 [Agatha’s POV] My eyes fluttered open once, twice, and I finally managed to keep it open on the third attempt. My head was heavy, as if it was banged against the wall, and my body was stiff. The whole place was shaking, and the sound of the roaring engine captured my attention. I looked around my surroundings as realization hit me: I was lying on the seat of a moving vehicle, a van. My legs were numbed. I can’t move. “Argh,” I groaned. Just then, a head appeared between the seats in front of me. “You are awake?” Nico asked. I stretched my hands to reach out and hold on to his backseat. He offered his hand, and I took it to balance myself until I sat up straight.  [Third POV] After the alarm bells rang, the River Bed Pack descended into chaos. Sebastian and Nathaniel hurried downstairs, stopping by the guest rooms assigned to Glinda and Hazel. Seb knocked twice; when Glinda opened the door, he saw that both sisters were in the same room; he informed them about the alarm bell. “There was an attack on the pack. You can stay in your room, but can you try to see where Agatha is? Or... ” he hesitated slightly, dragging out the last few words. “You can help us,” he concluded. Glinda swiped her hand across Seb and Nathan like a detector, and her palms lit up when it passed through their chests. “Your protection is very strong, sons. You don’t need anything else,” she smiled. She gave you an amulet?” Seb gasped. How could he forget the amet

 [Sebastian’s POV] Our eyes are fixed on the wisps as it slowly emerges from Agatha’s crown. They have a tiny human-like form with arms and legs in a bluish hue, dancing playfully. Their bodily movements were swift, as if they were telling us something. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it feels longer than that, at least for me, it is.   After the wisps blended into one, it vanished before us. Just then, Agatha’s eyes blankly stared at us, her expression unreadable. Slowly, her body tilted sideways as if she would fall on the ground; her mother’s reflexes were the fastest. Or perhaps she knew this would happen all along and prepared herself for it. Not that I’m justifying being slow. Of course, I would have loved it to be me who caught her, but, well, no, it wasn’t. 

[Sebastian POV]Nate gave Nico and his men a place to stay inside the pack temporarily. It’s a few blocks away from the packhouse. He requested to be near Agatha, but we both refused. I know I owe him a favor, but this is different. Agatha is our mate now, and we can’t allow her to be close to another alpha wolf. We hired someone to investigate Nico’s background, and his story turned out to be correct; he is the Alpha of the Midnight Pack. I also asked my father, and even though he heard about Nico’s banishment five years ago, he can not confirm what he looks like. Since he is the head Alpha now, we decided to extend him the common courtesy every head Alpha deserves, trying to amend the misunderstanding about the rogue attack two years ago and the torture he suffered. [Third POV] It was as if the world around the main hall suddenly stopped. Louisa and Nico stepped closer to each other without breaking their gazes. When they are mere inches apart, “MATE,” they once muttered at the same time. Nico extended his hand to Louisa, palms facing up, and she placed hers into his hand in response.
