The leather coat Karima got for me turned out to be so nice on me. I stepped out of the room and had breakfast with her, then we started heading to the resort in her car.
I felt the strong urge to ask her who she really was, I believed that would answer every other question that I had for her.
After raising what turned out to be a false alarm about a dying person, she did not flinch or scold me at all, as if she knew and understood what i was talking about. My head was filled with these thoughts that I did not realize she was talking to me.
"What did you say?" I asked her, after getting to realize that she was speaking to me. "You look lost, Mira. What's the problem?" She inquired, looking at me and also tried to focus on the wheel at the same time."Oh, it's just...a few things bothering my mind." I let out, hoping to lead something but I decided to back down.
"Care to share them?" She asked nicely and alluringly. "No, I would not want to bother you. I will get it sorted out." I replied to her and she did not press any further. When we were still some miles away from the resort, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my eyes and then it extended to my head. I felt madly bothered.
Opening my eyes, I could see the resort clearly, the exterior and everything going on there. How cars were moving in, getting parked and humans walking into and around the resort. This also happened last night when I changed into my wolf form and it was happening again. A hundred miles sight. Was my wolf really here?
So unbelievable. We arrived at the resort and I could confirm solely that everything I saw earlier was it. The cars that were parked outside, I could see them. The movement of people, even though inaccurate which was normal, it was happening.
I scoffed quietly, feeling crazy. As soon as Karima parked the car, I got off it. We both walked into the huge reception area and as soon as we got in, I felt my ears stretch unsually, then I started hearing different voices.
"What's this?" I muttered gently as I held my forehead in my palm. There were numerous, various voices and different talks.
I took my second hand to my head also and halted in my steps, which definitely had Karima stop too."Are you okay, Mira?" I heard her voice faintly.
"I.." I was going to speak but the feeling became unbearable and I blacked out.
Waking up about an hour later in a room, I pondered on what happened back there. I tried tracing it to the wolf form I had shifted into last night but I did not remember hearing voices so loudly like that.
I sighed deeply. The fact that all the excitement I had built over the years to meet my wolf had died was a big killer. Now, strange things were happening without anyone to give explanations to them. All of a sudden, I remembered about the training and I checked the time on the wall clock.
"Shit!" I swore seeing it was past the starting time of the training. I had a very long way to go and there was no way I was getting eliminated at the beginning point. As I got off the bed, I heard a voice say to me. "Don't bother, Mira."
It was Karima. Yeah, I was with her before I passed out. I turned to see that she was actually sitting on a couch in the room and has been watching me the whole time. 'She must think I am crazy.' I thought, biting my lower lip."I guess I have missed the training already." I said to her and she smiled slightly, shaking her head.
"It does not matter, Mira." She replied. "But it does! I am getting eliminated obviously. It's the third and last training." I argued and she smiled again. Then she stood up and walked over to where I was, taking slow strides."Whether you get the training or not, you are meant to be here, miss."
My pupils quivered as I opened my mouth to ask, "Wh... what do you..mean?" I was ready to read a supernatural meaning to her statement. She chuckled. "You have forgotten so quickly? Travis Coles, he got you a job as a lobby agent even before the training. So apart from the other twenty nine, you have been chosen to work here anyways. The training was just to have you prepared mentally and get an idea of what we do here." She explained, then it made sense to me.
I could vividly remembered Travis telling Karima I would be joining her team. I had not seen him since then though...
"So, just get some rest here. You will start working as a lobby agent in team 2 tomorrow, officially." She declared and I nodded gently, sitting at the edge of the bed.As she attempted to walk out of the room, I raised my voice. "Where..are you going?"
"I have work to do, miss Mira." She replied. Then it struck me, something was not right. "Karima," I reached out again, having her step and turning around fully to face me. "What is it?" She arched her brows."Why..aren't you asking me.. questions? I mean, I passed out of the blue, probably muttering strange words but you are not saying anything about it." I pointed out, feeling too suspicious.
She crinkled her face. "I guess you were stressed out? You had dark circles around your eyes earlier this morning and I guessed you did not get any or enough sleep today." She countered reasonably.
Was that really it? I stared straight into her eyes to see if I would notice anything but there was nothing. It looked like she was really telling the truth.
"Or...is there more..to it?" She further asked and I shook my head vigorously, wearing an insincere smile."It's nothing."
