Marcus POV
I let go of my hands in surprise. When I looked at Roberta again, I found that she was still in a deep sleep, and that all that had just happened was an illusion. It was as if this vision became a reflection of my heart, as if Roberta felt deeply my intentions for her.
I sighed and sat cross-legged on the edge of the bed. Looking at her who is still asleep, her inner emotions are unspeakably complicated. But just as Dixon had predicted, I always felt a strange calm when I was around her. As the link between us strengthened, I felt my werewolf powers returning.
Perhaps it is a long time from our mate side to get comfort, just like now lying beside her, it has made my body and mind feel very comfortable. I looked at Roberta's sleeping face, and unconsciously I was gradually swallowed up by the trapped feeling.
When I opened my eyes again, I saw that my eyes were in ruins, just as I remembered them from my childhood. I looked down at myself again, my hands covered with blood and dust, my little body wrapped in torn clothes. It dawned on me. I'm supposed to be in a dream again. Only this time the dream was more clear than usual, as if I stood up and watched the whole story happened again in front of me .
Then behind me came the roar of the wolves again, they incarnate in the shape of wolves, straight towards me. My instinct for survival forced me to start running again.
Just like before, just like I saw in all my dreams.
In the same way, I found once again the familiar ruins in which I had used my childhood to hide. I bent down, curled my legs, and held my breath tightly. The old men searched the place but could not find me, so they left.
I breathed a sigh of relief and continued to wait where I was. Those familiar little hands came to my rescue. But I waited there for a long time, and the girl did not come as expected. On the contrary, this dream influenced my ending in a completely different direction.
I hid in place for a long time, still no one to help me, so I went out. What I saw at the moment was completely different, my pack was in chaos, people were running everywhere, and no one was even resisting. What was once my home has become a complete mess. Soon, as if I had been caught in a trap, I took a few steps out and was caught by the rogue gang. They forced me to a simple stronghold, where I met my parents.
I had never been this far in my life before, so I was stunned by what I saw. They were so tightly bound by rogue that they seemed to have fallen into a coma.
But what follows is also what I don't want to see. Some rogue picked them up and wiped their necks right in front of me. They didn't move. They didn't struggle. There was no answer to my cries, only the cries of my young voice and the derision of the rogues.
No matter how much I cried, it didn't help.
"What's the hurry? It'll be you soon." A tall and strong rogue, I suppose him to be the leader, wipes the blood from his knife and walks towards me impatiently.
My blood froze and I began to struggle to wake up from this terrible nightmare. My eyes were dark. Luckily, when I opened my eyes again, I was still in my bedroom, with Roberta asleep in bed.
I broke out in a cold sweat. I never thought this dream would take off like this. And the girl who was supposed to save me didn't show up. Before I knew it, a sharp pain came through my body, and Dixon felt the pain at the same time.
"Marcus, what happened?" Dixon gritted his teeth. "Your dreams changed."
"I can't explain it," I tried to calm my breathing rhythm, and what had just happened in the dream was so real that I almost thought it was real.
"Maybe Roberta has changed." Dixon sounded a little uncertain.
Roberta? What will happen to her? Her strength was too weak to restore herself, what else could she do?
"Either way, it's not a good sign." I looked again at the girl lying on the bed, still asleep.
This dream is like a foreknowledge of the life path I never had, if there was no girl, maybe I would no longer exist in this world.
At this point, I heard Roberta muttering my name, and I couldn't help but bend over to her ear with curiosity. Roberta was whispering my name, but she was saying something else, and I moved closer.
"Marcus, have you thought about that? What are the consequences for you?"
When I heard what she said, I was shocked and couldn't help taking two steps back. Roberta fell back into a deep sleep after saying this, but I was still in it.
Next to the panic came a sudden surge of disgust from nowhere. Where did Roberta get this information? Did she dismiss it all as ignorance? Doesn't that make me a mean clown? I hurriedly grabbed my phone and called Zora.
'What is it?
"Are you home now?"
"Yes, what happened?"
"I'll be right over."
My hands were even shaking slightly when I hung up the phone, and the sudden change threw me off my pace for an instant. Damn it, I'm a little desperate already. Picking up the clothes, I rushed out of the door without looking back.
