Seraphine’s Point of View

“W-what?” I asked in a breathless tone.

“I think I know you,” Cassius repeated. “I think I saw you already...”

“You might have mistaken her over someone else. You just met her today, or you might have caught a glimpse of her last night when we arrived,” Maximus interjected, pulling me towards him. But Cassius still hasn’t let go of my wrist. So I was stuck in an awkward position between them.

“No. I’m pretty sure I didn’t notice her last night,” Cassius said, shaking his head. Well, damn. “But she really, really looked familiar. Are you sure we haven’t met?”

I swallowed the lump on my throat, refraining myself from yelling: 'Yes, we met already! In fact, we’re mates and married’, but that just sounds delusional, and I don’t want that to be their impression on me.

“No, we haven’t,” I firmly answered, lying through my teeth.
