Chapter 82

Melissa

I woke up the next morning, unable to stop my fingers from touching my lips. The kiss with Alan had been imprinted in my mind throughout the night and even in my dreams that it felt wrong to get up and go to school. Why was this kiss different? I wondered, as I relaxed my back on the hard wooden bedding behind me. I had kissed Alan before, hell, both of us had made love in this same room before, but why was a kiss as simple as the one we had last night different? Was it because of the conversation that happened before it? Or because he had kissed me so delicately that I melted like butter?

Or was it because he had told me he loved me before the kiss happened?

With a low yawn and an unplanned moan, I stood up from the bed, about to go into the bathroom to get the day started when the door to my room opened and Jackie stuck her head in.

“Wow, Jackie, it is unlike you not to knock.” I said to her, but she was too busy trying to steady her breath to answer me. I watched her keenly
