Chapter 60

Alex's POV

A cold dread settled in my gut as I thought hard. This wasn’t just an attack on the pack. I noticed the head of the Rogues howled like a signal to the rest and they immediately retreated.

I stood and stared at the aftermath of the battle. My breathing was heavy and my body trembled with exhaustion. I saw the bodies of familiar faces. Some were wounded and some dead, they were all scattered around. Some people were trying to put out the fires in their homes. The tension of the chaos was still in the air.

My mind was racing and trying to put the pieces of the attack together. Normally, Rogues try to attack packs when they know the pack is at its weakest. But this attack had been too coordinated, mostly Rogues were always irrational and didn't go by rules. They took us unaware and bypassed all the security set in place. They knew we were vulnerable, still mourning the death of our Alpha and the Alpha died without an heir.
