Broken

Apologies were useless now, we had been discovered, and maybe it was for the best. Daon already knew everything, but perhaps seeing it with his own eyes would push him away from me and keep him safe, as I knew I could never stay by his side. Daon seemed completely destabilized by my response, and confusion was written all over his face.

"What? What do you mean?" he asked, intrigued by my revelation.

"I met Jayden on my first day here. When we went to meet your mother, and she treated me poorly, I left and went to a bar," I began, but my voice faltered.

Maybe none of this would have happened if I hadn’t overheard what his mother said that day. Maybe it wouldn’t have happened if we hadn't come to Korea. No. I can’t blame my mistake on circumstances. The only one to blame for everything that happened was myself, for being weak. I let myself be carried away by my impulsiveness, and now I was suffering the consequences of my own actions.
