[Sebastian POV]
I was startled when I heard a dark laughter not far from where we slept last night. I opened my eyes; it was still dark. Was I dreaming? The space between Nate and I are still warm, but Agatha is no longer there.
I looked around instinctively to search for her. When my gaze fell on her figure, I shook Nate vigorously, and when he opened his eyes, I pointed to Agatha, and we both got up at the same time.
Agatha confirmed our suspicions by just uttering his name, “Baltazar?” she muttered. Nate and I growled in unison, but before we could reach them, Baltazar had already snatched Agatha by the waist and disappeared deep into the night.
As Baltazar's winged figure wi
[Third POV]On the outskirts of River Bed Pack lies an abandoned cottage, but now it was buzzing with activity. Eight cloaked men sat in the living room with Baltazar and Eon. The cottage had four rooms: one shared by Elaine and Laura, another for Agatha, and the rest trying to fit in the remaining two.“Baltazar, when will you cure Laura? You promised me you will gather the men to reverse the curse,” Elaine asked Baltazar reluctantly, trying not to offend him.Baltazar just rolled his eyes on Elaine without responding. Just then, Agatha stepped out of her room.“Ahh, little witch,” Baltazar blurted, sarcasm thick in his tone. He was about to say something else
[Agatha POV]I was pacing inside my room in the cottage. I feel like burning the entire River Bed Pack. I was so furious. I never knew Nathan to be such a jerk. No wonder he is still single, even at his age. No one can stand him. Cruel. Arrogant. Heartless.I returned to the cottage after meeting Nathan. I had to continue pretending that I was affected by the magic Elaine cast on it. I don’t know the extent of the magic; I was not here then, but she said we had to act like a normal family—whatever that meant. Elaine could pass as my mother, and I don’t know who would act like my father.Laura has been tied to her bed and has lost her sanity. Partial magic was cast that day when we attacked the Phoenicia Covenant headquarters. The pentagr
[Agatha’s POV]It has been one week since I arrived. The doctors said Bastien has been showing signs of waking up. I spent my days at the hospital talking to Bastien. I told him I was pregnant, although I hadn’t actually taken a pregnancy test.Luna, or, as she wanted me to call her, Mom, has been pampering me all week. She has sent me fresh fruits and food supplements, and she has assigned me an omega to cater to my every need. I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon. I never needed anyone to assist me, but the last thing I want right now is to offend the very people who treat me like they birthed me. It was a peaceful week, but I know this is temporary. I need to face Baltazar one day.The driver Alpha, or Dad, assigned to me
[Third POV]Agatha was sitting on the couch of Alpha Herod’s office. Bastien and Lily sat beside her while the former Alpha was on his chair behind the mahogany table. They were all waiting for the guest the former Luna asked her to meet. She was crossing and uncrossing her arms and biting her lips while repeatedly glancing at the door in anticipation of the guests’ arrival or even a knock. Anything that can break her train of thought. Fear that another witch might threaten to take away her newfound peace. Although she trusts Luna Lily, she knows better that witches, in general, can’t be trusted. Her past experiences can attest to that.“Relax, Sweetheart. Why are you so tensed up?” Luna Lily asked Agatha sweetly while tappin
[Agatha’s POV]I watched as Bastien emptied his stomach inside Nathan’s room.“I’ll never get used to this kind of travel, baby,” he grumbled between gagging. I can’t help but chuckle. “Which one of us is pregnant, Bastien?” I teased him.“Arghh.” he came to me, fast approaching with arms stretched out.“Whoah, whoah, whoah. Hold right there, Mister.” I stopped him by showing him the palm of my hand while I took a step backward. “Wash your mouth first. I could smell that…” I moved my pointer finger in circles around his face and upper torso. "Acid you just dumped in there. You are not getting an
