Chapter 15

Roberta POV

In my sleep, memories of the past kept flashing through my mind.Life at home as a child, training with friends, laughing together. Alston was like a brother to me, always looking out for me. He was so dependable and trusted. Now, however, it all seems so strange and distant.

Once, I woke from a deep sleep and heard footsteps not far away. The footsteps were heavy and slow, as if with some kind of pressure. I held my breath and tried to raise my head to see who was coming. A tall figure appeared in front of the iron railings. It was Marcus. His face was hidden in shadow, and his expression was not clear.

"Roberta, you're awake." His voice was deep and cold, very different from the warm leader of the past.

"Marcus, why are you doing this to me?" My voice was weak but confused.

He was silent for a moment, then gave a sneer. "It's done. I've been caught up in it, and so have you."

I struggled, trying to get up, but the chains held me back.
