Revealing the truth to the kids

“Mommy… Uncle Hudson and Uncle Brixton are so niceeee! Can they just be our daddy?”

Bella’s innocent question struck me like a lightning. My heart skipped a beat a beat, and my mind raced as I tried to process what she had just asked.

The three of them were now staring at me, their eyes wide as they waited for an answer I wasn’t even prepared to give.

I swallowed hard, feeling my throat tightening. I couldn’t think of any words to respond. But then, Calvin’s soft voice cut through the silence as he stared at his siblings.

“But we already have a daddy, right? He’s away at work…” His innocent and thoughtful tone echoed through the room.

The three fell silent once more. Calvin’s statement hung in the air, and their little faces were now deep in thought.

My heart clenched as I realized the consequences of the lie I had told them in the past – about a daddy was always busy, who was always away and couldn’t come home.

“But daddy is always away…” Clyde was the first to break the silence
