Alexis's POV I was lying down on my bed, reading a book Elara had brought for me from the Library when I heard a knock on my door. I opened up and the guard told me Alpha Kane had asked for my presence immediately. I was surprised. It was late at night already, and I had already settled into my bed trying to read a book to make me sleep. So, when they knocked on the door and told me that Alpha Kane had summoned me, my heart sank. And couldn't help but ask myself. What could he possibly want with me at this hour?I tried to push hard to push away the rising fear as they led me through the dimly lit hallways. The mansion was silent, the kind of silence that made every footstep echo loudly which was only making me feel more tense from my stomach. By the time we reached his quarters, my hands were trembling, my mind racing with questions of why he would summon me late at night. I tried to push my fear aside. I never want to see me fear him even though I know I fear what he could do to me
Alexis’s POV I never thought that I would be able to sleep after the horror I’d been through, but exhaustion took over. I was thankful I had Elara in this pack. The morning light made its way to my room through the window. My back was healing but I knew it would still take a while before it fully healed up. I got up from my bed and with every movement I made, I felt pain. Elara was late this morning and I did not know why, so I made my way to sort myself out and took a cloth from the closet. Suddenly, I heard a knock at the door. I was hoping it was Elara but the person didn't come in so I walked to check who it was. A woman in her late forties stood at the door, her expression was cold. She didn’t say a word as she looked at me. “I’m the head omega. You are to work today,” she finally said. “Alpha Kane’s orders.” She added. I nodded. I didn’t need her to explain what that meant. I was being punished further, forced to work even though I was in pain, with the injuries that made e
Alexis's POVMy muscles ached from the long scrubbing, and the pain of yesterday’s punishment still lingered on my back. I was on my way back, to find the Head Omega and tell her that I had finished when I saw Elara and she had walked towards me. She said she was coming to get me. When she said the words, the trauma of yesterday night hit me back. I was scared and I wondered why she was coming to get me. I hadn’t seen her all morning, she had always woken me up, prepared my bath and picked out a dress for me. When I heard the knock on my door, I thought it was Elara but the person didn't come in, it was then I knew it wasn't Elara. I wondered why she hadn't come this morning and was she forbidden to attend to me after helping me last night.“I was just coming to get you,” she said, “It’s time for lunch.”“Lunch?” I asked. “But I haven’t…”“I know. They told me not to attend to you this morning,” she explained. “I would have come earlier, but I was instructed to stay away and assign
Alexis's POV Every day keeps getting tougher but now I'm getting the hang of it. I'm gradually losing hope. It wasn't certain I would leave this pack anytime soon. I once believed that Alex would find all means possible to get me out. Now I'm starting to wonder if that was even still possible.I had lost track of the days. The endless cycle of work, and exhaustion was now burning me out. Every morning I was always awoken by the knock on my door, the Head Omega’s voice barking orders. Cleaning, scrubbing, mopping, like I was a slave they were trying to break. Alpha Kane was still pissed about hitting him with a bottle but I don't regret doing it.Even as my body ached and my hands were raw from scrubbing, I held on to the one thing they couldn’t take from me, my will. It was all I had left, and I clung to it even when the days seemed to be so long like an eternity.Today was no different. I had finished my task and just retired to my room when a knock came. A guard that came the night
Alexis's POV I left the dungeon feeling a heavy weight on my chest. My hands were still trembling and my heart was pounding in my chest. Each step I took back to my room was heavy, my feet dragging as if I were moving through snow. The memory of the guard’s lifeless body, his throat being slashed and blood rushing out was repeatedly playing in my mind and I couldn’t shake it off. When I finally reached my room, I barely made it to the bed before collapsing on it. I didn’t bother with the covers or try to get comfortable, I just lay there, staring up at the ceiling, trying to process everything I had just witnessed even the images kept replaying in my mind, Alpha Kane’s cold eyes without pity in it, the sound of the whip and the guard’s cries for mercy. The tears came down from my eyes. It was hot and uncontrollable. I put my face into the pillow as I sob into it. There was no one to comfort. I have been damned into this hell. I cried until there were no more tears left for me to cr
Alexis POV When I heard a knock on my door, I thought Elara had brought me dinner but when she didn't open the door I knew it wasn't Elara and I had to go to the door. When I saw the guard I felt an unsettling chill creep up my spine. I knew something different was about to happen. I was traumatized from the last experience and every time I see these particular guards, I feel like something bad is going to happen and ruin my night."Alpha Kane has requested your presence for dinner," the guard stated.Dinner. With Alpha Kane. In his private quarters. I sort of felt relieved when I heard it was dinner but in his private quarters means I will be alone with him.I had learned to fear such summons. I could not help but ask myself what Alpha Kane was up to this night. Was this why he relieved me of my duties today? Alpha Kane loved to play games. My stomach twisted into knots as I nodded silently, knowing I had no choice but to follow the guard. When we were walking through the corridors
Alexis's POV Ever since I stepped into this pack I have been having different nightmares. After I slept last night. I dreamt of what happened at the dinner. I saw Elara’s terrified eyes again, as the guard dragged her away and I felt haunted. I wondered how long she would survive this place, how long any of us could survive. The next morning, I woke up with a slight headache. I hadn’t slept much, because of my dreams. I couldn’t stop thinking about Elara. Where was she? Had she survived the night? I went to find her yesterday night but she wasn't in her room. “Where could she be?” I muttered to myself. When the sunrise light entered through my window, I dragged myself out of bed. Usually, Elara would come to my room early to help me get ready and bring me breakfast but she was nowhere to be found this morning. I was feeling anxious as I waited, each minute feeling like an eternity. I kept convincing myself that Elara was fine, that she had endured worse. Finally, I couldn’t stand
Alexis's POV I struggled against the guard’s grip, but it was no use. He was much stronger than me, and my feeble attempts to free myself only seemed to amuse him. I saw another guard who had possibly been patrolling nearby came to meet us.“What is going on here?” He asked with a superior tone.“We caught her trying to escape.” One of the guards replied with respect.I knew instantly the guard was in a higher position.“She broke the lock and almost got out.” He explained further.“Return to your position, I will take her to the Alpha.” He said and the other two guards left immediately. I knew there was no point in struggling at this point. “Follow me, now.” He said to me as he motioned me to walk ahead of him.I had no choice but to obey, I knew I was caught and nowhere to turn to. I have alerted the whole mansion and the guards will be more alert now.Fear and panic grew inside of me. I knew what was coming. I knew that trying to escape would only bring more punishment, but I co
