Chapter 2

Roberta POV

The next morning, the weather was overcast and I woke up feeling a strange sense of unease. Every cell in my body seemed to be being ripped apart by an invisible force, making it difficult for me to concentrate. I struggled to get out of bed and decided to go to the hospital for a check-up.

In the hospital, doctors were bustling about the corridors, and the groans of the patients and the anxious voices of their families intertwined to form a depressing scene. I sat in the waiting room, looking out at the gray sky outside, filled with unease.

Finally, it was my turn. I walked into the doctor's office. The doctor was a middle-aged woman who wore thick glasses and looked serious and professional. She asked me, "Roberta, have you been feeling unwell lately?" I nodded and told her my symptoms.

She began to examine me carefully and asked about my lifestyle and diet. Then, she told me a shocking news: "Roberta, your body is not in good shape. It seems that your wolf's power cannot be summoned normally, and your body has become weak due to long-term bloodletting."

"I also found that your link with the Moon Goddess has weakened. You are the Luna of the Crescent Moon Pack, right? That's not good news for you."

I was stunned, and this news was like a heavy bomb dropped on my head. I couldn't believe my ears. The strength of my wolf, something I had always been proud of, was weakening. And I had just been blindly following Marcus's orders to give Zora blood, leading to this outcome.

"Doctor, what should I do?" I asked, my voice trembling.

She looked at me, a hint of sympathy in her eyes: "Roberta, you need to rest and take care of yourself. You also need treatment to regain your wolf's strength. But it will take time and patience."

I nodded silently, feeling lost and helpless. I left the doctor's office and walked into the hospital's garden. I sat on a bench, looking at the green trees and flowers around me, trying to calm my emotions.

However, my mind was filled with confusion and pain. I thought of my pack, who had once held great hopes for me. I thought of their expectations and reliance on me. What could I do for them if I lost my wolf's strength?

A strong wave of sadness suddenly surged through me. I covered my face with my hands, and tears dripped through my fingers. I didn't know how to face everything.

Just then, my phone rang, breaking the silence around me. I pulled out my phone, and it was Marcus. "Where are you? Come back quickly, Zora needs you."

I sighed and turned off the screen. His tone was so matter-of-fact that it seemed as if everything was what I should do. But my heart was filled with conflicting emotions and struggles. I wanted to tell him what had happened, tell him that I was about to lose my wolf powers, tell him how difficult my situation was. But I didn't think he could understand me.

"You should leave him, or at least, reject him." Bella suddenly appeared, her voice already very weak, and my body was also very weak.

"Bella, I can't ••••••" I was a little weak to respond, I wasn't the only one who was myself, I had my own pack behind me.

"Do you still believe him?" Bella asked me rhetorically.

"I•••••" I wanted to believe it, but I couldn't say it at the moment. In retrospect, my presence didn't mean anything to Marcus, and he didn't even make me really fulfill Luna's obligations.

And such an act of blindly consuming my body, he didn't let me go for a moment.

In the end, I chose my phone silently. I didn't tell him the truth, just replied to his message briefly. Then I turned off my phone and sat alone in the hospital's garden, immersed in my thoughts, not realizing how long I had been there.

I thought about my dream the night before, trying to figure out who that child was and who I was in the dream. Vaguely, I could see Marcus walking towards me with a gentle smile on his face. But as 'he' drew nearer, I saw an old woman with a kind face coming towards me, her back slightly bent, but her whole body radiating tenderness.

"Son, I see you've been sitting here for a long time. Do you need any help?" She sat next to me and looked at me.

"I'm... nothing, just a little tired." I replied, forcing a smile.

"You're a pack of Luna, aren't you? But why is the moon energy so weak in you? Is there something going on in your life?" The old woman's tone was still gentle, but her expression was clear and firm.

"What?" I looked at her with some surprise, amazed at her subtlety. She shook her head and waved her hand, took out a black business card from her knitted handbag and handed it to me, and I was somewhat inexplicable.

"When you need help, this piece of paper will give you a direction, and in that direction you will find me." I'll help you." The old woman laughed.

I looked down and rubbed the black piece of paper with my hand, and the frosted touch actually made me feel a little calm. I looked up to ask the old woman something more, but there was no one around me, as if she had never been there. Vaguely, I put the card back in my bag.

As night fell, I returned home. The house was quiet, and I thought there was only me inside. But as soon as I stepped into the door, Marcus and Zora made a face as if they had been waiting for a long time.

"Damn it, where the hell did you go?" Marcus's tone was filled with anxiety, and I could feel that the anxiety was not because of me.

"It's okay, Marcus," Zora looked at me, her voice was weak, but her face looked both rosy and healthy, my complexion was even worse than half of hers.

I looked at the table, where a row of blood-drawing tools had been neatly arranged.
