Training day two was soon here and like they said, it was not easy. It was more of a field training than a sit-listen lecture.
We were firstly instructed to change into a fit gym wear instead of our uniforms, then we all hand weight scale. Most people were over the average and it took this new set of instructors nothing to make them lose proper weight within a few hours.
Leo was one of them too and he had me specifically weighed by him. It turned out to be that I was about 3kg close to average. He raised his hand with his arms folded against his chest, looking confused.
"You don't eat beef? Chicken?" He raised his brows. For someone who spent over four months in prison, eating just vegetables, beans and water, how else could I have grown past the average weight?I only smiled gently at his question, I did not think I was meant to answer that.
While others exercised under the hot sun, I remained sitting, drinking water from a Stanley cup. At some point, I was instructed to join the twenty-nine others to run around the field. After about three hours of the field training, we rounded up. I was pretty glad I would be returning to the apartment quite early because I was finding solace in the space, only for Leo to inform me that we still had another session to run.
Even though I had not done strenuous activities like the others, I did not feel too good about it. We went ahead to get cold showers and then changed into our appropriate uniforms.
We were all assembled back at the field area when we were done. Leo was now taking this session solely.
"Good afternoon potential Lobby agents!" "Good afternoon, sir!" "This session is a brief but very pivotal session. Your performance here determines if your VVIP guest is staying or not." He continued and I paid attention keenly, while some others yawned tiredly and just could not wait to end the training for that day."It's the first stage in lobbying, the welcoming stage." He paused and his gaze moved around before he continued.
"Of course your VVIP guest will firstly arrive before you start lobbying majorly, but what you do at the first stage determines others.""So, we will be having a practical session now and I would love you all to watch keenly." Just when he finished speaking, three cars drove into the field after the other. They stopped right in front of us, and then Leo picked five people out of we the trainees and made them stand behind him in an orderly manner.
He and the five walked in a straight line towards the door of the middle car and stopped. He then positioned the five in a strange, unique manner as one other guy opened the door.
"This is the typical way to welcome a guest." I heard Leo say into a megaphone because he was quite far away but we could see properly from where we were standing.
He repeated the action for many minutes and then the session was wrapped up.I did not even meet up with Leo after the training, instead I headed out of the big field unto the resort premises.
As I walked alone, around the resort I suddenly perceived a strong smell of steel, and I guessed it was blood. I halted in my steps. Greenville was supposed to be perfect, right? Where was this coming from? And why were my senses so sharp all of a sudden?I looked around cautiously for anyone but all my colleagues were heading in a different direction, so I decided to check where the smell came from. I started walking further, around the swimming pools area.
Karima had brought me here during the tour so I knew a bit of directions. That was where the Jacuzzis, and pools were, different from the beach. There was nobody there also.
Probably it was a dead animal? I guessed as I thought of retreating. Anything that would reduce my points, I did not want it.As I was about to make the decision to turn around and leave, something caught my eye. The swimming pools I saw the day before were all blue in colour but I could see a red distant one.
My curiosity was piqued and I approached it, hastening my steps. Lo and behold, the pool was contaminated and the smell of blood became stronger. I gasped when I saw a being at the centre of the water, a man.
It seemed like he was badly injured and his blood had caused the pool's colour to change.
His eyes were not opened and it seemed like he was lifeless. "Hello, can you hear me?" I raised my voices immediately, staying a few steps away from the pool. Of course, I was afraid. There was no response from him. I moved a bit closer again. "Mister! Hello! Can you open your eyes?!" I shouted again and slowly, I saw his eyes open.
Those eyes were bloodshot, and green veins popped out on his forehead. I guess he was badly injured."Who are you and how are you here?"
He only stared at me and did not respond.
'Hopeless', I thought. Why was I even asking who he was? "Could you please hang in there? I will go get people to rescue you. Just keep your head afloat, breathe in and out, you will be fine okay?" I assured him, feeling so concerned. Then I ran back to get some people to come for him.I was hoping to see Leo because I guess I could relate more with him. Getting to the entrance of the resort, I saw both Leo and Karima at the designated parking lots, standing beside her car and talking.
Without a second thought, I ran over to where they were. I was panting heavily when I stopped.
"Karima...blood." "What are you saying, Mira? Calm down." "Someone is...dying...in the pool." I managed to say and the looks on their face was priceless of course."Leo, get the medical team!" She said and then ran back with me to where I had seen the man.
To my utmost shock, none of the pools were red, and...there was no dying man!