Roberta POV After fainting due to weakness, I seemed to fall into a deep dream. As the only daughter of the Alpha of the Twilight Pack. My destiny was destined from childhood to live for the interests of the tribe. Every day of life is full of responsibilities and sacrifices, and I have long been accustomed to it. Before I married Marcus, I never thought that love would become a part of my life. I felt a warm embrace. In my blurred vision, Marcus seemed to be taking care of me carefully. He gently stroked my cheek and murmured something. I tried to struggle to open my eyes to see if this man who was once indifferent and ruthless to me had really changed. Memories came flooding back. The first time we met was on a summer afternoon. At that time, Marcus was a funny and gentle young werewolf, and his smile was as warm as the sun. That day, I got lost in the forest. Just when I was panicked, he appeared in front of me, took my hand, and led me back to the tribe. "What's your na
Roberta POVAs I gradually came to my senses, Marcus's attitude quickly turned cold, and his gaze was as sharp as an icy blade, piercing my heart. I tried to sit up, but my weakness made it difficult for me to move. The light in the room was still dim, and I knew for sure that Marcus was no longer the person I had imagined him to be.Over time, Marcus's attitude towards me only got worse. He began to make me do menial tasks that only Omegas were supposed to do, such as sweeping the floor, cleaning the stables, and even preparing food for the wolf pack. I knew that these tasks were a huge burden on my body, but I had no choice but to bear them in silence. The heavy work made me exhausted, but I gritted my teeth and refused to show weakness in front of him. Whenever I was alone, I would recall our past happy moments and the warm moments we shared, which sustained me through each difficult day.One day, as I was kneeling on the ground wiping the floor, Marcus suddenly appeared in front o
Roberta POVI gasped in pain. "You're crazy.""I'm already crazy." There was a subtle smile on Marcus's lips.My soft body was pressed into his arms, my earlobes were licked and played by his mouth, his breath stained my ears vaguely, stimulating my tired skin that craved comfort. Marcus put his hand under me, and I heard my own breathing increase, and Marcus's breathing in my ear gradually becoming heavy. My breathing trembled as Marcus brushed his fingernails against my skin and smiled happily. Marcus grabbed my hand to unbuckle his belt, and I couldn't help but lift myself up and rub my shirt against his chest. Marcus swiped his hand away from my waist behind his back, biting my ear in a charming whisper, laughing at me for being so obedient. The smell of his breath and the damp sensation on my cheeks from his mouth made me swallow. Marcus rolled up on my palm and made my fingers curl in a circle around my waist, wetting my clothes and body. The smell of the bodily fluids that enve
Roberta POVAfter Marcus left the dungeon, I felt I had regained some of my strength, but the cloud lingered. Every time he shows up, he brings more threats and pain, and all I can do now is grit my teeth and hold on.A few hours later, the dungeon door opens again and Marcus enters, this time with no food, but a pair of handcuffs in his hand. His expression was still cold and there was a sense of determination in his eyes."Stand up," he ordered, his voice cold.I struggled to get up, still weak, but I knew I couldn't show any weakness in front of him. He came over and quickly placed the handcuffs around my wrists, the cold metal touch sending a chill through my heart."Where are you taking me?" I demanded, trying to hide my fear."This is to prevent you from escaping," he replied coldly, with no regard for my feelings, "and if you make any attempt to escape, not only you, but your whole pack will be punished."I gritted my teeth and stared at him angrily. "Do you think that's going
Roberta POVOn the first day of my freedom, I decided to go out. The sunlight outside was blinding, and I had a hard time opening my eyes. The long absence of freedom made me feel strange, but I knew that every minute was precious. Despite my still weak body, I decided to try to raise funds for my wolf pack as soon as possible. The handcuffs had been removed, but the sense of restraint in my heart was still heavy.I went straight to my room, which was a private room just for me. Marcus had never cared about my life at home. I opened my computer and tried to check my account balance through online banking. When I entered my password, a cold and impersonal message appeared on the screen: "Account has been frozen." The sense of unease in my heart instantly grew, and I immediately realized that this must have been Marcus's doing. He not only imprisoned me, but also cut off all my economic ties to the outside world.Anger boiled within me, and I picked up my phone and dialed Marcus's numbe
Roberta POVAlston took me back to the Twilight Pack from the hospital, silent and seemingly thinking. I sat quietly beside him, full of contradiction and confusion. When I entered the Twilight Pack, I felt a familiar and strange atmosphere, a place where I used to live, but now with different emotions.Alston led me to my own room, which was almost identical to the one I had lived in, and seemed to be cleaned every day. It was simple and comfortable. He motioned for me to sit down, walked to the window, looked out into the distance for a long time, and then said, "Roberta, your condition is worse than I thought."I listened in silence, expecting it, but it made me feel heavy to hear him say it himself."Marcus's control is not limited to physical bondage, but deeper psychological repression and oppression."Alston turned, his eyes penetrating. "You're in a very dangerous state if you continue like this."I frowned, ambivalent: "I understand, but I can't just give up." And Marcus won't
