Twenty-Nine

The journey had taken its toll on them all. The air was overwhelming with the fragrance of fight, and the ground underneath their feet still bore the scars of the showdown within the Valley of Echoes. Clara's heart beat as they strolled away from the location of their triumph. In spite of their triumph, a sense of unease settled over them all. The Heart's light was still with them, but its once-reassuring gleam presently appeared tinged with all seriousness.

“We’ve won, but I don’t feel like we’re done,” Ethan said, his voice low as he scanned the horizon.

Luna nodded, her eyes distant. “The Heart has shown us what we’re capable of, but there’s something it’s not telling us. I can feel it.”

Clara was silent, her mind racing. She could feel the Heart pulsing within her, its energy a steady rhythm that matched her heartbeat. It was as if the Heart was waiting, biding its time before revealing its true purpose.
