JAXON'S POV

"Oh, you're his secretary?" Mom asked Selena, she just nods. She doesn't seem comfortable around my parents.

"Maxine is better and prettier than you, but what can we do? Our son chose you."

"Mom!" I yelled at her. She just shrugged while munching her food, Maxine is already like her daughter that's why she's like this, but it's too much. I introduced Selena to them, not to insult her.

Selena hold pats my thighs under the table, "I know, many people already said that. But, Maxine and I are totally different, we have different personality and life. So please, stop connecting my name to hers."

It's obvious on her voice that she is hurt, but she still managed to smile. Mom ignored her like she didn't hear anything, I hate her for being like this.

Dad cleared his throat, "I heard that the company win the last bidding because of you?" he looked directly at Selena. I saw how Mom rolled her eyes, that made me to smirk.

"It's not only because of me, I just gave the idea and the whole staffs worked on it."

"See, dad? I told you she's smart," I said proudly while smiling. Dad also smiled and leaned.

"Yes, I agree that she's different to Maxine, your ex-girlfriend never done a thing for the company."

"That hurts, uncle."

We all looked at our back when a familiar voice speak out of nowhere. What the hell is she doing here?!

"What are you doing here, Maxine?" I asked, she smiled at me and attempted to kiss me, but I moved my head to avoid her lips. She rolled her eyes and looked at my mom.

"Aunt Seriana invited me here," she walked closer to Selena. I immediately grabbed her away, she's shocked from what I did.

"Don't you dare to touch Selena!"

She chuckled, "What? I just want to say to her that if she can move aside, since it's my place."

Selena suddenly stood up, "I need to go, my friend needs me. Excuse me, thank you."

"Selena," she ignored me and walked straight away from us, I chased her and grab her arm, "I'm leaving with you—"

"No, you need to stay there, your parents just got home from abroad. I'm fine, don't worry." She's smiling, but I can see the tears on the side of her tears.

"Selena..."

She holds my hands and smiled at me, "I'm fine, get back to your parents, they're maybe waiting for you now. I'll wait to you in our apartment."

I still want to chase her, but my feet are stocked from where am I. If I know that this would be to happen, I shouldn't let Selena meet my parents. They didn't respect me as their son, and Selena as a woman. Maxine really poisoned their minds, that bitch.

"Sir Jaxon? Your parents are waiting for you."

I ignored the maid and walked to the dining area with a heavy and anger heart. They're all laughing when I arrived at the table, I sat at my chair, ignoring all of them.

"Max, you should marry my son, okay? I felt something strange to Selena earlier. It's so scary."

"Demons are really scared to an angel," I said, they all became quiet and looked at me.

"What?!" My mom yelled, dad calmed her down. Why do I care? She disrespected my fiancée, she doesn't deserve even a little respect from me now.

Maxine laughed awkwardly, "Calm down Aunt Seriana, he must be joking—"

"I'm not joking," I leaned and looked at my mom that already killing me with her glares, "Why do you need to do that to Selena? Have she done wrong with you? Especially to you, mom."

"I don't—"

"Yes, I know you don't like her, but is it hard to give her a little respect? Not as my fiancée, as a woman. You hurt her a lot."

Mom rolled her eyes and drop her utensils, glaring at me while her hands are on chin, "So you're disrespecting me because I didn't respect your fiancée? She didn't even deserve to be part of our family."

"Then, so as Maxine. I don't love her anymore, and we all know that you just forced me to be her boyfriend because of your debt in her family."

Maxine dropped her spoon from what she heard, she didn't know anything and all her know that I really loved her. It's all just a show, I can't even stand with her side for an hour.

"I-It's all just because of debt?" she asked while her eyes and hands are shaking. Mom's eyes are widened, I just smirked at her.

"N-no—"

"Yes," I stood up and looked at Maxine, "It's all just a show. You can stop chasing me now, you can't get anything from me."

I walked away from them, my heart felt so lighted now. All of my resentments now are done, she already knows what's the truth. Someone grabbed my arm and her hand landed on my cheek.

"How dare you! Do you know what might her father can do to our family if they'll know about this?!" mom shouted. I nod at her with a smile.

"I don't care anyway. Selena is waiting for me now, goodbye."

HARU'S POV

"Selena? What are you doing here?"

I asked when I saw Selena drinking alone in the bar. She's really drunk now.

"Who are you? Hmm? *ihk*"

"What time she started drinking here?" I asked the bartender, he signed 7:40 pm, it's already past 9:36 pm. She's almost two hours here.

I stopped her to shoot another glass, "Sel, that's enough. Jaxon is looking for you now," She slapped my hands and drink the alcohol, so stubborn.

"You don't care! Your parents want Maxine to *ihk* be your wife, and not me. Your mother? Ha, she's so mean to me!" and then she laughs, but immediately turned to sob. I paid her drinks and lift her to my car.

"You... *ihk* you shouldn't... yell to your parents *ihk*... 'cause you're still lucky that you're with your parents..." she said while poking my shoulder, I keep quiet and let her speak.