[Agatha POV]On instinct, I waved my hand, and the three of us were inside the bubble.Baltazar released an energy blast toward us just at the same time as the bubble was formed. It rocked us inside the bubble, and my head suddenly felt heavy and full due to the impact. I saw Bastien in my peripheral view as he put his palm on his mouth. I wouldn’t find his motion sickness funny inside this bubble, but I can’t blame him. Baltazar must have been furious. If we hadn’t made it inside the bubble in time, we would have been gone by now.I don’t know why I am fascinated with creating bubbles. Baltazar is right; I always hide inside them. Perhaps because my mother used them to save me during the attack on the coven on my sixte
“Al… Alpha?” Dr. Tim’s voice sounded again. He could not understand what he did wrong. Nate approached him and pulled his collar just as he was bending to pick up the surgical scissors from the floor. “Keep your distance from her,” he blurted out as his jaws clenched. Tim wrinkled his forehead, confused. “Alpha, I was just cleaning her wound. I have to examine and cleanse it to avoid infection,” Dr. Tim explained.Dr. Tim knew Nathan too well. He was short-tempered, and no one could reason with him. Whatever he said was final, so he tried not to agitate him further. He stilled himself and waited for the Alpha's next words, and just as he expected….“Call the other doctor!” he ordered loudly. The lady doctor stepped forward immediately, placed her
[Agatha POV]I don’t think I’m cut out to fulfill the prophecy. Although Aunt Gloria told me many things that were supposed to boost my morale, I haven’t contacted any species apart from my Alpha mates and my rogue family. Honestly, I have no idea where Nico and the other members of our little rogue family are. Could the prophecy be wrong? My thoughts were interrupted when someone cleared their throat, and my gaze landed on the middle-aged woman in front of me.“How can you help me, Flora?” I asked with a blank expression.I glared at Elaine. I know it is disrespectful, considering she is my aunt. But she was a traitor. She stole something that belonged to my mom and my other aunt, Hazel before she left the Mystic
[Third POV]It was eight a.m. when Agatha started stirring in bed. She was sandwiched between her two alphas, who seemed to have no plans of waking up. “Nate, Bastien, I have to pee,” she shook their shoulders violently as the pressure on her bladder built up. It had been like that since she got pregnant. Frequent visits to the bathroom to pee became her routine.“What is it, baby? Sleep some more. It’s still early,” Sebastian said sluggishly. “Bastien, if none of you move, I will pee on you, I swear,” she threatened, and both her mates moved instantly. Only then did she realize that they all slept naked. As Agatha threw the blanket out of her body, her gaze fell on her mates’ morning woods, and her face instantly flushed red before running toward the bathroom.
Warning: This chapter contains intimate details.[Sebastian POV]As the words left Aunt Gloria’s lips, everything in the hall seemed to be suspended in time, waiting for Nate’s reaction. It’s dead silent. We could almost hear each other’s heartbeats. Nate’s face paled as if someone poured a bucket of ice water on him. His body stiffened, his face stilled, and his breathing slowly got labored. His eyes remained on Aunt Gloria’s flushed face. I couldn’t tell if he was trying to process the information or if he just couldn’t accept it as his reality. The woman is a complete stranger to him. At least, I have known Aunt Gloria all my life, but it’s different for Nate. I couldn’t possibly vouch for her words because I don’t know the truth either.