For a while there, I thought I was dreaming, but I was not. How possible could it be? I clearly saw the man in the pool filled with bloody earlier so why was it looking like nothing had happened there?I had never been so confused in my entire life. Really?Karima turned around swiftly to face me and immediately, I started panicking. "I swear Karima, I am sure of what I saw." "Where is it now..Mira?" She asked but I had no reply to give her, no reasonable response."I am just as surprised. There was a man...here... literally...floating at the centre of this pool right here." I tried explaining even though I sounded crazy to myself, how would I convince her when I was also too confusion myself? She sighed and then brought out her phone. "Leo, don't bother. There's nothing." I heard her say then she dropped the call. I felt so bad that she probably felt I had alarmed them falsely."I am not lying, please. I am sure of what I saw." I persisted and then she released a soft, slight smile
Karima engaged me throughout the walk quite so well and by the time we returned to the huge apartment complex, we stopped at the point where we were going to part ways."I will be making something delicious for dinner, you want some?" She offered, smiling broadly. "Ugh... it's fine, you don't need to--""Mira, it's okay. I'll bring the food box to you later." She insisted and then I stepped out of the elevator, while she went up to her own floor. As I approached my door, I started feeling sore pains all over. "What's happening to me?" I muttered to myself as I tried dragging my feet into the apartment. The moment I got in, the pain became unbearable and I lost my balance. I had never felt like this in my entire life. I groaned loudly as I crawled into the living room in pains. "Ughh!!!" It was so loud and I was no longer sounding like myself. "What the fuck is going on?" I groaned loudly again and this time I felt my bones enlarging and poking out of my skin. My nails grew into
The leather coat Karima got for me turned out to be so nice on me. I stepped out of the room and had breakfast with her, then we started heading to the resort in her car.I felt the strong urge to ask her who she really was, I believed that would answer every other question that I had for her. After raising what turned out to be a false alarm about a dying person, she did not flinch or scold me at all, as if she knew and understood what i was talking about. My head was filled with these thoughts that I did not realize she was talking to me."What did you say?" I asked her, after getting to realize that she was speaking to me."You look lost, Mira. What's the problem?" She inquired, looking at me and also tried to focus on the wheel at the same time."Oh, it's just...a few things bothering my mind." I let out, hoping to lead something but I decided to back down."Care to share them?" She asked nicely and alluringly. "No, I would not want to bother you. I will get it sorted out." I re
I was officially a lobby agent at Greenvile, and a part of me felt excited. Leo brought me a tray that had a chest badge with my name engraved on it, a journal that had my name also engraved on it and a pen, meant to be tucked in my chest pocket.I fixed it all on and I was good to go. I followed him down to where-heavens-know because he had instructed me to follow, claiming that the whole of team 2 were waiting for me. We finally got there, and it turned out to be Karima's office. The meeting started as soon as we got there, with Leo going to where Karima was."Good morning everyone." Karima started. "For our new team members, I am Karima and here is my co-team lead, Leo." She paused and gave Leo room to make any further statements of introduction. He made some corporate gestures. I guess some people eventually made it past that training, and I felt bad that I did not get to experience the last phase of the training."So, you new members will get a manual from me, on how things h
I left the dressing room with Leo and headed to the first floor. "We are sorry for just arriving, Mira was stuck with preparing for her assignment." Leo said to Karima before I could even say anything. He defended me quite well there. The rest of the team were already around and so we had to be on two straight lines and then walked out the moment a convoy arrived at the entrance of the resort.I swallowed so hard, to totally suppress my anxiety and it was working. "I can do this." I muttered quietly to myself as the climax moment was here. One of the guys stationed at the entrance of the resort opened the door so the VVIP guest could step out and I stepped closer to the door, ready to welcome him. Leo had mentioned to me earlier that we all used to get a profiling on our guests to know the kind of person they were but Karima did not do this time around. The reason, he too could not explain.Either way, I trusted my long period of rehearsals to not fail me. I was meant to bow at nin
I later got his profile and I diligently went through it on the computer in my allocated space. It was a general office for the team but her spaces were demarcated well. Only the team leads, Karima and Leo, had their own special offices. My space wasn't bad actually. It was well furnished and we had a kitchen room where we could eat lunch, make instant coffee and tea, too. Leo forwarded the VVIP guest's profile to me and I was quick to go through it.Jordan Reign, 30, he barely talks-prefers to listen and observe, that was very obvious at our first meeting. He prefers a perfectly quiet environment, loves nature...and I guessed that was why his suite was openly facing the ocean, with green trees around, it was also stated that he was cranky and short-tempered.He loved absolute order and efficiency, cigars, and classical music. His dislikes stated noise and disorder, unnecessary attention, I guessed he preferred staying in the shadows. He hated it when people talked too much, we had t
While Karima was out, I played so vigorously on the piano in her apartment. I had been on it for hours and I did not plan to stop anytime soon. At some point, I relaxed my finger muscles and played a solemn piece I had always played right from my learning days. I knew how to play it best! And so that was what I planned to play for Jordan Reign. After an extra hour of rehearsing, I took my fingers off the piano. If I stayed any more minute, my fingers could become stiff and eventually mess up the real performance. I glanced at the time and saw that it was 2 at midnight. I sighed gently and I looked around, standing up from the bench I sat on. My body was almost numb. It was my first time staying this long at her apartment, being there even. Her apartment's theme was a bit plainer than mine and I guessed she had a bland taste, but everything there was luxurious.I walked to her kitchen to get a glass of water as I was dehydrated, then as I gulped down the natural liquid, I heard some
I was woken up in the morning by Karima's call. I swear, if she had not called me at that time, I would have gotten late for work. Apparently, she was back at her apartment to prepare for the day. Immediately the call ended, I walked into the shower and had a warm bath, then I put on casual wears with sneakers then waited patiently for her to be done.I would have gone up to her unit but the trauma I had the previous day was real, funny enough so I just waited on my floor. She reached out to me when she was done and we headed down to Greenville Resort together. "Are you well prepared for this?" She asked and I nodded.. "I am." I replied amidst my various thoughts. Ugh... there was a whole lot on my mind but I was not losing it yet. The stuff with Karima's music box bothered me, combined with my unsettled tummy out of the nervousness towards playing for our dear VVIP guest. It was even the way Karima was selling me out. I had not worked in any organization before but she was sure
