Blaming Game

Mallory’s POV

Walking home with shaking hands. I can’t believe this. I tell myself.

“Congratulations, Mrs. Kinsley. You’re eating for two!” The words that the doctor said kept playing in my mind like a broken record.

“Ben, don’t address me by that name. You know he doesn’t like to hear it.” I say forcing a smile.

“Mallory, you know for a fact that he would love to hear that. And this news of him having a kid with you he would be so happy” Ben says.

Ben has been the Kinsley’s family doctor for years. Starting from his father and passed down to him. He is also the one and only best friend of my good for nothing husband, Helios.

“Yeah, if he believed all the words you said and not Madeline. I’m sure he would be over the moon happy with this news.” I say sighing.

“Come on Mallory. He would believe me sooner or later, just stick around.” He says.

I sighed shaking my head “ Keep this news between you and me please? I want to fix things first before telling him or anyone anything.”

“But you’re keeping it, right?” He asks.

I smiled “yes, of course. It’s my child. Thank you, Doctor.”

“And please keep this for me. This is sealed but when the time is right, please give it to Helios.”

And I left his office. Now, I am here walking home, not sure of what I should do.

I know he would not be here at home now, and I am sure as hell he is with his true love, his saviour, Madeline.

If only I can convince him of the truth.

I went in our bedroom and changed into my pyjamas. I laid down in bed, caressing my tummy.

“I’ll make sure you get all the love that you deserve.”

If he found out about this baby, I don’t know what I would do. That night, he was so drunk and I took care of him, but only something happened between the two of us.

When I woke up he just coldly said that I should never tell anyone that something happened between us and left coldly.

I never expected I can get pregnant.

I sighed and turned over to my side staring at the window.

I heard the door open and then closed harshly. I didn’t move and just pretended to sleep.

When suddenly I was yanked out of my bed and I screamed in fear.

And then our eyes met. Helios. With his green and blue eyes staring down at me. If he wasn’t a friend I used to know before, I would have been afraid.

But I got used to this.

“What lies did Madeline told you this time that you had to yanked me out of the bed?” I ask calmly.

“Get rid of it.” He said angrily.

Confused I stared at him.

“Don’t play dumb with me. Get that fucking thing growing in you aborted!” He says and my eyes widen.

He chuckled “what? You thought I wouldn’t know? Good thing Madeline saw you today and told me the truth. You think you can keep it and use that thing for me to give you more money, Mallory?! Huh!?”

Madeline, he believed her again. And no matter what I say he wouldn't believe me. If I am only after his money, I would have stolen all of it and ran away.

And how could he refer to our baby as just a thing he could easily can get rid of?

“No!” I say and he laughed. Then he pulled me out of the room screaming, but no one would hear me.

He placed me in his car and holding both my hands as his driver drove us to the hospital.

He then carried me screaming and crying begging him, and he placed me on the hospital bed.

“Ben, get that thing removed from her now!” He commanded.

Helios had be tied down the bed crying for mercy.

“Please, let me keep it.”

“You think I want another man’s child?”

“What?” I ask whispering.

“Madeline saw you today and told me all about it. She even knows that this child is not mine. So, fucking get rid of it!”

“No. It’s yours. How could I betray my husband like that? I promise Helios, it’s yours. Please believe me!” I begged.

He scoffed and looked at Ben. “Do it now, I won’t raise another man’s baby. And you know why.”

Ben nodded “Please, Ben. You know the truth.”

Ben didn’t say anything they pushed my bed in the operating room as I begged them not to.

As the door closes, I see Helios eyes burned with rage while mine I knew was begging.

When I opened my eyes, I saw nothing but emptiness. I don’t even feel any pain but my heart aches for the baby I couldn’t watch to grow.

“Well, well. Who’s awake?” I hear Madeline’s voice.

I laughed inside. Of course, they would leave me in a room with her.

“Awwww. Why? Too weak to move or talk? I told you to get away from my man and you married him. This is what you get, you deserve this.”

“That baby had nothing to do with this, how could you, falsify documents to tell him that that baby we lost wasn’t his?” I say.

“Come on, Mallory. That Baby was his, Mallory and you know for a fact that he always wanted a baby. But first born should come from me, not you. Now that I killed that baby, you know who is next? You.”

She says smiling.

“Just do it.” I say and she laughed.

“Not yet and oh! besides, All I did was printed some shit out and showed it to him. Hell, even without proof he would believe me.”

I didn’t say anything because she’s right. Even without documents he would believe her, like always.

“Let me show it to you.” She says and she poured a glass of water on her head, throwing it on the ground, slapped herself so hard and screamed.

Then Ben and Helios came in immediately.

“Helios, I just asked her if she feels fine when she woke up and was trying to give her water but look what she did.” Madeline acted.

“I’m sorry I left you in here with her.” Helios says while comforting Madeline.

I scoffed. “I’m weak and in bed laid back. You think I can still do this to her?” I ask my husband.

“There’s no limits of what you can do.” Helios says coldly then leaves the room with Madeline.

“Did she hurt you?” Ben asks.

I shake my head. “You all hurt me.”

“I promise I wouldn’t. Just trust me okay?” He says but I didn’t have the energy anymore to fight.

I stand up and gather my clothes to change. “I’m going back to the mansion tonight, I don’t feel pain. Thank you for giving me meds to not feel anything tonight.”

Even though he tried and stop me. I went on my way.

As I hail a cab, I saw Helios and Madeline get into his car hand in hand and drove away.

My life is a joke.

Then I went home. It was already dawn by now, and I laid in our bed once again.

And I hear the door open but never closed. I assumed it’s him but didn’t bother to check.

Suddenly, my mouth was gagged and even though I screamed no one would hear.

I felt sharp pain onto my legs and arms, and the person was aiming my heart next, I couldn’t fight.

Luckily, the main door opened so loudly the person didn’t had the chance, ran towards the window and slipped off.

I know I’m bleeding but I can’t seem to ask for help or maybe I don’t want to be helped.

I don’t know how long have passed but all I know is that I am going to see my baby now.

Then everything went black.
