Marcus POV

The nightfall descended, and the moonlight spilled like water over the vast forest. I stood by the window of my office, gazing at the bottomless darkness, but my thoughts drifted back to a conversation a few days ago.

Zora suddenly mentioned that she was my savior, which left me speechless for a moment. There was a hint of undetectable threat in her tone, attempting to use this to force me to make the decision she demanded.

"Marcus, I saved your life. You won't forget that, will you?" Her voice was soft yet dangerous, like honey wrapped with venom.

I took a deep breath and tried to calm the turmoil inside me. "Of course not, Zora. I'll always be grateful to you, but that doesn't mean I'll agree to all your requests."

Her eyes turned cold instantly, revealing a hint of displeasure. "You owe me, Marcus. I only ask you to separate from Roberta. Is that so difficult for you?"
