Ophelia;
My happiest day came too soon. The day I thought, was the beginning of a blissful love life with my mate, Alpha Enzo. But rather, It was the day everything came tumbling over for me.We had thought all hope was lost on ever having a child, but the moon goddess had other plans for us. I was beyond ecstatic, as I made my way to my husband's office.
A strong hand held my waist immediately, and I flinched, turning in surprise to see Ethan, my husband's half brother, smiling at me.
I pulled his hand off me, but he only held on tighter, "Ethan, stop this. What are you doing?" I snapped at him.
"You can't deny that you don't feel this too, Ophelia. I..."
I snatched his hands away, "What is wrong with you? I am your brother's mate! Are you insane?"
I couldn't understand why he was suddenly acting this way.
"Half, brothers." He corrected, and I rolled my eyes, walking past him. In my hand, held the doctor's report. The news we both, have been waiting for years now.
No doubt this would make him so happy. As Alpha of the Lone Wolves Pack, it has been quite troubling and demanding, for him to get a heir. And the moon goddess finally answered our prayers.
I felt strong arms hold me back, as Ethan pulled me toward him.
"I bet my brother would be delighted to hear the news," he whispered lowly, in my ears
I pushed him away roughly, and he smirked at me, and then left, leaving me with a dumbfounded expression on my face.
Especially as my widened eyes caught the sight of my mate, who was standing just out the door to his office.
*******
My hands held my tummy instinctively as I stood, before my mate and husband, Enzo, with tears streaking down my cheeks."I hope this is a joke, Enzo. I refuse to believe you would think so less of me," I said, my voice almost in a whisper.
My other hand instinctively reached out to him, but he flinched back abruptly, his eyes, once filled with love and affection for me, now glared at me with so much hate etched on them.
He shook his head, "I could hardly believe it too, Ophelia. But the evidence is clear. You slept with my brother, and now you carry his bastard child in you!"
A sharp cry tore at my lips, and I shook my head, willing, hoping, that he was just bluffing, that he was only puking my legs and he didn't believe the words he was saying. But I couldn't be more wrong.
The evidence was right in front of me. And there was nothing I could do to clear the absurd claims.
"Get on with this, Enzo!" A shrill voice sounded, and I turned my gaze to my mother-in-law, Enzo's mother, who suddenly came into the living room.
She glared at me with so much hate in her eyes and sneered, "You are not worthy to be the Luna of this Pack, you slut!" Her hands swung forward, the force of her palm hitting my cheeks so hard it got me reeling in shock.
"Mother?" My teary eyes gazed at her as I held my cheeks with one hand. How did it get to this? How did she transform from my best friend in the mansion to... to this!?
My knees gave out and I immediately held onto her lap, "Mother, please do not believe this. Please, trust me. You know I wouldn't do anything of the sort. You know..."
She pushed her legs so hard, kicking me with a force I almost fell on my back.
Pointing a finger at me, she warned, "Don't you dare call me that, ever again! If you need a mother so badly, then go find yours at her grave!"
No, she didn't just...
My mother was a sensitive topic to me. The fact that I never got to know her, that she'd died just after she bore me, was shattering enough to this day and I couldn't believe she would taunt me with that!
She didn't seem to care in the slightest, as she turned to her son, Enzo, who was pacing in the room, his hands fisted in his hair. His eyes met mine and I bit my lips to keep them from trembling so much, shaking my head at him. I wanted him to see me. To see the woman he had loved. The woman who had loved him for three whole years. The woman who would do anything to protect him, as well as the Pack.
"What are you waiting for, Enzo? You need to break whatever bond ties you two, together. Reject her this instant, and send her packing!!" She said with a voice of finality and then walked out of the room.
My eyes widened at her words, "No!" I whispered frantically, my gaze darting from her to my mate.
I dreaded to think about what that entails. I dreaded to think that my once loving and cheerful mate might end up rejecting me on this day.
I can't let this happen!
I stood abruptly, making my way over to him. This time, I brought my hands forward as I held his face, "Look at me, baby. Look me in the eyes and see for yourself...." I couldn't keep the tears at bay anymore. They flowed freely down my cheeks, to my trembling lips.
"I am carrying YOUR child and no one else's," I brought my hand down, reached out for his, and placed it on my Belly, "Here, feel that. Our child, Enzo. The child we've been waiting for."
At this point, I was grasping at straws, anything, to make him believe me. He is my home and I have nowhere else to go.