Roberta POVIt had been some time since I returned home, and my father began to delegate some of the responsibilities of managing the pack to me again. What upset me the most was that Marcus didn't react to my behavior, he didn't even send someone out to look for me. It was like a knife hanging over my head, ready to fall and cut my neck. The early morning sun shone through the mist on the trees, ushering in a new day. I went out for a break, standing on the high ground on the edge of town, looking out over the forest and mountains in the distance, my mind wandering in Alston's confession. The conversation that morning was like a sudden storm that disturbed my inner peace."Roberta," Alston's voice rang behind me, and I turned, his blue eyes with an indescribable firmness, "there's something I've been wanting to say to you."My heart was tight, vaguely guessing what he was going to say, but I chose to face it. "What is it, Alston?"He took a deep breath as if preparing for the words h
Roberta POVEver since that day when I passed out after seeing Marcus, I haven't been out much. There were a lot more attacks in the Pack, and the number of injured werewolves gradually increased, and Alston could no longer accompany me all day as before, and he had to go to the hospital every day.I always felt that this had something to do with Marcus, and my heart was full of anxiety and doubt. Over the past few days, my father, Aaron, had been in a state that was vaguely troubling to me. He seemed weaker than ever, his face pale, his eyes tired."Roberta," my father's voice said from behind me, and I turned to see him walking slowly toward me. His step was still firm, but I could see that he was trying to hide his discomfort."Father," I said, approaching him and looking anxiously at him, "you don't look well. Do you need a rest?"My father shook his head and forced a smile. "I'm fine, Roberta. It's just pack business."I knew he didn't want me to worry, but I couldn't contain my
Roberta POVThe night had shrouded the entire tribe, with only a faint moonlight filtering through the thick canopy and sprinkling on the ground. I stepped forward gently, feeling the tranquility and serenity around me. Since the entire pack began to prepare for battle, this was my daily patrol route, and every step seemed to blend with this land. However, there was an unusual smell in the air tonight, which made me heighten my vigilance.During the patrol, I accidentally caught a familiar scent - it was Zora's. She had been missing for several days, and people in the tribe were all worried about her safety. I followed the direction of the scent, moving forward quickly and silently, with a vague sense of foreboding in my heart.Through the thick forest, I came to a hidden clearing. The moonlight shone in the center of the clearing, and I saw a terrifying scene: Zora and her brother were commanding a team. These people looked well-equipped and were clearly not ordinary hunters or guard
Marcus POV"Marcus, what are you thinking about?" Roberta's voice rang out beside my ear, carrying a hint of worry.I looked up at her, those eyes that once made me hate but now were filled with complicated emotions. "Nothing. Just thinking about what to do next."The campfire danced in the night wind, reflecting the anxiety and unease on each of our faces. This was the first time we had met in so many days. I hadn't been able to establish a link with Dixon for a long time, and my power was gradually weakening. I sat beside the campfire, the wine in my cup already gone, but I wasn't the slightest bit drunk. The flame of revenge had burned in my heart for years, but now it was gradually extinguishing because of her insistence. She nodded slightly and sat beside me. "I'm also thinking about exactly what we have to face."I took a deep breath, trying to suppress the wavering in my heart. For years, I had firmly believed that revenge was my only goal. However, now I have begun to doubt wh
Roberta POVAfter the meeting with Zora that time, I truly realized her ambition.I originally thought that she just wanted to use the identity of Marcus' savior to facilitate her becoming the Luna of this tribe. This could also explain why she has always been hostile to me. But now it seems that she wants more than just that, or rather, the person behind her wants more than that. The flaws in the story she told have completely exposed her. But when she casually mentioned the upcoming ceremony, I vaguely sensed something amiss. The ceremony they want to hold is not an ordinary werewolf sacrifice at all, but a terrifying ritual that sacrifices an entire werewolf tribe. This is a long-lost ritual, and once discovered, it will be regarded as an act of betrayal against the entire werewolf society. After returning, I hesitated again and again, but still chose to tell Booth what I heard.Booth listened to me, and his expression grew increasingly grave. "What is their goal?""To control our
