LEAH’S POV

My body turned still as I faced the screen with both Hudson and Brixton’s faces on it. It was all too sudden that I didn’t even know what to do at that moment. My heart was pounding too loud that it kept ringing in my ears, leaving me feel breathless.

“Daddy, mommy’s here now!”

I snapped out of my stunned stupor when I heard the kids’ enthusiastic voices. I pressed my lips tightly as I tried to suppress the sudden shock and nervousness of facing Hudson and Brixton.

“Hey…”

It was Hudson who spoke first, beside him was Brixton who also had a gentle yet somewhat teasing smile on his lips.

“Hi.” I bit my lip afterwards, mentally slapping myself for how constricted I sounded just now. I could only hope they didn’t notice my reaction earlier.

Everything about this… this call… just feels odd and new. And it was sending a foreign surge of feelings inside me that I couldn’t even quite name.

My body was rigid after that one word I just said. Contrary to earlier, my heart was pounding
