When we leave the mall, I head back to Ash’s place to put my new clothes away. Then I pack for the night at Alex’s, as I finish packing I head down to say goodbye to Ash. When I walk into the kitchen and don’t find him I begin to panic. I walk through the whole house but don’t find him, when I finally get to his bedroom I can hear shuffling around. I guess that he wants to be left alone so I walk towards the front door. After two steps I hear him call my name and his bedroom door opens, I turn around just in time to see him emerge from his dark bedroom.
“I’m going to Alex’s now so I just come to say goodbye and goodnight.” “What do you mean goodbye?” He asks suddenly distressed “Only that I won’t see you for the rest of the day, so I was saying goodbye.” “Okay.’’ he replies a bit happier, glad that goodbye was not forever. Then he does something unexpected, he comes over and hugs me. He holds me tightly, not letting go, like if he lets go I would be gone forever. When he finally lets go I step back smiling “Goodnight, see you tomorrow.” And he nods. When I arrive at Alex’s place I don’t know what to expect, her house is always full of surprises. I go up to the door to find that it is already open, so I let myself in. I find her sitting on the couch in the living room eating biscuits. She looks up from the computer that she seems to be studying and says “Sit, we have a lot to talk about.” Ever since she asked me to stay at her place I’ve been dreading those words, what could she possibly want to talk about. I sit down on the couch beside her and wait for her to start. “You know how you told me about the nightmares you were having and that they started about a year ago.” “Yeah.” I say wondering where she’s going with this conversation. “Well I was looking it up on the Internet about three days ago and I found a peculiar website that had strange information on it. It was called Ma vista. I don’t know what that means but I think you are one of the three that live in the world at one time.” She looks over at me to see if I am comprehending what she’s saying, “They were created to stop monsters from destroying the human race, the website said that it started 4 thousand years ago when a wizard realised that the world was under threat, so he casted a spell that started the Ma vista’s. At first they fought as one, but when the oldest one died in battle, the second oldest turned on the third and killed him immediately. It was from that day that the Ma vista’s fought alone, it was more dangerous but they could never find each other. The second eldest – the one that killed its fellow Ma vista become evil and when he died, the monsters wanted a new master and an evil race of Ma Vista’s were born. I personal believe you are one of the Ma vistas reincarnated and I also believe that you are one of the good ones.” When she finishes I am completely speechless, she knows. Oh my goodness! She knows about me! I’m hoping she hasn’t worked out Ash. She would probably think he is the evil one. Finally I get the courage to say “Wow, you looked up all that information just for me, but I have to tell you something too.” She nods her head waiting in suspense “I have already found out what I am because when the explosion happened it was actually a monster and it killed my family and said to me “you are the last Ma vista to be born this century.” So that means I’m the last one to be born until another one dies.’ The look on her face is priceless. I think she thought it was just a made up story and that the nightmares would eventually end, but that’s not true. After 10 minutes of silence she speaks again “I didn’t want to believe it was true, because that means you are in danger and a monster could attack any day.” Well she certainly thinks that I have a great chance of surviving. When I ask “Do you think I should leave and go looking for these monster and kill them?” “No.” she replies quickly “Well at least not until we have researched more and you have learnt how to fight with a sword and bow and arrow as well.” The rest of the afternoon we spend looking up places where we can learn combat skills but when we find one she tells me something I’m not expecting. The place is called ‘Learn to defend yourself and kill your enemy.’ Well I think that’s a bit dramatic but I book myself in for a class in one weeks time along with Ash. He doesn’t know yet but I will tell him tomorrow. Finally when we have had enough of looking up battle camps. Alex declares that dinner is ready. So I set the table while she gets dinner out of the oven. Alex has always been a good cook, always cooking amazing meals every time I come over. When Alex tells me that I will need 3 seats at the table I think maybe Aaron’s coming over. But then someone knocks on the door and Alex answers it with a “Nicky it’s so good to see you.’ Oh, shit. Alex continues with ‘how was college?’ And Nicks saying “It was good.” Then Alex says “What happened to your face?” There’s a short pause before he says “I got in a fight at one of the petrol stations around here. Then they walk into the kitchen and they both stop walking when they see me sitting in the corner, Alex is thinking I’ve lost the plot and Nick thinks it’s because of the incident at the petrol station. After a quick frown he smiles a horrible, mean smile and says “What a lovely surprise. What are you doing here Natalie?” I don’t know how to respond at first but when I realise that he’s pretending we haven’t seen each other, I decide to go along with it. “I’m just staying for the night before I leave in a weeks time.” Alex nods, but Nick seems taken a back, he hasn’t expected me to be leaving town, but he probably doesn’t know about the explosion either. “Why are you leaving town, does your family know?” Well that answers my earlier suspicion. “I am leaving town because I have to, my family died in an explosion yesterday and I need to leave.” With that statement Nick seems horrified, like he can’t even remember the incident at the petrol station and is now in shock about the death of my family. Maybe it’s because it was the same day we had the fight or maybe he knows something else about the explosion. Nah I doubt it. Nick quickly apologises and we go along and finish dinner without any more conversation between us. We go to bed and in the morning Nick makes everyone breakfast. When