Chapter 9

Roberta POV

After Marcus left the dungeon, I felt I had regained some of my strength, but the cloud lingered. Every time he shows up, he brings more threats and pain, and all I can do now is grit my teeth and hold on.

A few hours later, the dungeon door opens again and Marcus enters, this time with no food, but a pair of handcuffs in his hand. His expression was still cold and there was a sense of determination in his eyes.

"Stand up," he ordered, his voice cold.

I struggled to get up, still weak, but I knew I couldn't show any weakness in front of him. He came over and quickly placed the handcuffs around my wrists, the cold metal touch sending a chill through my heart.

"Where are you taking me?" I demanded, trying to hide my fear.

"This is to prevent you from escaping," he replied coldly, with no regard for my feelings, "and if you make any attempt to escape, not only you, but your whole pack will be punished."
