Alpha Kane's POV

After leaving Alexis’s room, a strange sense of satisfaction lingered in me. The girl had spirit; I had to give her that. Her boldness, and her attempts at standing up to me, only amused me. I wasn’t surprised when she tried to kick me before, but the fire in her eyes was something I had never expected. It made her all the more interesting, all the more desirable. She reminds me of Amy. Every move of hers reminds me of Amy.

While I made my way to my study, I couldn’t help but think of the possibilities. Alexis was strong-willed, yes, but that fire could be tamed. Or, better yet, it could be harnessed. She would make an excellent mate—my Luna If she shares the same goals with me. She might not end up like Amy. The thought brought a smile to my lips. In time, she would see things my way.

Pushing open the door to my study, I walked over to the large, dark mahogany desk that was in the room. The scent of polished wood and leather filled the air. I sank into the high-b