I was officially a lobby agent at Greenvile, and a part of me felt excited. Leo brought me a tray that had a chest badge with my name engraved on it, a journal that had my name also engraved on it and a pen, meant to be tucked in my chest pocket.I fixed it all on and I was good to go. I followed him down to where-heavens-know because he had instructed me to follow, claiming that the whole of team 2 were waiting for me. We finally got there, and it turned out to be Karima's office. The meeting started as soon as we got there, with Leo going to where Karima was."Good morning everyone." Karima started. "For our new team members, I am Karima and here is my co-team lead, Leo." She paused and gave Leo room to make any further statements of introduction. He made some corporate gestures. I guess some people eventually made it past that training, and I felt bad that I did not get to experience the last phase of the training."So, you new members will get a manual from me, on how things h
I left the dressing room with Leo and headed to the first floor. "We are sorry for just arriving, Mira was stuck with preparing for her assignment." Leo said to Karima before I could even say anything. He defended me quite well there. The rest of the team were already around and so we had to be on two straight lines and then walked out the moment a convoy arrived at the entrance of the resort.I swallowed so hard, to totally suppress my anxiety and it was working. "I can do this." I muttered quietly to myself as the climax moment was here. One of the guys stationed at the entrance of the resort opened the door so the VVIP guest could step out and I stepped closer to the door, ready to welcome him. Leo had mentioned to me earlier that we all used to get a profiling on our guests to know the kind of person they were but Karima did not do this time around. The reason, he too could not explain.Either way, I trusted my long period of rehearsals to not fail me. I was meant to bow at nin
I later got his profile and I diligently went through it on the computer in my allocated space. It was a general office for the team but her spaces were demarcated well. Only the team leads, Karima and Leo, had their own special offices. My space wasn't bad actually. It was well furnished and we had a kitchen room where we could eat lunch, make instant coffee and tea, too. Leo forwarded the VVIP guest's profile to me and I was quick to go through it.Jordan Reign, 30, he barely talks-prefers to listen and observe, that was very obvious at our first meeting. He prefers a perfectly quiet environment, loves nature...and I guessed that was why his suite was openly facing the ocean, with green trees around, it was also stated that he was cranky and short-tempered.He loved absolute order and efficiency, cigars, and classical music. His dislikes stated noise and disorder, unnecessary attention, I guessed he preferred staying in the shadows. He hated it when people talked too much, we had t
While Karima was out, I played so vigorously on the piano in her apartment. I had been on it for hours and I did not plan to stop anytime soon. At some point, I relaxed my finger muscles and played a solemn piece I had always played right from my learning days. I knew how to play it best! And so that was what I planned to play for Jordan Reign. After an extra hour of rehearsing, I took my fingers off the piano. If I stayed any more minute, my fingers could become stiff and eventually mess up the real performance. I glanced at the time and saw that it was 2 at midnight. I sighed gently and I looked around, standing up from the bench I sat on. My body was almost numb. It was my first time staying this long at her apartment, being there even. Her apartment's theme was a bit plainer than mine and I guessed she had a bland taste, but everything there was luxurious.I walked to her kitchen to get a glass of water as I was dehydrated, then as I gulped down the natural liquid, I heard some
I was woken up in the morning by Karima's call. I swear, if she had not called me at that time, I would have gotten late for work. Apparently, she was back at her apartment to prepare for the day. Immediately the call ended, I walked into the shower and had a warm bath, then I put on casual wears with sneakers then waited patiently for her to be done.I would have gone up to her unit but the trauma I had the previous day was real, funny enough so I just waited on my floor. She reached out to me when she was done and we headed down to Greenville Resort together. "Are you well prepared for this?" She asked and I nodded.. "I am." I replied amidst my various thoughts. Ugh... there was a whole lot on my mind but I was not losing it yet. The stuff with Karima's music box bothered me, combined with my unsettled tummy out of the nervousness towards playing for our dear VVIP guest. It was even the way Karima was selling me out. I had not worked in any organization before but she was sure
"He wants me to play again for him by 7 tonight." I said to Karima as we headed to the office. Midway, we met Maria, the female lead of the team one, the one that did not like Karima. Some way, I had found out about her name and some details from some of my teammates' discussion.Again, she had that contemptuous look when she saw us coming and this time around, she stopped to speak. "Here goes the so-called Iron woman, who gets everything done." Maria said in a mocking manner and a smirk appeared on Karima's face. She did not even spare Maria a glance and just walked past her, I did the same too, feeling funnily sorry for her. What the heck was that non-verbal, punchy response Karima gave her?The look on Maria's face was killing, like the other day I had met her. Jealousy and anger were written all over her bodly. She obviously hated the fact that most guests preferred Karima's services and by default, services from our team to Maria's team, even though they were the first team.It
The other guest was Harrison Louis, a government official, a VVIP guest too and from the discussions between others that I overheard, it turned out the guest were initially meant for team one, Maria's team. But they made a mistake during one of their services and the guest angrily requested for another team to serve him. "I even heard Karima was not going to accept it." One of them chipped in."Of course, it's wrong for her to. It's more like handing over a leftover, but she had to take it just for the guest's sake." Another replied. As we headed to the man's room with three of my senior colleagues and Rowland, I remained quiet throughout. We got to the floor where the man's suite was, only to see so many guards there, securing. I wrinkled my brows, was this really necessary? They had us all scanned with a machine before we were allowed in.I just watched calmly, to learn. I was the type that gained mastery just by observing, it was my wiring. "The agents are here already, sir." On
I was shocked when he walked in. Why was he here? What was he looking for? It seemed like he came for trouble but he was actually calmer than anyone in that space. Harrison seemed to recognize him too, but he was not dazed by him."Yes, how may I help you...Mr...Reign?" He raised his voice immediately. As if he had not heard anyone speak, Jordan walked towards us and sent a dreadful stare at Karima, she immediately took her face down."3PM, that was the instruction." He let out calmly but in annoyance. "I am sorry, sir. There's been a bit of a situation."He moved his gaze away from her and to me, then he just stared. In return, I moved my own eyes to Karima, questioning her non-verbally about what was going on. 3PM? What was supposed to happen then?"You were supposed to play for him by 3, plans changed." She mentioned and an 'o' escaped my lips. I realized he was still staring at me and I took my eyes down immediately. "Join me up there in ten minutes. I don't care about what h
