Past Desires

My husband stared at me, seeking answers that even I didn’t have. I wanted more than anything to go back to how we were. I wished it were possible to erase my mistakes like someone who erases words from the pages of life, but even an eraser leaves traces, and often it even tears the paper. So at this moment, all I could hope for was that my mistakes wouldn’t completely destroy us.

“I don’t know,” I confessed, feeling lost. Daon closed his eyes, squeezing them shut as if my words had hurt him, so I continued.

“But I really want to try!” I affirmed, and he looked at me, seeming surprised, while I stood up from my chair and went to him, sitting on his lap, with one leg on each side of his body.

Our eyes didn’t leave each other’s for even a second, and he seemed surprised by my gesture, since I had been avoiding him lately. I took my hand to the hem of his shirt, gently pulling it up, and he raised his arms, making my task easier. I slid his shirt off his body, revealing his defined abdom