She continues saying random things until we get in the car. I'm listening to her, she's crying and then later on, she laughed. I'm used to see her drunk, but she's different now, before she's drinking because she celebrates something, now, because of pain.

I wonder why Maxine is included, what happened to them? It's the day when Jaxon must introduce Selena as her fiancée, maybe Aunt Seriana said something to Selena that made her to be hurt like this.

"I... I'm going *ihk* throw up..."

"W-What?!"

I immediately pulled aside the car and get her out, she vomits at the riverside. When I was going to assist her to get back in the car, she holds my hand and looked at me.

"Can we stay here for a while, Haru?" she asked and sat up in the sand while staring at the river. Maybe the wind helped her to sobered up.

I sat beside her without saying anything, we're both quiet until she sighed and opened up, "Jaxon's mother doesn't want me to be her daughter-in-law, she even called Maxine to come for that dinner. I felt that I'm the mistress in this story."

"What did Jaxon do?"

"He chased me, but I told him to stay with his parents because they just got here from abroad, and I want them to have time for each other... even it hurts me a lot." She smiled bitterly and wiped her tears.

I want to hug her, but I can't. We're already part of each other's past, and my friend wouldn't like that idea. I don't want them to have a problem just because of me, it's so hard and hurtful in my side.

"Do you want to go home now?" I asked, but she refused, she said, "I rather stay now in Haxilla's place than to go home. I'll be just suffocated in our apartment."

"You can't go to Haxilla's place at this hour," I immediately answered. She can't be there, we never know what might happen if she saw Nanny Karen in that place, she'll be really confuse.

"Why? Then, I'll text Haxilla that I'm going to stay with them." I stopped her from getting her phone. She looked at me, confused from what I'm doing, "Do you want me to stay in your place?" she suddenly asked.

I shook my head, "No, you'll stay in your apartment with Jaxon, you should talk about this. Don't run away, Selena."

"I'm not running away from him, I just want my mind to be in peace this night."

"I'm going to drive you to your apartment. Let's go." I stood up when my phone rang, Jaxon is calling.

"Hel—"

[Are you with Selena? She's not picking up her phone.]

I looked down to Selena and gave the phone, "It's Jaxon," I mouthed, she got the phone. I can hear how loudly he yelled at her girlfriend.

SELENA'S POV

"What?"

[Are you drunk? Where are you? I pick you up.]

"No need, you're still in your paren—"

[I'm in our apartment right now. I thought you'll wait me here?]

I didn't answer him for a while, my tears want to escape again. I'm tired of crying.

"I'm... I'm not going to stay there for tonight."

[What?! No, you'll go here. Stay right there, I'll pick you up—]

I hung up the call and gave back Haru's phone, "Let's go, he'll nag to me whole night if I wouldn't go home now."

He laughed at me and assist me to get in the car. My head hurts so much, I'm also felt little dizzy, I shouldn't drink that a lot. We're almost got in our apartment when my heart beats so quickly, I felt something will happen bad when a car driving so swiftly passed to us.

"That car must be on emergency." Haru said, he also saw that car. I closed my eyes and leaned to the window.

"We're here."

We get out to his car and walked in the parking lot, I called Jaxon many times while we are in the elevator. What happened to him? Why he's not picking up his phone?

"What happened?" Haru asked when he noticed that I can't stay still while using my phone.

"Jaxon is not picking up his phone," I said nervously, my forehead now is full of cold sweats, as well as my hands.

I ran to our apartment when the elevator opened. Jaxon is not there wherever I look for him, Haru still calling him while helping me to look for him.

"He can't be reach."

I sat down and hold tightly at my chest, my heart can't calm down, it's still beating loudly that made me more scared.

[Are you in your apartment?] Britanny asked when I picked up her call.

"Yes. We can't find and contact him until now, I'm scared."

[Shh, we're going there now. Wade already called the police to look for him.]

"Thank you."

It's almost two hours, but still nothing happened. Wade and Haru tried to look for him outside, while me and Britanny left her to wait for him.

My phone suddenly rang and almost jumped in glee when I saw Jaxon's name on my screen, "Where the hell are you?! Why you're not picking up your phone? Do—"

[Is this Selena Formosus?]

I sat down again when a different voice answered.

"Y-yes. What happened to Jaxon? Why did you have his phone?"

[This is  NYC PD. Mr. Silvenia got into an accident, he's already now in the hospital, he is on critical situation.]

SOMEONE'S POV

[It's successful, sir. He's at the hospital right now.]

"How about Selena?"

[His body only get the medics from his car, he's not with Selena.]

"What?! Didn't I told you to check if they were together?"

[I'm sorry, sir.]

"Moron, you should've checked who's in the car first!"

I throw away the phone, exactly as she entered my office. Her brows are furrowed while looking at me, "What happened to you?"

"Selena isn't in the car. Only Jaxon who got hurt."

She just nods and get a glass of wine, she's standing in front of my bookshelf while twirling her glass, "That's fine, let him die."