[Third POV]It was as if the world around the main hall suddenly stopped. Louisa and Nico stepped closer to each other without breaking their gazes. When they are mere inches apart, “MATE,” they once muttered at the same time. Nico extended his hand to Louisa, palms facing up, and she placed hers into his hand in response. Without a word, they swiftly walked out of the room and found a quiet corner in the lobby of the packhouse.A few moments later, Nathan and Sebastian came to see Agatha. “It seems Nico found his mate, baby,” Seb shrugged as his eyes locked with his mate with a faint smile. Sebastian was happy now that the moon goddess got rid of two complications for them. Just then, Gloria approached Seb. She opened her mouth to say something, but her body stiffened as her gaze fell on Nathan. She abr
[Third POV]Four months later….The new coven will be ready in a couple of months, but Glinda wants to leave the River Bed Pack only after Agatha gives birth to her grandchildren. She wanted to ensure safe delivery and give the children her magical gift.Seven vehicles traveled from River Bed Pack to Silver Mountain: six SUVs and a container van. The first and the last SUVs carried five warriors each. In between them were five more; one was occupied by the tri-mates Nathan, Sebastian, and Agatha, the next belonged to the three sisters, and in the two remaining SUVs, Nico and his men tried to squeeze in. The last one was a container van packed with gifts from the River Bed Pack to the Silver Mountain as a token of peace for having Sebastian as one of the
[Sebastian POV]Nate gave Nico and his men a place to stay inside the pack temporarily. It’s a few blocks away from the packhouse. He requested to be near Agatha, but we both refused. I know I owe him a favor, but this is different. Agatha is our mate now, and we can’t allow her to be close to another alpha wolf. We hired someone to investigate Nico’s background, and his story turned out to be correct; he is the Alpha of the Midnight Pack. I also asked my father, and even though he heard about Nico’s banishment five years ago, he can not confirm what he looks like. Since he is the head Alpha now, we decided to extend him the common courtesy every head Alpha deserves, trying to amend the misunderstanding about the rogue attack two years ago and the torture he suffered. Nate and I decide on everything about pack matters. I am officially an alpha of the River Bed Pack now, co-alpha, to be precise. Nate decided to announce the tri-mate to the pack last month during Agatha’s introduction a
[Agatha’s POV]Everything is pitch black. I hear voices and distinct chatter, but I don’t understand what they’re saying. I have a terrible headache, my right hand is itchy, and everything smells like antiseptic. I tried to open my eyes, but when I did, bright light assaulted my pupils. I raise my hand to shield my eyes from too much light. At the same time, I hear a few sets of footsteps rushing toward me. A gentle hand firmly holds mine down, stretching it along the soft bedding.“You’re awake, princess!” a familiar voice scream-whispered next to my ear. “You can open your eyes now,” she added. When my eyes fluttered open, I saw something a few inches above my head, covering my eyes from the brightness of the fluorescent light; it was a medical chart. I scanned the
[Sebastian’s POV]Our eyes are fixed on the wisps as it slowly emerges from Agatha’s crown. They have a tiny human-like form with arms and legs in a bluish hue, dancing playfully. Their bodily movements were swift, as if they were telling us something. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it feels longer than that, at least for me, it is.After the wisps blended into one, it vanished before us. Just then, Agatha’s eyes blankly stared at us, her expression unreadable. Slowly, her body tilted sideways as if she would fall on the ground; her mother’s reflexes were the fastest. Or perhaps she knew this would happen all along and prepared herself for it. Not that I’m justifying being slow. Of course, I would have loved it to be me who caught her, but, well, no, it wasn’t.
[Agatha’s POV]It’s hard for me to focus right now since I can see my mates floating from my peripheral view. But maybe this is what Baltazar exactly wanted to happen: use my alphas to distract me. Then, I will not let him. I threw one last glance at my mates and whispered an oath to the wind, “We will win this war, no matter what.”I shifted my gaze to Baltazar and taunted him, “I see that you finally came out of your shell now, getting desperate, are we? Can we no longer wait for the next full moon? Pity!” I stepped sideways, making sure that my mates were out of range when I fired against Baltazar. He narrowed his eyes on me, and I fought hard not to steal a glance at Nate and Bastien’s floating forms. I can’t give him an idea about my thoughts and plans. “You are well-connected, Baltazar, I give you that. I never thought you’d manage to fool a lot of warlocks in the region for them to come out of their hiding. What did you promise them? Power? Resources? What?” I asked with a
[Third POV]After the alarm bells rang, the River Bed Pack descended into chaos. Sebastian and Nathaniel hurried downstairs, stopping by the guest rooms assigned to Glinda and Hazel. Seb knocked twice; when Glinda opened the door, he saw that both sisters were in the same room; he informed them about the alarm bell. “There was an attack on the pack. You can stay in your room, but can you try to see where Agatha is? Or... ” he hesitated slightly, dragging out the last few words. “You can help us,” he concluded.Glinda swiped her hand across Seb and Nathan like a detector, and her palms lit up when it passed through their chests. “Your protection is very strong, sons. You don’t need anything else,” she smiled. She gave you an amulet?” Seb gasped. How could he forget the amet
