Richard's POV

The meeting room was silent. There were few murmurs of conversation within the elders but in a very low voice. The recent rogue attack had shaken everyone, and with the deaths of several elders, the pack was more vulnerable than it had been in years. Two rogue attacks in just a few months. I sat close to Elder Joseph close to the door and watched as Beta Conor, Zeta Jamie, and Gamma Hilliard came in and took their seats at the large, oval table.

We all knew we had to name a new Alpha as soon as possible. The council knows the pack can't survive without a new Alpha with the threat of more rogue attacks. Rogues and rival packs like targeting packs that were vulnerable like ours. Especially knowing the fact that our pack, Shadow Pack, was one of the wealthiest packs around. The land was fertile, we had Precious stones and the pack business that has been built for generations.

I and Julia had been making plans for a long while to make Alex the Alpha of this Pack but he was
