The next day, I tried to focus on work at the office. But my mind kept wandering back to yesterday’s events. Brixton’s kiss had left a lingering feeling. I could still feel my lips tingling from the sensation he brought upon me, but at the same time, a bitter feeling spread across my chest as I recall our conversation yesterday.

I sat on my desk, staring blankly at my computer screen when Jane’s voice snapped me back to reality.

“Earth to Leah!” She waved her hand in front of me and I blinked.

“Sorry, what was that?” I mumbled in slight embarrassment. “I was thinking about something...”

I furrowed my brows, but she only playfully moved closer to me while still sitting in her swivel chair.

“I heard Brixton Alistaire visited the field yesterday. The staffs saw that you two had a little chat. Alone.”
