Chapter 18

Alexandra was about to say something in response when a loud noise outside distracted her. It seemed like there was a commotion outside the hospital room. They could hear angry voices and hurried footsteps outside in the hallway which was accompanied by the sharp clatter of heels on the marbled floor.

Then,the door opened suddenly with a loud and harsh slam revealing a very beautiful woman,her luscious dark hair in perfect waves over her shoulders. Her makeup looked like it was applied expertly by a professional but her face was twisted in anger as she glared at the tiny nurse on the other side of the door.

"What do you think you're doing by trying to stop me?" The beautiful lady spat out, anger dripping from her voice. "Do you have any idea who I am and what I can do to you?"

The nurse looked flustered and appeared like she was about to burst into tears as she tried to calm the angry lady down. "Please Miss, you have to understand. Please —Mr Giorgio really needs to rest. It's very rude to barge into a patients room"

The beautiful woman stepped closer to the nurse as though she was about to strike her. "Did you just call me rude? I'm being very lenient, if you don't take your sorry self out of my way, I swear I'll make you pay. I'll get you fired.is that clear?"

The nurse looked like she was really going to cry as one could see the tiredness on her face. She opened and closed her mouth in silent protest before she turned to Luca's bed to see him staring at the commotion. Luca sighed heavily, irritation written on his face. "You can let her in. Just go back to your post"

With a grateful nod,she left happy that she didn't have to deal with the obnoxious woman anymore closing the door behind her as she smiled. As a nurse,she have encountered many rich people like this who thinks they owned everybody.

When the were finally alone, the woman's entire expression changed. Her lips trembled in a fake pout as crocodile tears filled her eyes. She raised her perfectly manicured hand to her chest as if trying to stop herself from crying.

"Oh Luca" She called out in a dramatic voice as she walked closer to his bed. "You'll never believe what those pesky nurses tried to do to me! They were trying to hurt me and ruin my perfect skin because theirs looks like shit. Can you believe that?" She cried, wiping her non-existent tears. "I took the time to come see you even when I could have been somewhere else and they treated me like some kind of... Some kind of nobody like there selves"

Alexandra stood quietly watching everything from the side of the room with an arched brow. She had seen plenty fake tears from customers who always complained of an issue so that they'd get a refund but she had to admit,she was almost impressed by her act. Almost. Who the hell was this woman?

Luca had an unimpressed look on his face as he stared at her. His jaw was tightened and his fingers was flexed tightly as he tried to control his anger. "Adele" He muttered in irritation.

So her name is Adele. Alexandra thought to herself.

Adele's face lit up like a Christmas tree and Christmas eves at the sound of her name being uttered by him and she stepped closer to him still oblivious to Alexandra's presence in the room. "Oh my Luca, darling, you had me really worried. I thought I was going to lose you when I had what happened so I rushed to the hospital to see you immediately"

A dark expression crossed Luca's face. "And how did you hear about what happened exactly?"

She flipped the hair hovering over her face over her shoulders in a practiced motion. "Your father called me obviously. I'm not some sort of detective or something. He insisted I come comfort you"

"Of course, it had to be my sorry excuse of a father" Luca muttered bitterly to himself, running a hand harshly down his face.

Adele however wasn't fazed by his reaction. She sat like a princess on the edge of his bed raising her manicured fingers to reach for his arm. "You have nothing to worry about anymore. I'm here now, I'll take care of you my love"

My love? Alexandra stared at her questionably. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

A sweet smile played on Adele's lips as she leaned towards Luca —until her eyes caught sight of Alexandra in the room. She hadn't noticed that there was another person in the room with them.

She raised her brow in a silent question, her lips pressing into a pout as she looked at Alexandra as though she was an insect that somehow made it into her personal space.

"And who the fuck," Adele asked slowly her voice dripping with entitlement, "are you? And what are you even doing here?"
