Karima engaged me throughout the walk quite so well and by the time we returned to the huge apartment complex, we stopped at the point where we were going to part ways.
"I will be making something delicious for dinner, you want some?" She offered, smiling broadly.
"Ugh... it's fine, you don't need to--" "Mira, it's okay. I'll bring the food box to you later." She insisted and then I stepped out of the elevator, while she went up to her own floor. As I approached my door, I started feeling sore pains all over.
"What's happening to me?" I muttered to myself as I tried dragging my feet into the apartment. The moment I got in, the pain became unbearable and I lost my balance.I had never felt like this in my entire life. I groaned loudly as I crawled into the living room in pains. "Ughh!!!" It was so loud and I was no longer sounding like myself.
"What the fuck is going on?" I groaned loudly again and this time I felt my bones enlarging and poking out of my skin. My nails grew into claws right before my eyes, I had never been so stunned. The shift was completed in a few minutes and I stared at my new self in the glass wall.
"Kierra." I heard a voice say loudly and I turned my neck around, but I felt too weighty. Looking around, there was no one. My sight even went as far as seeing every nook and cranny of the apartment from where I was. I could clearly see everything going on in my unit floor too.I turned to the resort's ocean view, and just so clearly I was seeing the sea animals and beings living down there.
"What's this?" I thought in my mind as I looked at my reflection in the glass again. I had become so huge, with a pure white hairy fur all over. My eyes were ocean blue and sparkly."Kierra." I heard that name again and then it dawn on me that I have shifted into my wolf form!
My wolf?***
I struggled so hard to open my eyes, I could still feel the pains all over but it had reduced so much from earlier.
I opened my eyes to realize I was on my bed. The first thing I checked was my body, it was now back to normal. It took time before I realized someone standing in my room. It was a female figure.
"Karima?" She turned around immediately. She was the one. "You are awake, Mira.""What happened?" I asked, wondering how she found me. She moved closer immediately. "Are you sure you are fine now?"
I nodded gently, staring at her weirdly. There was silence after, then I broke it. "What happened?" I inquired.
"I came down to give you your lunchbox of course, then I...found you on the floor, passed out." She replied. An 'oh' escaped my mouth. I must have changed into my human form, seeing how she did not react awkwardly. But what was I even doing? What the heck happened earlier? My wolf form? Kierra? All were a joke to me.
I got off the bed and stormed out of the room angrily. I needed someone to explain to me what happened to me but there was no fucking body to ask! I was just stuck there with humans! It was so annoying that I was confused.I suddenly felt Karima's presence. She was with me but her cologne was sharper than ever to me. I knew she smelt nice but I never noticed her cologne this much. What was exactly wrong with my senses??
I turned around to face her. I had no choice but to just ask her plainly.
"Was I in any weird form when you saw me?""What do you...mean?" She asked.
How would I ever explain it to her? "Something strange... happened to me right before you entered, did you notice that?""Uhmm..I am not sure I did. But there were some signage strands of hair lying around on the floor." She replied.
'So it was real..' I thought. "You can take your leave now, Karima. Thanks for the food box." I said to her, indirectly dismissing her."But--"
"I will definitely be fine, don't worry about me. I will make it to the training tomorrow also." I said to her, countering her statement before she even made it.
She was not going to leave but she eventually did, I had some rights over this apartment afterall.I sat on the couch after she left, thinking about what had happened to me. A lot had happened in just a few days, they were strange to be expressive.
The bloody pool, the dying guy, and now...my 'supposed' wolf appeared all of a sudden, out of the blue.I was yet to accept the fact that it was my wolf though. None of my family members had white, hairy furs so there was no way mine was white. Right?
I had not come across a pure white wolf in Silver Claw pack before too, at least not until I left for Adrien's pack.I had so many questions but no one to give answers to them. I headed to the open kitchen after a while and prepared myself a cup of coffee. I needed it badly, I would start losing sleep frequently after all.
There was just a whole lot to deal with.
Till day break, I did not get a wink of sleep. I had had enough. I drank as much coffee as I could so as not to fall asleep. As soon as it was morning, Karima was the first to knock on my door.
She walked in, smiling as always. "Good morning, Karima."
"Morning. I brought you breakfast and a leather coat, it's cold outside and I noticed you did not have any in your closet." She said, sounding so warmly.I collected the paperbags that had the breakfast and coat. She walked in further, heading to the kitchen. "Oh dear, you didn't have the dinner." She exclaimed gently and I apologized for having not touched the food.
I headed into the room, getting even more confused about why she was doing all these. I was supposed to be pushed around, going on errands for her as a junior but she was the one watching out for me instead.
