Chapter Seventy-Nine

A worried Nikolas searched for the packet of condo*s that he had stashed away somewhere the day he brought Brooklyn back with him. However, his mind didn’t agree to this as she hadn’t healed properly after childbirth. He didn’t want to hurt her but then if he denied her, she might misunderstand him again. Clearly, in a dilemma, Nikolas picked up a fresh set of underwear and a pair of sweatpants and pulled them on. He would have to explain to Brooklyn that they couldn’t make love till she had completely healed. He was about to walk out of the closet when his glance fell upon a laptop. Curious, he checked the brand new device, having never seen it before. Was it Brooklyn’s? Where did it come from? He had never seen her using it before. Switching it on, he found out that she was still working for her previous company. It meant that she hadn’t handed over her resignati

Chapter Eighty

Brooklyn’s kiss was like the magical elixir Nikolas needed to live. He was powerless to resist it and eagerly opened his mouth to allow her in. His fingers caught her head to dominate the hungry and passionate kiss while his other hand crushed her soft body into his chest. They were so lost in one another that they hardly noticed Hailey quietly leaving the office. After a minute, when Nikolas’s mouth released hers, Brooklyn’s face flushed with embarrassment realizing what she had done. She eagerly looked around but didn’t see the woman for whom she had taken so much pain. Nikolas looked at her with amusement in his eyes. “I had no idea that you missed me so much,” he said, his lips still tingling from the kiss. Brooklyn was acutely aware of his gaze upon her and she felt all the more shy, unable to look him in the

Chapter Eighty-One

Brooklyn gaped at him with horror. Did he just threaten to end his life if she left him? “You’re misunderstanding me as always. Why would I want to have an affair with someone else when I'm so madly in love with you?” Asked Nikolas as if it pained him to even talk about it. Brooklyn stared at him, not what to say.  “But..” she started looking more puzzled than ever before. “Shh, not a word more. I’ll explain myself to you for the last time. Listen once and for all and then decide what you want to do,” said Nikolas, his face solemn and his eyes wide and probing as they stared back at her with sincerity.  “Hailey isn’t my girlfriend as you have concluded, Brooklyn. She’s five years older than Bruce and two years older than me. We both have always looked up to her as our older sister. I’ve known Bruce’s fa

Chapter Eighty-Two

Brooklyn slowly shook her head as her cheeks stained with color. He grinned, determined to have his way later. He picked up the twins one by one, saying baby words to them as he handed them over to her. It was totally a new experience for him, something that he was enjoying doing. He gazed at the way his babies sucked at her ni*ples and a warm tenderness filled his heart. He realized what he had been missing for so long. Sitting beside her, he stroked their heads lovingly. “They were really hungry!” He gasped seeing them suck hungrily. “Yeah, Sally skipped a feed when I was away. I had expressed their milk but she didn’t give it to them,” said Brooklyn, angrily. “It’s good that she’s gone,” said Nikolas. His glance fell upon Brooklyn’s cre

Chapter Eighty-Three

Nikolas left to go to the bedroom and wait for her but with Kathy around, Brooklyn refrained from following him. Kathy would surely be all ears after the stunt Nikolas pulled at the dining table. Acutely aware of all the little hints that Nikolas had been throwing at her ever since the things cleared up between them, Brooklyn knew exactly what he had planned for her. “Do you need help with anything?” Asked Brooklyn. Kathy smiled at her.“The laundry is done. You could take them to your room, Brooklyn,” said Kathy. Her hands were already full and Brooklyn was glad to be able to help her. “I’ll get them. I’ll help you with dinner. Just call me, okay?” asked Brooklyn.“Are you sure that sir will allow you?&rd

Chapter Eighty-Four

The next morning Brooklyn woke up remembering that she needed to take the twins for their vaccination. Nikolas quickly took an appointment at the nearest health center. It was a busy morning as they rushed to get the twins ready to go. A nervous Nikolas helped calm down Nikson who went red, howling with pain after the shot. Brooklyn calmed Brycen down somehow. It was a harrowing first-time experience for them. By the time they returned home, both were haggard and exhausted. Nikolas went to work after lunch while Brooklyn tended to the twins. It was only when she tucked them to bed did she remember about her phone. Rushing towards the nightstand where she had placed it 24 hours back, she picked it up and switched it on. Brooklyn gasped seeing around forty missed calls from Ryder. Has he gone crazy? There were a few messages as well from him.I’m not accepting your resignati

Chapter Eighty-Five

“Ryder? What are you doing here at this hour?” She gasped with shock. Ryder looked angrier and stormed inside the house, brushing past her. Brooklyn whirled around to face him, feeling disturbed by his presence. “What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you so hell-bent on resigning from the job? Can’t you understand your own good? You don’t need to dance to Nikolas’s tunes, Brooklyn. You should complete your education on your own merits. I’m giving you such a good opportunity, why can’t you just take it?” asked a displeased Ryder, his eyes still flashing angrily at her. “Why are you taking this personally? Do you run after every employee of yours this way?” demanded Brooklyn, irritated by Ryder’s attitude.“No, you’re sp

Chapter Eighty-Six

Brooklyn tossed and turned in her sleep as Nikolas’s haggard face kept on appearing in her dreams. She had waited all evening till late at night but he hadn’t emerged from the study. He skipped his dinner as well, making Brooklyn so upset that she sobbed herself to sleep. Was it her fault that Ryder appeared at her doorstep? Was it her fault that Ryder had developed feelings for her? She had never encouraged Ryder in any way. Then how could Nikolas hold a grudge against her? How could he not see how much she loved him?It was late when Nikolas walked into his bedroom. All the arrangements had been made for the wedding tomorrow. He had submitted an online application for a marriage license. Tomorrow he would simply visit the county clerk’s office to procure the license and then get married. It was a foolproof plan and nothing could possibly go wrong. His security guards were informed not t

Chapter Eighty-Seven

“What? What marriage?” She gasped, looking horrified and totally lost. Did she hear him correctly? Did he mention their wedding? But how could that be possible? He hadn’t even proposed yet! “Our marriage! We’re getting married today,” said Nikolas, getting down from his car. “Today? But you haven’t even proposed yet! In fact, you said that you don’t want to get married, like never! Then what changed suddenly?” She demanded, feeling angry at him. “Nothing changed suddenly. I want to marry you, now! So are you coming or should I have to carry you into the County Clerk’s office?” Asked Nikolas impatiently, opening the door for her, eager to do as he had just threatened. &ld

Chapter Eighty-Eight

“Sleep tight tonight, daddy needs to play with your mommy,” whispered Nikolas, leaning closer to the twins as she fed them. Brooklyn rolled her eyes. So this was what he came inside the nursery for! “I thought we couldn’t get any action done till I’m completely healed. You said 4-6 weeks, right? So no wedding night for us, then,” she reminded him. “Still, we’ll make the most of it,” he said, staring deeply into her eyes with a promise of lots of car*al pleasure for later. The thought of it made her heart skip a beat. She couldn’t believe that by tonight she’d be a married woman, she’d be Nikolas’s wife. She hadn’t thought the day would come so soon. Nikolas stood in front of her as if he wanted to say a lot more. She looked so loving, fresh, angelic, and innocent tha
