Chapter 4

Alexandra walked into her apartment, turning on the light to illuminate the dark room. She still felt disoriented from the stranger's earlier. She didn't know if she should be happy that he remembered her or scared that he did. She threw her key inside a bowl and proceeded to remove her shoes.

She couldn't help but let her mind drift to the strange man. He was a very hard man to forget. Alexandra was not one to swoon over handsome faces but something about this man ignited this spark of attraction in her.

The way his hair was combed, the slight scruff on his jaw which added a raw edge to his look and those intense brown eyes that seemed like it was staring right into her soul

She was about to remove the second shoe when something on her table caught her eyes. Walking closer she noticed a tiny wrapped gift and a note on it.

"How did this get here?" She muttered under her breath as she picked it up examining the gift. Opening the note, she recognized the familiar handwriting immediately.

"You looked beautiful today"

She read the words on the note over and over again, already having a clue of who dropped this gift here.

Folding the note in her hand, she stepped outside to look for the gate guard. Spotting him in his usual spot, she hurried over to him. When he heard her coming closer,he turned to her before releasing a frustrated sigh. He's been avoiding her since that night and she didn't really care because she had never liked him before.

"Good evening sir,umm did you see anyone go into my apartment today?"

The guard looked at her wearily before turning back to his phone. "Nah, ain't seen no one"

Alexandra could tell that he was being sincere. She looked around hoping to see anyone outside. She left the diner less than thirty minutes ago so that was a short time for him to keep a gift in her apartment.

"Were you in your post all through the day!" Alexandra asked, squeezing her hand shut.

"Yea I was,is something wrong?," he asked, looking at her in concern..

"No,I…I'm fine" She said before turning back to head back inside her apartment. She was worried that someone could get into her apartment without being seen. Locking the door behind her,she sat on her couch, the note still crumbled in her hand.

"Tell him I'm not interested," Luca scowled, leaning back in his chair. Marcus told him that his father fixed a family dinner tomorrow and the whole family is expected to be there.

"Unfortunately he didn't give you the option not to come. He said it's an order" Marcus said, his experience blank. "It's just for dinner, what could go wrong?"

"That old man never calls for just dinner, he always has something up his sleeves " Luca said with a bored look on his face.

Luca sighed, running a hand through his hair as he tried to focus on the current conversation but a particular brown-eyed beauty found its way into his head. "Whatever Marc, I'll go. I just need to rest I'm pretty tired"

"Fine, if you say so," Marcus said grudgingly. "And there's something else you should hear, it's about the man in the basement"

Luca leaned over interested in what Marcus had to say. "What about him?"

"We weren't able to get anything important from him. He bit his tongue and choked on his blood but before he died he mentioned that the main threat is someone very close to you"

Luca remained silent for a few second before he spoke, " I need you to double the security camera and make sure that there's no hide spot"

"I'll make sure about that, but you have to be really careful. Never trust anyone and mind who you're with" Marcus said giving Luca a long look before he left the study. Luca's thoughts drifted to possible people that were stupid enough to cross him and he thought of his dad but he wasn't like that.

Luca's phone rang abruptly, pulling him from his thoughts. Picking the phone up,he answered the call.

"I've delivered the package to the lady's apartment just like you instructed" the voice said from the other end of the phone.

A smirk made its way on Luca's lips at the man's words. He leaned back on his chair twirling a pen in his free hand. "Good job, Donnie," he replied. "And no one saw you go in or leave her apartment?"

" Yes sir,no one did," the man said on the other line.

" I want you to watch over her apartment tonight," Luca said before hanging up the call.

After Luca made sure that she was fast asleep,he limped to her phone that was on the table, his bullet wound still hurting. Dialing Marcus' number,he placed a call and waited for him to answer the phone.

"Marcus," He said in a low voice as soon as Marcus answered. "Check the GPS location on this number and come get me. Bring me a change of clothes"

Marcus didn't say anything and just hung up. Luca deleted the number from her phone before something on the table caught his eyes. It was an envelope. Opening it,he noticed that they were bill letters.

"Alexandra Smith," he said, reading her name off the letter. He placed the envelope back on the table before making his way to her bedroom. He managed to pick the door lock on her bedroom door quietly without alerting her. He stared at her peaceful face as she slept. From where he stood he could hear her soft breath echoing through the quiet room.

"How can you sleep so peacefully with a stranger in your house?"

He noticed the way her hair fell over her face like a curtain of silky locks. The dim light of the moon streaming through the window casted a glow on her smooth, unblemished skin. He watched as her chest rose with each breath she took and how the thin fabric of her gown barely concealed the gentle curves of her body.

He stared at her watching how vulnerable she looked, his eyes drinking in her face. He hadn't expected her to take him home. He heard a movement outside and looked through the window to see Marcus making his way towards her apartment. He locked the door behind him as he made his way to the living room.

For two months, he's been watching her, invading her privacy. He knew it wasn't okay to stalk her but he wasn't one to follow the rules. He had men watching her and reporting how her days went to him. He knew that he shouldn't get close to her to avoid any crazy thoughts from forming in his head and to keep her safe.

A sweet girl like Alexandra didn't didn't deserve to be in his world but he was also selfish.

"Alexandra, what are you doing to me?"