Alex sees that I don’t have any shoes, she gives me half of her collection because we have the same shoe size. Finally I say goodbye and I’m on my way back to Ash’s house, which will now be my house as well for the next couple of weeks. After that we will have to figure the next step out together. I haven’t even taken 4 steps when Ash barges through the front door and picks me up in a gigantic bear hug.By dark its only Ash and myself that remain. Lyrica has fallen asleep in my lap, her head resting in the crook of my neck. Ash sits beside me his arm resting on the lounge above me and the other rests in his lap holding my free hand. Alex and Cooper sit on the couch across from us, talking and laughing about things that had recently happened. By eight, Ash and I decide that we should get out of there hair. Alex seems slightly upset, but she understands. Slowly I climb of the lounge, Lyrica sleeping soundly in my arms. I take her up to her bedroom and lay her softly in her beautiful princess looking bed and tuck her in. Giving her a soft kiss on the head. I walk out of the room and back down to the guys at the front door. Cooper gives me a quick hug before going to turn all the lights off and making sure that the backyard isn’t completely destroyed. Alex throws her arms around me once more and whispers in my ear “Your going to be a great mum, and Ash will make a great dad. Don’t
I’m pulled from my thoughts from a feather light brush against my arm. Looking around I see Alex standing beside me her brows furrowed. “Is everything okay?” Her voice is like light pulling me out of the darkness of my own thoughts. “Yeah, everything okay. You’ve done a magnificent job with the house, when you first told me you were going to buy a house that you would have to renovate I thought I dear, hows she ever going to get the time to do that. But its come out beautifully.” Her eyes seem to twinkle with amusement as the words tumble out of my mouth. “Yeah I’m sure thats why you where staring of into the distances with no light in your eyes. Hows the nightmares going?” She smiles softly, its obvious that she knows me too well. “There getting better slowly, Ash is the same. But every night I wake up and try and move his arms tighten around. I think its his new fear, of losing me like he nearly lost me so many times all those years ago.” Her head bobs in understanding. Wh
Ash pulls up the car out the front of Alex’s new place. Cars seem to line the streets for there new house party. We struggle out of the car, after a ten hour trip both our legs are a bit wobbly. Everyone from the gang has been invited. Ash and I are a bit nervous about seeing most of them because we haven’t really talked to them since school finished. We had gone back to Riley’s boot camp after Blue told us about the missing monster, he had turned up about 10 years ago. He tried to attack Ash and I when we were at home, but these days nothing catches us unawares. We had heard rumours of something unnatural floating around the neighbourhood. So we had prepared ourselves. In the end we had to kill the monster and let Black know what had happened in case the monsters though that we were going to start another war. Walking up the front steps, Ash wraps an arm around me. I was nervous, these people were our friends and now twenty years after the battle. They were getting close to 40 year
Walking to the bathroom door I tap on it softly, “Cooper...” I sigh softly “Please Cooper, its me.” My voice is strained, I can’t loss another friend. The door opens slowly just enough for me to enter. Walking in I instantly find him and wrap my arms around him. “Are you going to leave me too? Is this why you've come looking for me?” “Oh, Cooper.” I sigh again. “We aren’t going to leave you, you are family. We have all lost someone, so we must create something new. A new family.” He sighs before burying his face in the crook of my neck and holding me tightly. “On the inside Alex really doesn’t want to leave you, but what she is doing, she thinks is going to make her future better. Enable her to go to college and get her degree. This is what she has always wanted, you have to understand that. She doesn't want to leave you, she’s practically been in tears since you stormed into the bathroom. She needs you just as much as you need her. So get your ass out of the bathroom and go t
The day passes quite quickly, school flying by as we see all our friends and I even welcome Josh with open arms. At lunch there seems to be a massive group of us, everyone from the battle sits with us. This seems to confuse the popular people that some of the gang use to hang with. Everyone seems to be recovering slowly, but steadily. The darkness that seemed to float around us seems to have disappeared and light and happiness is coming to the surface. Many of the groups parents where all fine, some seemed to have a bit of amnesia but other then that they were fine. All the pets are still at home and everyone seems to have overlooked the weird explosion of my house. I get a lot of sympathy from the staff and even some students come up to me and offer there condolences. Yes, now that everything has finished Ash and I have both been given time to grieve, grieve the deaths of our families and of our friends. But we are both trying to look at the bright side and believe that there sacrifi
The next morning after the party everyone seemed ready to move forward. After we had all cleaned the house, people started leaving. Riley and his gang were the first to go, having come the furtherest. They had quite a long drive back to there bootcamp training arena. As they drove away, we promised to stay in contact with them, and when that still didn’t encourage them. Riley had to sneak up to me and give me a kiss on the cheek. Ash’s face had been hilarious, and Riley and his group had fled. Practically running to the car, yelling there goodbyes. Ash had looked at me as if to say I told you he had a crush on you. But I just shrugged my shoulders and laughed at him. The rest of the group left in trickles, Josh and his group all hugged me and shook Ash’s hand. Most of them would see me at school next week. As the summer holidays were literally just coming to an end. Everyones families had come back safely from there holiday that they didn't even remember. Alex had been over there