I watched as his eyes flickered, and a tiny flutter of hope emerged in me. But in a swift move, he pulled his arms away, the force sending me to the floor in a thud.
A gasp escaped my lips, and my hands immediately held my stomach, preventing it from hitting the marble floors.
Rather, he sneered at me, "You have 24 hours to pack your stuff and leave this Pack. Trust me, this is me being lenient with you." And he left.
My shoulders slumped as the weight of his words hung in the air, resigning my resolve to fate.
At that moment, I thought I had gone through the most unimaginable pain ever. But, I was so wrong.
I was in my room, a few hours later, staring at old photos of us, when a knock was heard on the door.
I sniffed, wiping the tears off my cheeks, "Come in,"
A maid walked into the room, and I stared at her from the mirror's reflection.
"I'm sorry Luna, but someone is here to see you." She said in a small voice.
My brows furrowed and I turned to her sharply, "What? Who is it?"
Her gaze was down as she spoke, but that was typical of the maids in this mansion, "She...she said her name is Olivia."
My brows shot up at the mentioned name, and I quickly scampered off the chair.
Olivia! My twin sister! She didn't tell me she was coming, but I was so happy to finally see her after two years since she traveled abroad to study. I couldn't believe she was finally here.
I got outside in no time. It was dark already and I could only manage my eyesight to search for her.
Strange, because there wasn't even a car out. Something that'd signify her return.
But just then, I heard a loud cry further behind me. So familiar I took to my heels immediately, darting through the trees and into the woods as the cry became louder.
Until it completely stopped. And I halted, as my eyes rested on the person on the floor.
Margaret Backwoods. Enzo's mother, lying in a pool of her blood. A scream escaped my lips at the sight of it, and I quickly made my way, to her, crouching lower as I tried to find a way to help her.
"No...no..no. Mother? Please no. This can't be," I whispered out.
But my hope was shortlisted as heavy footsteps resounded, and I was immediately surrounded by warriors.
"Murderer!" Someone screamed out.
Ophelia;"Murderer? Why would they think....?"I didn't have the time to process my thoughts as the Alpha quickly came forward, almost out of breath. He froze, upon setting his eyes on her, "Mother," he whispered. I could hear the brokenness in his voice as he took small steps toward us. He fell on his knees in front of her, his trembling hands reaching out to her. Seeing him that way made my heart break for him."Oh, Enzo..." My heart couldn't take the scene in front of me. As much as he had hurt me, I never wanted to see him this way. I never wanted to see him look as broken as he does now. The night was suddenly quiet. The only sound was from the rustling of leaves by the wind and the faint howl of wolves nearby, probably those going for night runs. But just as suddenly, Enzo's eyes flashed to mine dangerously, "How could you, Ophelia? Is this how you take your revenge? Is this what you could resort to, after all?""What?...." I was confused, "Enzo...you do not possibly think...
Alpha Enzo;My hands tugged at my hair as I paced in my office. It's been ten fucking hours, and the warriors still haven't found her yet. "She might be dead for all we know. This is all your fault!" My wolf, Atlas growled in my head.Atlas had been whining nonstop since last night, and I haven't had a wink of sleep either. The door suddenly opened, and I quickly stood up from the chair. It was my Beta, Logan, looking tired and worried. "What is it? Any news yet?" I asked frantically. He shook his head, sighing deeply, "We couldn't find her. The warriors were at it all night. Not even a glimpse."My fists clenched in my hands at his words, and I punched at the wall angrily. "Fuck!!!"Running a hand over my face, I paced in the office.Logan was quiet for a while, and then he said, "I still can't believe Ophelia would do something like that. That she would actually...."He shook his head like he couldn't dare to say the word."Well, I couldn't believe it as well, Logan. But she f
Ophelia;A few Months LaterMy eyes flew open as a gasp escaped my lips. Pain in my lower belly erupted, making me scream out loud.Discovering I was in a bed, I made to sit up, but I only fell back down. My breathing came out in gasps, as I clutched on my belly. Glancing down, I was surprised to see that my baby bump had increased quite a bit."What is going on? Ava? Where are we?" I asked, reaching out to my wolf. But there was no response."Ava!!" I couldn't reach her. There was a brick wall separating us, which meant, she must have retreated deep into my mind. This isn't happening!"No! Ava! You can't leave me now. No, please!"My eyes scanned the room I was in, the decor and feel of it so strange, I was sure I wasn't in my Pack. The last thing I recalled was falling down the cliff, with Enzo's stoic face before me. My head throbbed badly, and the pain in my lower belly intensified."Ahhhhh!!" I cried out, "Help!!" My voice broke out in a whisper, as the pain shot up my spine, l
