Part of me wanted to run into Jayden’s arms, and another part knew I could never do that again because we were doomed. The sound of Jessi clapping, celebrating the reunion of the couple that should never have broken up, snapped me out of my trance, and I sighed as I saw a police officer approach, whispering something in Daon’s ear, who looked at me anxiously.

“I’ll finish my statement and sign some papers,” my husband explained, and I nodded.

He looked at his best friend before leaving, and Jayden seemed as confused as I was. Simon and Maryna were so wrapped up in each other that when I noticed, they were stumbling and bumping into me.

“For God's sake, get a room!” Jayden demanded, huffing in irritation.

“Yeah, have some compassion for the singles!” Jessi grumbled in her always loud voice.

“Now, besides everything, there’s no respect left in this company,” Hanna muttered, and even wrapped in the arms of the man she loved, Maryna couldn’t let it slide.
