The Library (Natalie)

When we leave the car is in complete silence. It takes us half an hour to get to the library, so the silence lasts that long. Sometimes I would mumble the words to a song on the radio, Ash would sometimes as well. When we get there he only says,
“We need a computer and access to informative

books.”

We choose to work separately because of what happened this morning, I start with the computer and Ash starts with the books. I log in and start searching. I search the word “Ma Vista” and a whole heap of websites come up. I search through some of them but after an hour I start to get restless, it isn’t until I find the website ‘What are Ma Vista’s and what do they do?’ that I get excited.

I click on it and read the first paragraph; it has what Alex said to me two days ago. As I continue to read I come across new information, so I call out to Ash. He comes flying through the door, closes it softly and we start to read.

‘A Ma Vista also known in English as “with sight” is a creatures of the light. Created by a wizard four thousand years ago. They were created for the purpose of destroying all monsters and let the earth live in peace. A Ma Vista is immortal. The only things that can kill them are monsters. When a Ma Vista is born it has nightmares for a year, when the nightmares are over the day after a monster will kill their family. The monster is usually told to do so by their master.

The master is known as “The Evil Ma Vista”. They have the power to kill monsters but they choose to ignore this because they usually get to live a longer life as a master. No one knows how Ma Vista’s are chosen but people say it’s because they possess great courage and fierce bravery. As well as the ability to take up weapons and sacrifice themselves for loved ones and fellow human beings. You cannot tell if someone is a Ma Vista because they look the same as other human beings.

If a pair of good Ma Vista’s meet (it is rumoured that this will happen in the future) they will be connected, they may not understand the connection but it will be a good thing. When the two of the Ma Vista’s are together they are strongest, when they are apart they are weak, most of the time the connection will pulse with electricity. It does this if there is a strong connection between the two Ma Vistas.

The prophecy states if they both live they will forever stay together because the connection is love it always has been love. The evil Ma Vista is the cause of missing people in surrounding areas near their fellow Ma Vistas. He or she sends their monster in to cause mayhem and perhaps attracted a Ma Vista. The Ma Vista comes in only expecting one monster, then to be overwhelmed by hundreds. They eventually die and a new Ma Vista is born.

If the new Ma Vista is a boy he will start to have nightmares when he is 15. If it is a girl Ma Vista, the child will start having nightmares at the age of 16, some develop a bit later than that and their nightmares finishes in the middle of their 17th year.’

Suddenly we are at the bottom of the website and its over, that’s all the information were going to get out of it. I look at Ash the bit about meeting the other Ma Vista has never happened before. Now we know we are the last creatures of the light, so to destroy these monsters we have to do it, because if we don’t win, if they win the world will suffer and eventually the monsters will rule the world with the master. Until they became bored of him and this time when he dies, he won’t be reincarnated because there will be no humans left.

Ash seems to be thinking about the same thing,

“I think that’s enough reading for one day, we should be heading home.” I nod in agreement, that was a lot to take in. As we exit the library Ash reaches out and grabs my hand. Electricity shoots up my arm causing my body to hum with energy. I don’t know where this sudden display of affection has come from but maybe he’s thinking about the love thing.

When we get home it’s quite late so we have dinner and go to bed, the pulsing happens again and Ash appears in the door way again and I let him in. The same thing happens the next 2 days in a row; the only downfall is that we don’t find any more information at all. This morning I wake up to find my back pressed up against Ash’s chest and his arms around me holding me close, the more time we spend together the more attached we become to each other. Often I have had thoughts about what would happen if one of us died in this coming war. What would happen to the other? Would we survive or would we die because the one we also love is also dead. When I think like this I try to get my mind off those thoughts and think about other things like, what information am I going to find today or should I catch up with Alex again, but the questions go unanswered.

When I finally decide to move its ten o’clock and we were meant to be at the library at nine. So we are a little bit late the only problem is, every time I move to get up Ash locks his arm around me and holds me tight. Eventually I persuade him to release me and we go have breakfast together. After our first and last find of information we haven’t had a fight about wanting to stay near each other.

When we finally get to the library it’s packed. There are people everywhere. We end up having to look through books and when Ash finally finds something worth reading, it is not good news.

‘If the pair of Ma Vista’s finds each other the second one will be drawn to the area, not the specific area but the surrounding area.’

I look at Ash immediately
“the spires surround Frostvale they could attack from all sides and we would be screwed.” I say in a panic, I start to get up when Ash grabs me shoulder,

“We would notice if there were monsters here, don’t you remember what we read 4 days ago?” Slowly I begin to relax again, but it is short lived because the next thing I read makes me petrified.

‘If the pair of Ma Vista’s meet and 1 dies in the finally battle the other one will continue to live forever by themselves.’

My heart stops as I read the paragraph and I start to cry. If we both don’t survive the world is screwed and if only one of us survives they will forever drown in their own sadness.

When Ash is done we decide it would be better if we left. I cry all night dreading what will happen to me. We are the last Ma Vista’s if we don’t live the world dies, if I live and Ash dies the world will continue on without love and if we both live the world will be happy forever. That’s my aim to live and for Ash to live with me. When I wake up in the morning it is the last day of freedom and I plan to spend it wisely.
