Marcus POV

When I decided to confess to Roberta, I underestimated the power and importance of the mate bond. This action made the connection between us even slimmer. I felt an unprecedented weakness and pain, as if a part of my soul was torn apart.

One not long night, I was walking alone in the forest, my heart filled with contradictions and pain. Suddenly, a strong dizziness hit me. I felt my strength rapidly draining away, and my consciousness gradually blurred. Finally, I fainted to the ground.

When I woke up, I found myself in a strange place, surrounded by several strange faces. Among them, one figure was particularly familiar. It was Zora. There was a moment of relaxation in my heart. I had an inertial belief in her. I thought that girl must love me the most.

"Marcus, you're finally awake." Zora's voice carried a hint of concern, but I could sense a hint of strangeness in her eyes.
