  [Third POV] Nathan was pacing in the living room of his suite the whole night. They didn’t sleep even for a moment. Sebastian and Agatha remained on the couch as they watched Nate’s eyes alternately change colors from blood red to midnight black a few times. He continuously murmured something unintelligible, all while maintaining a fierce demeanor.  Nathaniel was a mixture of unresolved emotions all at once: worried, furious, confused, and pained. He lost too much in a short time. Too many unexplained events happened in the pack in the past couple of years, and most investigations hit a dead wall, leaving him increasingly disoriented.  [Agatha POV] The ear-shattering shrieks startled me awake. I didn’t even notice falling asleep. Perhaps this metal strap restraining my magic had been draining my energy. It could also be because we didn’t get a minute of sleep last night. My attention jumped back to that shrill voice. Elaine was struggling, trying to use her power to remove the cuffs, but it was futile.  Any movement she makes results in deeper skin burns and further exhaustion. I wonder what kind of spell they put in these cuffs and who cast the spells. The smell of burned flesh filled my nostrils, making me extremely uncomfortable. In the earlier days, witches are being burned alive in the town hall. Although I have never witnessed one, I always fear that I will face the same fate one day.

The moment I saw a tear falling from her eye, I felt like protecting her from all forms of pain and danger. It breaks my heart to see her in pain. She doesn’t deserve all the suffering she endured over time. She is so young, so innocent, so pure. Life has never been fair to her. I want to chastise the moon goddess for allowing her to suffer this much. I could have taken her two years ago to give her the comfort and love she deserves and longs for. But I didn’t know she was my mate then. If I could only turn back the hands of time. If only I could…I cradle her in my arms as she cries her heart out.   [Sebastian POV] It’s hard to control Six. He is a strong Alpha wolf and very possessive about his mate. I fought so hard to restrain him from marking Agatha the night we mated. His canines were out and nearly touched that soft flesh in Agatha’s neck. I was relieved when I noticed that her eyes were shut at the time. I loved how responsive she was with my touch. With every hard thrust, I met with her writhing beneath me. She was so tight, so sensitive, and so delicate. Perhaps it was the same reason Six struggled to control himself.   I understand Six. I want to do the same and seal our bond, but I can’t mark her without asking permission first. Although she agreed to mate with me, bearing my mark on her neck is an entirely different story.
