Chapter 2

Trinity's POV

I didn't care about power or money. But I cared about Maci.

Maci was the maid of my mother. After my mother died, it was she who raised me up.

When I was young, one day, in order to protect me from being attacked by a rouge, she was severely hurt.

Although she healed later, that left her sequelae. As she grew older, her condition became worse.

The pack doctor said Maci needed to take medicine every day, but the pack would not pay the expenses for an omega.

The medicine was expensive, far beyond what Maci's meager savings could afford.

I had just graduated from university. Where could I get such a large amount of money?

Marisa's words gave me hope. If I had the money, Maci could live.

I once thought that Trystan and Maci were the two most important people in my life. They were the support of my life after my mother died. But Trystan had left me, I couldn't lose Maci.

I would do anything to save Maci, even if I had to marry a man I hadn't met before and knew nothing about.

Finally, I accepted Marisa's deal.

Marisa also said something later that night, but I couldn't remember anything.

Actually, I couldn't remember how I passed these past few days. It was more like a dream because everything seemed to be unreal to me.

I didn't know which one was more unacceptable, my ex-boyfriend hooking up with my sister or me going to marry a man I knew nothing about.

I wanted to tell Maci, but when I saw her lying in bed weakly, I decided not to. She had more difficult things to deal with, to fight against her illness.

The night before my wedding day, I prayed to the Moon Goddess to give me strength and courage. If this had been my fate, I would have accepted it, but I would never give up.

My wedding was about to begin soon.

It couldn't be said for a wedding. Generally, werewolves held the wedding at midnight when there was a full moon. The elders would host the ceremony, and the couples would swear under the full moon to be blessed by the Moon Goddess.

After the ceremony, the new couple would go back to their home to finish the last step - mark each other.

It was the most important part of marriage. If a couple marked each other, it meant they were bound and would never separate. Otherwise, both of them would die.

But this time, it was a little different.

Because I hadn't had my wolf yet, I couldn't be marked.

To me, it was a good thing. I didn't want to be bound with someone I knew nothing about.

The Vaughan family didn't have an opinion about it. I guessed they didn't care about this marriage either.

But Marisa insisted on having a wedding ceremony. She thought it was a good opportunity to show everyone that they had a connection with the Vaughan family now.

She made some adjustments and changed the ceremony to be held at dusk so that guests could have a party after it.

I looked at myself in the mirror.

The dress Marisa chose for me was pure white without any decorations but some flower patterns in the same color.

Usually, as an Alpha's daughter, I would wear a dress embroidered with the pack's emblem. But Marisa said it was too hurry to tailor one for me.

I smiled and sighed. Compared with Briana, who had an S-shaped body and tanned skin, I looked thin and weak. Who would care what I wore?

All my money had been spent on Maci's medication. I couldn't afford any accessories. I thought for a while and then found a white ribbon in the cabinet and weaved it with my hair into a braid.

After I had done it, I looked at myself in the mirror and said to myself, "Today is your wedding day."

I didn't know what I was expecting, or maybe I was expecting nothing.

I had learned that the man I was going to marry was the illegitimate child of the Alpha of the Vaughan pack. He didn't have a decent job and just idled on the street every day. Basically, he was good at nothing and was disdained by his pack.

Just thinking of marrying such a man made me nervous. I was afraid that the man might be rude or slovenly. But what I was more afraid of was that if he did something illegal for a living or if he would beat me after I married him.

"Trinity, the ceremony is about to start. Hurry up." Marisa's voice sounded outside the door.

I shook my head slightly to drive the thoughts away and then walked out.

Marisa was a little dissatisfied seeing me. She had a violet V-neck silk dress on her and looked elegant and charming. She always knew how to dress up to display her charms the best.

The other reason she had spent so much effort on dressing up was because the Vaughan pack might come today. The groom might be useless, but the Vaughan pack was not.

There were already many people in the garden. Most of them were from my pack, some were from other packs. But I didn't see anyone from the Vaughan pack.

Marisa complained with dissatisfaction, "Why hasn't the groom arrived yet?"

I approached Marisa and asked, "Marisa, can you give me the money first? Maci's medicine is running out."

Marisa gave me a cold glance. "Oh, come on. Do you really have to talk about money now? What if the others heard you? What will they think?"

Then, she might be afraid that I would refuse to finish the wedding, so she turned to hold my hands. Her voice became softer. "Don't worry. We are family. I will fulfill what I had promised you after the wedding."

After she finished, she immediately turned around and asked a maid to go to see if the Vaughan pack had come.

"Why haven't the Vaughan pack come yet? How can they let the bride wait alone? I can't imagine what life will be after marrying into such a pack," Briana said, looking at me with sympathy.

I didn't have the mood to say anything and keep quiet.

She wore a silver one-piece that was tightly wrapped around her body, perfectly showing her curves. She had a necklace with a large pendant around her neck. But I thought it just made her neck look short and fat.

Marisa heard Briana's words and cast a severe glance at her. "Briana, don't say that. They must be delayed by something important."

Briana pursed her lips. She had been spoiled by Marisa. Although Marisa was severe to her sometimes, she just said it. She had never really been mad at Briana.

Out of my expectations, Trystan also came. I still didn't know how to face him.

Seeing the man that I had loved for four years standing beside another woman at my wedding, I felt so ridiculous. Hadn't he hurt me enough?

I regretted that I hadn't slapped him that night, although I knew it didn't help with anything.

Trystan stood next to Briana, but his eyes fixed on me. He seemed to want to say something to me. But before he could say anything, Briana grabbed his arms and leaned her body against him. "I bought a new dress for today. Why don't you look at me?" Briana's voice was sweet and gentle. She coquetted in front of Trystan and attracted his attention.

I didn't want to see them and turned my head away.

But I couldn't prevent Briana's voice from getting in my ears.

When I was thinking how long this situation would last, suddenly, some noise attracted my attention.
