Chapter 20

Cassius’ Point of View

I woke up with a loud gasp, breathing heavily as I abruptly sat up on my bed.

I reached for my throat with trembling hands, sighing in relief when I found no slit there. A shudder ran through me as the phantom pain of that deep cut lingered.

I did not dream of the same girl I’ve been dreaming of for the past weeks, but I heard him scream my name when I fell limply on the ground. The heart-shattering scream made my heart hurt, as if I was hurting more for the girl than the slit on my throat.

It was another bizarre dream I have, but one that made me shudder the most. I don’t know what to make of it, because I believe it’s not just a simple dream anymore.

Is it some sort of prophetic dream? Does it show what will happen to my future? As far as I remember, I was taller and more muscular. I could practically feel my own strength. My voice was deep and silky—different from how it is now.
