My heart thumped in my chest, as the look in Enzo's eyes flashed in my mind, once again.

It has been a few years, but the pain of what he had put me through, was still fresh in my mind.

Enzo. My mate and lover. The only man I had ever loved with everything I had. Wholeheartedly and unconditionally.

Seeing him again did things to me I never expected. He still looked the same, except for the increase in his stubbles. His chest was much broader than I imagined, and as he gazed at me, for that fleeting moment, I could see the same man I had loved all these years.

Nothing much had changed, except that he wasn't the same man I had harbored a crush on, way before I even found out we were mates.

The fact that he could do that to me, was something I had always wondered. How did he suddenly transform into a stranger, who would rather believe the words of others, over his mate?

It had only just begun, as I hadn't healed from the trauma--a trauma risking my child in the process.