Roberta POVEvelyn talked non-stop about Marcus. Booth and I followed her into a café, and unconsciously, the morning passed. For me, except for clearly knowing that she was hostile to me, it can be said that there was no gain.Rather than saying that Evelyn was the one who saved Marcus at that time, it's better to say that she was just a fanatical admirer of Marcus. I thought this in my heart and took another sip of coffee somewhat speechlessly.Seemingly noticing my movement, Evelyn said, as if intentionally or unintentionally, "Booth, you know, right? Originally, it was me who was going to be paired with Marcus as a mate."Upon hearing this, Booth's movement in his hand paused, and then he smiled and said, "That was a long time ago. Besides, weren't you just joking?""I wasn't!" Evelyn seemed to be poked at a sore spot, and her voice raised a level sharply, "I was always serious!"I was startled by her tone and looked at her in surprise. Just then, a woman dressed very ordinarily w
Roberta POV"Marcus would have died if it weren't for me." Zora's arrogant voice echoed in my ears, filled with thick provocation. Every word of hers was like a sharp blade, stabbing into my heart.I could no longer ignore Zora's existence. Every time she mentioned her "life-saving grace", Marcus chose to remain silent. I thought Marcus loved her because of this, but now it seemed that this love had turned into a shackle binding him. This raised a hint of suspicion in my heart.Early the next morning, I found Booth. Booth seemed to always be on my side, but he always hesitated whenever it came to matters involving Marcus."Booth, I need your help," I said straightforwardly.Booth nodded. "What's the matter?""Zora, her behavior is not right. I need to investigate her background and her true motives," I said without hesitation.Booth raised an eyebrow, a glint of interest flashing in his eyes. "Oh? What did you discover?""She said she saved Marcus when they were kids, but the details
Marcus POVThe nightfall descended, and the moonlight spilled like water over the vast forest. I stood by the window of my office, gazing at the bottomless darkness, but my thoughts drifted back to a conversation a few days ago.Zora suddenly mentioned that she was my savior, which left me speechless for a moment. There was a hint of undetectable threat in her tone, attempting to use this to force me to make the decision she demanded."Marcus, I saved your life. You won't forget that, will you?" Her voice was soft yet dangerous, like honey wrapped with venom.I took a deep breath and tried to calm the turmoil inside me. "Of course not, Zora. I'll always be grateful to you, but that doesn't mean I'll agree to all your requests."Her eyes turned cold instantly, revealing a hint of displeasure. "You owe me, Marcus. I only ask you to separate from Roberta. Is that so difficult for you?"I shook my head firmly, "This isn't a simple request, Zora. Roberta is my partner, and she's very impor
Roberta POVAfter Zora was sternly stopped by Marcus and was told that I wouldn't have to donate blood to her anymore, the relationship between her and Marcus seemed to have changed. My heart was still troubled by the documents I found at Zora's residence that day. There seemed to be some unspeakable secrets about this woman. This night, due to insomnia, I was strolling in the courtyard. The night wind blew gently, carrying a hint of coolness. Suddenly, a murmur came from the depths of the woods, breaking the tranquility of the night. Out of curiosity, I quietly followed. By the faint moonlight, I saw a scene that I would never forget.Zora stood in the middle of the clearing, holding a sharp dagger in her hand. There was a kind of madness in her eyes, and on her wrist, she was carving something with that dagger. I held my breath and hid behind a tree. The scene in front of me shocked me greatly - what she was carving on her wrist was a moon-shaped birthmark. At this moment, I felt a
Marcus POVAs the night wore on, a hush fell over the camp. Moonlight through the cracks in the leaves cast a dappled shadow, reflected in every corner of the camp. I haven't had peace of mind since that terrible tribal battle. Roberta's recent weakness and exhaustion worried me.I decided to go back to the pack house and check on Roberta. Although I have deliberately distanced myself from our relationship, I still worry about her situation here. The other reason is that I need to be close to her, too. My strength has been declining rapidly, and I need to find Roberta to regain my strength.I walked home at a brisk pace, only an uneasy premonition rising in my heart. The guard at the gate respectfully stepped aside when he saw me. I flung open the door, my heart clenched at what I saw.Roberta was pinned to a chair by two strong men. Zora was holding a sharp knife. Blood gushed from Roberta's wrist and dripped to the floor. Her face was pale, and she was obviously very weak."Stop!" I
Roberta POVBack in our pack house, I was about to lie down and rest, trying to relax myself. Suddenly, the door of the pack house was kicked open forcefully, and Zora appeared at the door. She was smiling as always, but there was a glint in her eyes that made me uneasy."Roberta, I want to talk to you." She walked in, her voice sweet but with a hint of coercion."Zora, this is not a good time for a talk. I'm not feeling well and need to rest." I tried to remain calm, although my heart was already in turmoil."Oh, I've heard about your health condition." She slowly approached me, and the smile on her face gradually disappeared. "However, I'm here today for something important. You haven't given me blood for a long time, do you remember?"I frowned. "Zora, I've already said that I won't donate blood to you anymore. Especially in my current condition."Zora's face instantly turned gloomy. "Roberta, this is not a big deal for you. But for me, it's crucial."I felt a chill rising up my sp
