“Girlfriend?” Brixton’s expression shifted from confusion to shock. He stood there, staring at me as if trying to process my words.

“What are you talking about?”

I scoffed and narrowed my eyes at him. “You were with a woman yesterday in your office. Isn’t she your girlfriend?”

“Or maybe, a fling?” I cleared my throat, trying to shift my tone back to normal after realizing that I probably sound too affected that it was quite embarrassing.

Would he think that I was reacting too much? I suddenly had the urge to pinch myself.

“She’s not a fling.” Brixton spoke calmly afterwards. “And most importantly, Melanie is not my girlfriend.”

Ah, so her name is Melanie…

“Whatever she is to you, it’s not my business anyways.” I find myself regaining some composure immediately a few seconds later. “I only know that it’s appropriate to maintain a sense or propriety between us.”

“Damn it,” He grunted and tried to take a step closer towards me again, but I immediately took a step backwards.