Who really was Karima? The leather coat Karima got for me turned out to be so nice on me. I stepped out of the room and had breakfast with her, then we started heading to the resort in her car.I felt the strong urge to ask her who she really was, I believed that would answer every other question that I had for her. After raising what turned out to be a false alarm about a dying person, she did not flinch or scold me at all, as if she knew and understood what i was talking about. My head was filled with these thoughts that I did not realize she was talking to me."What did you say?" I asked her, after getting to realize that she was speaking to me."You look lost, Mira. What's the problem?" She inquired, looking at me and also tried to focus on the wheel at the same time."Oh, it's just...a few things bothering my mind." I let out, hoping to lead something but I decided to back down."Care to share them?" She asked nicely and alluringly. "No, I would not want to bother you. I will get it sorted out." I re
I was officially a lobby agent at Greenvile, and a part of me felt excited. Leo brought me a tray that had a chest badge with my name engraved on it, a journal that had my name also engraved on it and a pen, meant to be tucked in my chest pocket.I fixed it all on and I was good to go. I followed him down to where-heavens-know because he had instructed me to follow, claiming that the whole of team 2 were waiting for me. We finally got there, and it turned out to be Karima's office. The meeting started as soon as we got there, with Leo going to where Karima was."Good morning everyone." Karima started. "For our new team members, I am Karima and here is my co-team lead, Leo." She paused and gave Leo room to make any further statements of introduction. He made some corporate gestures. I guess some people eventually made it past that training, and I felt bad that I did not get to experience the last phase of the training."So, you new members will get a manual from me, on how things h
I left the dressing room with Leo and headed to the first floor. "We are sorry for just arriving, Mira was stuck with preparing for her assignment." Leo said to Karima before I could even say anything. He defended me quite well there. The rest of the team were already around and so we had to be on two straight lines and then walked out the moment a convoy arrived at the entrance of the resort.I swallowed so hard, to totally suppress my anxiety and it was working. "I can do this." I muttered quietly to myself as the climax moment was here. One of the guys stationed at the entrance of the resort opened the door so the VVIP guest could step out and I stepped closer to the door, ready to welcome him. Leo had mentioned to me earlier that we all used to get a profiling on our guests to know the kind of person they were but Karima did not do this time around. The reason, he too could not explain.Either way, I trusted my long period of rehearsals to not fail me. I was meant to bow at nin
I later got his profile and I diligently went through it on the computer in my allocated space. It was a general office for the team but her spaces were demarcated well. Only the team leads, Karima and Leo, had their own special offices. My space wasn't bad actually. It was well furnished and we had a kitchen room where we could eat lunch, make instant coffee and tea, too. Leo forwarded the VVIP guest's profile to me and I was quick to go through it.Jordan Reign, 30, he barely talks-prefers to listen and observe, that was very obvious at our first meeting. He prefers a perfectly quiet environment, loves nature...and I guessed that was why his suite was openly facing the ocean, with green trees around, it was also stated that he was cranky and short-tempered.He loved absolute order and efficiency, cigars, and classical music. His dislikes stated noise and disorder, unnecessary attention, I guessed he preferred staying in the shadows. He hated it when people talked too much, we had t
While Karima was out, I played so vigorously on the piano in her apartment. I had been on it for hours and I did not plan to stop anytime soon. At some point, I relaxed my finger muscles and played a solemn piece I had always played right from my learning days. I knew how to play it best! And so that was what I planned to play for Jordan Reign. After an extra hour of rehearsing, I took my fingers off the piano. If I stayed any more minute, my fingers could become stiff and eventually mess up the real performance. I glanced at the time and saw that it was 2 at midnight. I sighed gently and I looked around, standing up from the bench I sat on. My body was almost numb. It was my first time staying this long at her apartment, being there even. Her apartment's theme was a bit plainer than mine and I guessed she had a bland taste, but everything there was luxurious.I walked to her kitchen to get a glass of water as I was dehydrated, then as I gulped down the natural liquid, I heard some
I was woken up in the morning by Karima's call. I swear, if she had not called me at that time, I would have gotten late for work. Apparently, she was back at her apartment to prepare for the day. Immediately the call ended, I walked into the shower and had a warm bath, then I put on casual wears with sneakers then waited patiently for her to be done.I would have gone up to her unit but the trauma I had the previous day was real, funny enough so I just waited on my floor. She reached out to me when she was done and we headed down to Greenville Resort together. "Are you well prepared for this?" She asked and I nodded.. "I am." I replied amidst my various thoughts. Ugh... there was a whole lot on my mind but I was not losing it yet. The stuff with Karima's music box bothered me, combined with my unsettled tummy out of the nervousness towards playing for our dear VVIP guest. It was even the way Karima was selling me out. I had not worked in any organization before but she was sure
"He wants me to play again for him by 7 tonight." I said to Karima as we headed to the office. Midway, we met Maria, the female lead of the team one, the one that did not like Karima. Some way, I had found out about her name and some details from some of my teammates' discussion.Again, she had that contemptuous look when she saw us coming and this time around, she stopped to speak. "Here goes the so-called Iron woman, who gets everything done." Maria said in a mocking manner and a smirk appeared on Karima's face. She did not even spare Maria a glance and just walked past her, I did the same too, feeling funnily sorry for her. What the heck was that non-verbal, punchy response Karima gave her?The look on Maria's face was killing, like the other day I had met her. Jealousy and anger were written all over her bodly. She obviously hated the fact that most guests preferred Karima's services and by default, services from our team to Maria's team, even though they were the first team.It
The other guest was Harrison Louis, a government official, a VVIP guest too and from the discussions between others that I overheard, it turned out the guest were initially meant for team one, Maria's team. But they made a mistake during one of their services and the guest angrily requested for another team to serve him. "I even heard Karima was not going to accept it." One of them chipped in."Of course, it's wrong for her to. It's more like handing over a leftover, but she had to take it just for the guest's sake." Another replied. As we headed to the man's room with three of my senior colleagues and Rowland, I remained quiet throughout. We got to the floor where the man's suite was, only to see so many guards there, securing. I wrinkled my brows, was this really necessary? They had us all scanned with a machine before we were allowed in.I just watched calmly, to learn. I was the type that gained mastery just by observing, it was my wiring. "The agents are here already, sir." On
