It’s ironic, you think you have a basic boring life: go to school, go on summer vacation, work, eat, sleep and repeat, and still people will find things to complain about saying they want more adventure, or something exciting to happen to them. Then suddenly, that exact thing happens to you. And you get dragged in to a war that’s been raging for hundreds of years. I’m only 17, I should be worrying about other things! Finishing school, what I want to do with my life, boys! But the day I meet Ash everything changed and I am yet to decided if they changed for the better. And it all started because of a nightmare. Who would have thought nightmares could be real. DEFINITELY NOT ME!…
View MoreWhile Ash and I are collecting the last weapons from the garage to hand out among the fighters, I am struck by a message, and it doesn’t take me long to realise that I am not meant to hear it. A small voice in the back of my head calling me “Come now monsters join the battle, I need you here now. It’s been a long time since we have had the chance to destroy the Ma Vista’s and that time has come.” The voice stops. I look at Ash; he must see the horror in my face, because he immediately drops the weapons that are in his hands and runs over to me. I look into his brown eyes and see the question he doesn’t want to ask. I nod my head; he grabs my hand in an iron tight grip and grabs the weapons he dropped earlier. We race out the door and head toward where the rest of the group are waiting. As we arrive, everyone that has agreed to fight against the invisible monsters walk into Ash’s lounge room. “Everyone the time has come. We need to take arms, fight together and work togethe
We lay tangled in each other’s arms for what feels like ages before I finally decide that I should have a shower, and I disentangle myself from him. Then suddenly a thought of a Blue monster flicks through my mind. Oh, shit we forgot about Blue, we left him at the front door. “Ash?” “Yes, Nat?” “We completely forgot about Blue.” “Shit, okay you go have your shower and I will go check up on him and make sure that everything is going okay.” “Okay that sounds good.” I walk over to him and claim his lips one more time before I leave the room. As I walk down the hall I run into Lyrica. “Natalie oh my gosh, you’re back.” “Yeah it’s so good to see you Lyrica.” She seems to take in my appearance and smirks. “And it seems as though you have been quite busy since you got back.” I feel my cheeks redden with a slight blush as I drop my head to look at the floor. “Don’t feel ashamed honey, at least no one walk in on you.” I look at her in confusion before the answer hits me.
“I am so happy that you are back.” “Not as much as I am, I was so sick of being stuck in a cage, the master visited me like every day. And most of all I just missed you.” “All I could remember was, what happened before the shower and how it was my fault that you were taken because I went to have a shower and left you unprotected.” “Ash, don’t be ridiculous, it was not your fault I should have had my bow with me.” We make it to the door and stop walking, Ash looks at me and I see longing in his eyes. “Nat, I have so much to tell you, so much happened and I don’t know when I will get the time to tell you about it.” “Tonight, after we have seen everyone, I am really tired and would love to have a proper bed to lay on.” “Hahaha, so true, well lets go in then.” We walk through the door and I see people everywhere. “Who are all these people?” I ask with wonder. “All of them are willing to lay down there life in order to save the world against the monsters.” He points
The escape from the house was easier then expected, as we race across the yard there are no monster insight. Blue had chosen the right moment for my escape, and now I owe him. Once we are outside the houses boundaries Blue pulls up and stops running, which causes me to dive to the side to prevent running into the ginormous monster, and even though he is young he is still quite big. “This is where we must disappear.” I look at him, and nod, “Okay.” He grabs me under the shoulders and under my knees then lifts me up before we disappear. Disappearing is so weird; it’s so hard to explain. I feel wind pushing against my face; it pushes me back against Blue. I can’t see anything, it’s just black all around and yet I can’t actually tell if my eyes are open or closed. All I can hear is Blue’s breathing, there is no wind blowing and yet I can feel it against my face. There is no smell; actually I don’t think I am breathing. We seem to be in the void for what feels like hours, but turns out
Quickly I dial Riley’s number and wait for him to pick up. “Hello, who is it?” “Hey Riley, it’s Ash.” “Yep, what’s happening?” “I need you and your friends to come back to my house, are you nearly finished with all the sand?” “Yeah, we are about to leave.” “Great I have sent Lyrica to get bags to put the sand in, and I have also got one of Natalie’s friends out collecting people that are willing to fight for our cause.” “That’s great, okay well I will meet you at your house in about 10.” “Okay that sounds great, so where did you get the sand from?” “I know this person that works at the zoo, and he said I could take some sand from the enclosures.” “Perfect, okay see you soon.” “Yep, bye.” “Bye.” As soon as he hangs up I walk into the kitchen and sit down. This would be so much easier with Natalie here; I hope she is okay and that the master and the monsters haven’t hurt her. I can’t wait until I can have her in my arms again, and this time I don’t plan on letting go. The