Alpha Axel;A low growl escaped my lips as I stepped out the doorStomping my feet angrily, I made my way to my office, where I was immediately met by my Beta, Jeffery. "What's wrong?" He asked as he stood up quickly from a chair, eyeing me warily. My hands swung forward, and I sent the table tumbling over, the files flying all over the place."Fuck!!" I tugged at my hair, "She doesn't recognize me, Jeff. She doesn't feel the mate bond." Jeff's eyes widened, and he asked, "Are you sure about that? That's almost impossible."" Well, it's fucking not, Jeff. She doesn't. I didn't come all this way for my mate to not FEEL the mate bond."I had never been so scared and delighted at the same time, when I found her, washed up at the side of the river, three months back.I never knew I would find my mate so soon. Especially now, that the council of royal elders is on my neck for a Royal heir. The moon Goddess was on my side that very day. But, my fears increased, when her body refused to r
Alpha Enzo;My fingers clenched in my fists, as I stared at the lanky omega, on his knees before me."We need to rip his fucking head off!!" My wolf, Atlas, roared in my head, as he tried to emerge."I am sorry, Alpha. Pardon me, please. I didn't say anything because I....thought I might be mistaken. But as time went by, I was more sure that what I had seen, was indeed what happened. "My fists hit the table with a loud bang, sending some papers flying around, "And what gave you the guts to think that you could come here, and lay baseless claims?"He flinched, his shoulders trembling, as he bowed his head repeatedly.Logan gave me a look, from where he stood, opposite me, "You have to be calm, Alpha. We need to know the facts first before we act." He said in the mind link.I was hardly stable at the moment and was on the verge of losing my senses. If what he was saying was the truth, then..."Fuck!" I stood up abruptly, hitting the chair back, as I paced around.Logan walked over to t
Ophelia; Two Years Later; My hands shook, and I clenched them, as I sat on the soft plush chair, in my chambers. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, as the maids worked on my curls. This was the day. The day I had been patiently waiting for... and I could not help but feel a mix of emotions in me.A slight knock sounded, and the door creaked open. My breath hitched as I caught the reflection of Axel, from the mirror. He was already dressed, in his kingly regalia, looking all dashing and handsome, I couldn't take my eyes away.I gave him a small smile, just as the maids all dropped what they were working with, and scurried out of the room. Bowing and muttering their respects to him, as they passed by.It was the Annual Alpha's conference, which would be held here, in the Dark Mist Wolves Pack. The previous year's wasn't held, due to some issues that were encountered, which made this, the First, after two years.Alphas of different Packs are expected to be around...most of them alre
Alpha Enzo;A few Hours Earlier I tugged at my tie, as I stood in front of the dressing mirror in the room. Annoyance shimmered over my skin, as the damn thing just wouldn't tie. Feeling agitated, I pulled it off my neck and flung it somewhere in the room. I shut my eyes, as I tried to rein in my emotions, but the annoyance, irritation, and paranoia, settled on my every essence, making it hard for me to form a coherent thought.Weaving my hands through my hair, I groaned irritably, not understanding the reason for my pent-up emotions. Resting my hands on the dresser table, I suddenly felt hands on my back from behind, and my eyes shot open in surprise until I realized I actually wasn't alone in the room."You need to relax, love," Olivia's voice reassured. I heaved a deep sigh, as I turned immediately to look at her, and she smiled. She was already dressed up, in a light blue long dress, with thin straps at the shoulders. It accentuated her curves and made her eyes stand out.In h
Ophelia; After Axel gave his speech, it was time for the official conference. I felt my skin prickle with awareness, knowing fully well that his eyes were on me. Sure enough, my ever-so-beautiful sister was hanging on his arm. A testament to the harsh reality I was living in, while I was still with him. A testament as to how less they thought of me, even in death. The Alphas were to have an in-house conference, as per tradition, while their Lunas, were to move to the Lunas chambers specifically designed for this purpose. "You okay?" I heard Axel ask beside me, his voice nearly in a whisper. We were still standing at the stage, as the Alphas began to get ready, while the Lunas made their way to the chambers.I let in a deep breath, before letting it out, as I nodded at Axel, "I am fine, Axel. You do not need to worry about me.""You know I can not help, but worry," he uttered, "this is the first time, you would be setting your eyes on them, after a few years. And as much as I know y
