Nikolas freed his hand from her hold. “Just don’t touch me if you want me to stay away from you,” he said gruffly, walking around to his side of the bed and lying down, with his back towards her. Brooklyn gaped at him, taken aback by his sudden outburst. She went towards her side and lay down, wide awake, listening to his angry breathing. She had no idea when she fell asleep but when she woke up, she found Sally by her bedside. “The twins need a feed, Brooklyn,” she said, gently. Brooklyn got up and noted that it was the wee hours of the morning, a few minutes still left for sunrise.