As I climb into the car and slowly pull away from the curb I am struck with a sadness that I have never felt before. Did Alex actually mean what she was saying, how does she know that. Anyway I have to think of other things there is too much to do and too little time to worry about all that now. I will worry about that later, after the war is done and I can have Natalie all to myself. I pull into the driveway of my house and notice that Natalie’s Suzuki is parked in front of the garage, which means Lyrica and Cooper are here. I walk through the door and see that Lyrica and Cooper have placed all the weapons in the garage. “Lyrica?” I call out. I hear a rustling noise coming from one of the bedrooms then I hear Lyrica mumble. “In here Ash.” Quickly I walk into Natalie’s old bedroom and see that Cooper and Lyrica must have been having a nap, I also notice that some clothing has been thrown onto the floor, from what I don’t even want to think about. I glance at Lyrica and notice how
After returning home with Riley, I set to work talking to all of Natalie’s friends. I go to Alexandria first because I know that she will agree to this, she will be the first one that would stand beside Natalie. As I knock on the door, I hear footsteps rushing towards the door, Alex pulls the door open and looks at me and then glances past me as if searching for Natalie. Once she realises that Natalie is not there, her face goes from an expression of happiness to one of panic, her eyes seem to search my face and as she looks in my eyes she knows something is wrong. “What is it Ash, what has happened?” I realise that I am going to have to explain everything that has happened. So I ask if I can come in and offer that we take a seat on the lounge. “Ash, you still haven’t said anything about Natalie?” “I know, I’m sorry Alex but the other day we were attacked and after we thought we had won a Blue monster broke into the house and stole Natalie right from under my watch.” “But how
The longer we take the longer they have to collect help and spread the awareness, and knowing Natalie it won’t take that long because she is such a nice person and people just seem drawn to her, but I won’t let that get to me this time. I glance down at my majestic sketches that contain all that I have planned and a grin spreads across my face. They have no idea what they are getting themselves into; they just messed with the wrong master. I stay up all night planning, my monsters rush around fixing everything and listening to everything that I tell them to do, none of them second guess what my order is they just do it. The next morning my plan was starting to come together, I had over half the plan ready so I decided that a small break would not hurt. As I sleep, I dream, but it was not a normal dream it was a victory dream. I stand before Natalie, all her friends gone; only her and I stand after the battle finally ended. I look up at her and say. “You know it didn’t have to be t
That night I think about Natalie, I dream that we got married and that we control all the monsters. We have been having so much fun recently; she has actually started talking to me about stuff that I never really understood. It took her a while but she finally caved, I think she has actually started developing feelings for me. She keeps smiling at me, with this strange emotion shining in her eyes but I can’t quite depict what it is. So when morning comes I am looking forward to seeing her, I climb out of bed and get dressed into some of my nicest clothes. I walk down the hall; trying not to look like I’m rushing but the faster I get there the longer I get to hang with her today. I had told her my plans for the day but she is probably still asleep, I am up a little earlier then I was planning but who cares it means more time with her and that’s all I want. This time I have been watching her, I walked in on her talking to Blue and she seemed to be asking questions about me so, I decid
All I can think of is running, I can hear it coming behind me, giving chase like any predatory animal would do if they sensed easy prey. I know it’s catching me, the heavy footsteps following in my wake. I scan the wilderness looking for a way to escape this nightmare, but there’s nothing, no tree high enough, no branch long enough. My only hope is to keep running. Flashing back to seconds earlier, the look on my best friend’s face as the beast appeared from the shadows of the trees is all I can see. We were in the mountains camping for our summer vacation, enjoying our time away from school. When this summer ends, I will be going into senior year, getting ready for college and life ahead. Now everything has changed. Alexandria and I were just sitting on the logs that surround the flickering flames of the fire. We were roasting marshmallows and enjoying our freedom away from home. When it emerged. Alexandria saw it first. At first it looked like a bear, but it was too big. Then it s...
