Chapter 60 - Rogue Attack

It was four in the morning when the alarm bell rang, waking the entire pack. The alarm bell rang only once in Nathan’s lifetime; he was five years old then. He didn’t even remember anything; his father had only told him the story when he was fifteen.  Twenty-five years ago, there was a threat of war from the Shadow Pack, and an intelligence report made his father and his officials believe that a war had been declared against them. The officials rang the bell to alert the pack. Every pack member knew the drill when the alarm sounded. The children and elders were sent to the basement of the Pack company along with the omegas. Those who can fight must fight alongside warriors and pack officials, except that it was a false alarm. There was no threat. There was no war. But this is a different c

Chapter 61 - Traitors

[Sebastian’s POV] I stayed with Agatha the whole day inside the former Luna’s chamber. She slept through the day while Nathan was in the Pack company, dealing with the aftermath of the rogue attack. I heard his officials talk about the losses the pack recently had because of canceled deals. I feel bad for Nathan. If what he said was true, he suffered blow after blow when I left the River Bed Pack two years ago. No wonder he acts like a complete jerk sometimes.  Perhaps I can help him a little with the pack business while we are here. When I go back to Silver Mountain or wherever Agatha wants to settle, Nathan should be stable by then.  But what worries me is not the business deals

Chapter 62 - Is That a Yes?

[Agatha’s POV]  “What do you mean they were missing?” I yelled. I could feel my hair lifting in the air as electricity sparked from my fingertips. I could feel my jaw locked as my eyes burned with the desire to destroy everything they saw.  My throat thickened as if I swallowed something that blocked my air pipe, gagging, gasping for air.  Nathan stood in silence with his gaze fixed on mine, stunned by my sudden reaction to his words. His Adam’s apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed the embarrassment of losing grip on our common enemies. He took deep breaths, perhaps in an attempt to calm himself.

Chapter 63 - Let's Take This Somewhere Else

[Sebastian’s POV] Nathaniel asked the omegas to set up a table on the rooftop of the packhouse, and it looked divine. I have never seen this side of Nate. He meticulously planned this dinner, this much is obvious. They spread green carpets that resembled a lawn, giving the place a natural ambiance. On either side of the entrance, a pile of white porcelain pots with three shades of peace lilies alternately rowed with pillar candles and tea lights stretched up until the foot of the elevated open-air dining table for three. The entire stretch was lighted by overhead fixtures of golden balloons hanging on low lights that looked like stars in the sky.  A trellis above the dining table was adorned by a loosely draped thin white fabric with a few white trum

Chapter 64 - I Know That Voice Very Well

[Agatha’s POV]  I was nervous. Somehow, I had conflicting thoughts about Bastien’s question about whether I had said yes to the dinner date. Does he mean date date? Or just a regular dinner date? Should I ask him? Argh!  My legs are still trembling. I have never been intimate with Nathan, but my attraction toward him is as much as my attraction toward Bastien. He can’t blame me, though, if I was a little distant from him. I still have doubts about him until now. He was a dominant alpha, but his actions were conflicting. I still recall how affectionate he was a few hours before he threw us to the dungeon. What if this intimacy is just one of his ploys? Will I keep falling victim to his games?

Chapter 65 - Why Can't I Remember?

[Sebastian POV] I was startled when I heard a dark laughter not far from where we slept last night. I opened my eyes; it was still dark. Was I dreaming? The space between Nate and I are still warm, but Agatha is no longer there.  I looked around instinctively to search for her. When my gaze fell on her figure, I shook Nate vigorously, and when he opened his eyes, I pointed to Agatha, and we both got up at the same time.  Agatha confirmed our suspicions by just uttering his name, “Baltazar?” she muttered. Nate and I growled in unison, but before we could reach them, Baltazar had already snatched Agatha by the waist and disappeared deep into the night. As Baltazar's winged figure wi

Chapter 66 - I Am Not Just a Warlock

[Third POV] On the outskirts of River Bed Pack lies an abandoned cottage, but now it was buzzing with activity. Eight cloaked men sat in the living room with Baltazar and Eon. The cottage had four rooms: one shared by Elaine and Laura, another for Agatha, and the rest trying to fit in the remaining two.  “Baltazar, when will you cure Laura? You promised me you will gather the men to reverse the curse,” Elaine asked Baltazar reluctantly, trying not to offend him.  Baltazar just rolled his eyes on Elaine without responding. Just then, Agatha stepped out of her room.  “Ahh, little witch,” Baltazar blurted, sarcasm thick in his tone. He was about to say something else

Chapter 67 - He's in the Hospital

[Agatha POV] I was pacing inside my room in the cottage. I feel like burning the entire River Bed Pack. I was so furious. I never knew Nathan to be such a jerk. No wonder he is still single, even at his age. No one can stand him. Cruel. Arrogant. Heartless. I returned to the cottage after meeting Nathan. I had to continue pretending that I was affected by the magic Elaine cast on it. I don’t know the extent of the magic; I was not here then, but she said we had to act like a normal family—whatever that meant. Elaine could pass as my mother, and I don’t know who would act like my father.  Laura has been tied to her bed and has lost her sanity. Partial magic was cast that day when we attacked the Phoenicia Covenant headquarters. The pentagr

Chapter 68 - A Witch

[Agatha’s POV] It has been one week since I  arrived. The doctors said Bastien has been showing signs of waking up. I spent my days at the hospital talking to Bastien. I told him I was pregnant, although I hadn’t actually taken a pregnancy test.  Luna, or, as she wanted me to call her, Mom, has been pampering me all week. She has sent me fresh fruits and food supplements, and she has assigned me an omega to cater to my every need. I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon. I never needed anyone to assist me, but the last thing I want right now is to offend the very people who treat me like they birthed me. It was a peaceful week, but I know this is temporary. I need to face Baltazar one day.  The driver Alpha, or Dad, assigned to me

Chapter 69 - Your Aunt

[Third POV] Agatha was sitting on the couch of Alpha Herod’s office. Bastien and Lily sat beside her while the former Alpha was on his chair behind the mahogany table. They were all waiting for the guest the former Luna asked her to meet.  She was crossing and uncrossing her arms and biting her lips while repeatedly glancing at the door in anticipation of the guests’ arrival or even a knock. Anything that can break her train of thought. Fear that another witch might threaten to take away her newfound peace. Although she trusts Luna Lily, she knows better that witches, in general, can’t be trusted. Her past experiences can attest to that. “Relax, Sweetheart. Why are you so tensed up?” Luna Lily asked Agatha sweetly while tappin
