Marcus POV

"Marcus, what are you thinking about?" Roberta's voice rang out beside my ear, carrying a hint of worry.

I looked up at her, those eyes that once made me hate but now were filled with complicated emotions. "Nothing. Just thinking about what to do next."

The campfire danced in the night wind, reflecting the anxiety and unease on each of our faces. This was the first time we had met in so many days.
