans was something I perceived to be as tough, being a werewolf even though as an omega who had not received her wolf.

Sure, there were many werewolves who tended to cover their true identities and just live like humans. I had not tried staying amongst humans so I did not know if I would cope so well.

Travis handed me over to Karima and I left with her, while she assisted me with my suitcase. I did not even ask her for help but she rendered it anyway. We got our of the clubhouse and she told me to get into her car, a black Jeep.

This was her personal car? Maybe they made so much money? I was not even worried about that, being able to cope with her was the issue.

Given the current state I was in, I was not sure if I could last long, dealing with humans.

After she drove out of the clubhouse, she started engaging me.

"How did you get to meet my boss,Travis?"

I was just meeting her so I guessed it would be super rude to not reply her even though I did not feel like it. But how was I going to explain that I met this man during a thief chase?

"It was just...in a weird situation, I am sorry but I can't find the right words. We met just today." I replied to her and she smiled slightly.

"He must take so much interest in you then. He barely does this."

I meditated on what she had said and wondered why he gave me the job so quickly. I found it weird too, that I got such a huge job within thirty minutes of discussion, no qualifications or anything but here I was.

Karima no longer said anything to me till we got to an apartment complex, a very tall one. She went ahead to park in the basement parking lot, then she led me up to the twenty-eighth floor.

The floor was so quiet and peaceful, with many doors probably leading to other apartments. She took a short stroll down left and stopped at a door with the indication, '2065'.

She removed a card from nowhere and unlocked the smart door with it, and there was a beep. We got in and really, I did not expect what I was seeing.

The interior was mad! Right from the door down into the living room, doors leading to bedrooms of course, an open kitchen and dining, shelves and all. This was nothing compared to the life I used to live but then for just me, it was more than enough. I fell in love with the theme already but it was not mine after all.

When we got to the living room, Karima turned to me. "This is your apartment. You will stay here from now on, it's the only available apartment on this floor but we could change it if you don't like it."

"This place is mine?" I widened my eyes, not believing my ears.

"Yes." She affirmed. "Other apartments on this floor are occupied by some people from other teams." She continued.

"Okay...but where do you stay?" I asked, raising my brows.

"Right above here." She replied, pointing a finger upwards. That was cool then.

"I will leave you to rest tonight. I will be here as early as 6 AM tomorrow so get prepared. Training starts tomorrow too, and I will bring you your uniforms. Also, if there's anything you need that is not here, you can just reach out to me." She stated and then dropped her card on the couch.

She gave me one slight smile before walking out of the apartment. Why was she this nice? I remained on a spot for a good while, just staring around. Just the day before, I was lying on the cold floors in a dirty motel, suffering from bugs, mosquitoes and bad smells.

What a big turnaround. I dropped the black bag I was carrying and walked in further, to check out the rooms. The room was moderately big, with an inner room as a closet, a study at a side, dressing mirror and table and the like.

The other room was smaller and I guessed it was meant to be a guest room. I returned back to the open kitchen and realized the cabinets were stocked with food stuff, cereals, provisions and the refrigerator with fruits, bottled waters, drinks and frozen food. When did they even have all the time to prepare these?

"Who cares by the way?" I muttered under my breath, picking out a bottle of water, uncapping it and gulping  it down halfway.

I sank in the couch and stared in the blank space for a few seconds. Was life fair or unfair?

I picked my phone and tapped on the screen wake to check what time it was.

It was almost 2 AM. I sighed as I closed my eyes, trying to push things out of my mind. Despite the fact that I was safe for now, I still felt it within my spirit that there was more to this and I mustn't loose my guard. The journey was still far!!! And this was just the starting point.

My goal was to attain a level even without my parents' influence where I could destroy Adrien from. I still maintained that energy, while planning to also focus on my new job. I wanted to be good even if it was for a while.
