Chapter 67

Richard's POV

I always knew Alex could be bossy, sensitive and impatient when things weren't going his way, but I never knew he was this stupid. Acting up like a kid whose candy was taken. Barging into the council meeting just like that was an idiotic move. He keeps sniffling around trying to uncover secrets of the past. He was going to ruin a plan that had been in motion for years now. I left him and walked back to the Meeting room.

I pushed open the door to the meeting room, the familiar creak of the old wood somehow more irritating than usual. The meeting was still going on, and the tension in the air was pretty obvious. I could feel the eyes of the elders' gazes on me as I stepped back inside, the door closing behind me with a dull thud.

Elder Joseph was in the middle of a sentence. “...but the question remains: who is best suited to lead our pack through this crisis? We can’t afford to make the wrong decision.”
